This ancient town, listed as a national 5A-level tourist attraction, is like a dazzling pearl inlaid in the land of Southeast Guizhou. Despite thousands of years of vicissitudes, it still retains its simplicity and tranquility. Zhenyuan, the name itself carries a sense of detachment from the mundane world. It is not as bustling as some popular tourist spots, but tells its own story quietly and with an understated, elegant demeanor. The ancient town is nestled against mountains and by the water, gently embraced by the Wuyang River, which draws a perfect 'S' shape here, dividing the town into north and south banks. The old government city and the old garrison city face each other across the river, like guardians of time, witnessing the historical changes. Walking through the alleys paved with bluestone slabs, you are flanked by ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, revealing past glories between the carved beams and painted rafters. Every brick and tile here, every patch of moss, seems to whisper, recounting Zhenyuan's glorious past as an important post station and commercial hub in the southwest region. There is no aggressive promotion, no expensive tickets, just silently waiting, for those who truly appreciate it to arrive. Here, you can immerse yourself in every corner for free, experiencing the indescribable beauty and harmony of its antiquity. In the early morning, you can see locals washing clothes and fishing by the river, while the faint scent of tea drifts from the old teahouses, mingling with the mist in the distant mountains to form moving pictures. In the evening, when the setting sun shines on the ancient city walls, the golden glow reflects off the river, and at that moment, you may forget the passage of time, wanting only to immerse yourself in this rare tranquility. Although Zhenyuan Ancient Town has such a rich historical and cultural heritage and natural scenery, it seems to be gradually marginalized by the torrents of time, less noisy, more serene. Unlike the hustle and bustle of other Miao villages, Zhenyuan is a quiet Miao town with a history of more than 2,300 years. You must visit it once with your loved one, and enjoy the tranquility and distance of this border town along the calm Wuyang River. Recommended attractions: Climb the Shiping Mountain once, it was the northern barrier of this border town. Take a look at Qinglong Cave, it is a wonderful example of the combination of Han architecture in the south of the Yangtze River and the mountain architecture culture of the southwestern minorities, known as the 'Hanging Temple of the Southwest', and is the largest ancient architectural complex in Guizhou Province. Check in at Zhusheng Bridge, which is an ancient bridge that has experienced more than 600 years of historical vicissitudes. Originally named 'Xiqiao', it was renamed 'Zhusheng Bridge' after Emperor Kangxi celebrated his birthday. Walk through the ancient streets of the town, where the ancient alleys are quiet and winding, the stone bridges and city walls are scattered in an orderly manner, and the spring river fishing lights are dim!

Zhenyuan Ancient Town is located in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, and is an ancient town with a history of more than 2,000 years. The natural scenery here is beautiful, the ancient architectural complex is well-preserved, and the ethnic culture is rich and colorful. Compared to the hustle and bustle of Miao villages, this place is a better choice for a quiet and relaxing, slow-paced place. Recommendations❗️❗️ During the day, you can go to Libo (as mentioned before) or go river rafting in Zhenyuan (costing about 220 yuan), and at night, visit Zhenyuan to see the night view of the Wuyang River. The night view here is very beautiful🌃, taking a walk and eating late-night snacks is quite nice, while the daytime is just average. ✅ One of the most beautiful ancient towns in China ✅ A less crowded and beautiful ancient town ✅ Full of lively atmosphere ✅ A great place to cool off in summer ✅ Super beautiful riverside night view 🎫 Ticket: The ancient town is free, other places require tickets 🚗 Distance: About 223km from Guiyang city, approximately a 3-hour drive ⏰ Recommended visiting time: 1 or 2 days 🟠 Zhusheng Bridge, Qinglong Cave This place is a landmark of Zhenyuan, with a great night view. You can look up at the Shiqing Mountain, and next to it is the Qinglong Cave ancient architectural complex, which requires a ticket of 60 yuan per person. Personally, I suggest you don't need to go, just stand on the opposite pier to see the full view🏔 🟠 Shiping Mountain The only way is to walk up, which allows you to overlook the entire ancient town, and the perspective from the top is super great. Since we were with children, we did not climb it. Those who want to enjoy the panoramic view of the ancient town can go there. There is also an ancient city wall on the top, 30 yuan per person, open from 8:00 to 16:30 every day for entry 🟠 Ancient Streets The alleys and architectural complexes of the ancient streets are quite distinctive, worth checking in. Walking along the riverside streets at night to see the night view is super nice. The new bridge at night offers a view of the lights on both sides of the river, very suitable for a family outing and relaxation🎶 🥢 Food Recommendations: There are many delicacies in the ancient town, tofu pudding, and grilled fish with tofu are local specialties, highly recommended. We found a popular local restaurant: Gu Cheng Miao Jia Tu Cai Guan, which also has a river view! 👀 🏠 Accommodation Recommendations: There are many accommodations, you can choose according to your needs. If you want quiet, you can choose near Zhusheng Bridge; if you want convenience, choose near the new bridge. There are also river view rooms with balconies available, but the price is relatively expensive!
