Azaleas of Luoyang: Come on, be conquered by me like this~
In mid-April, the mountain flowers in Luoyang bloom again.
This time, the star is the vibrant azalea.
In the past few days, patches and clusters of azaleas in the deep mountain valleys around Luoyang have quietly spread their spring passion, turning the entire hillside red.
I have selected the best spots around Luoyang where azaleas are in full bloom for you.
Here is the "Spring Azalea Sea Check-in Guide." Pick a good day and let's go see this dreamlike mountain and field painting together.
Right now is the golden period to enjoy the azaleas at Xitai Mountain. The azalea sea here is vast and diverse, mainly fiery red, interspersed with rare varieties in pink-purple and pure white.
As far as the eye can see, the red looks like burning flames, the white like pure winter snow, in clusters and bunches, passionate and unrestrained. Strolling along the carefully crafted flower viewing paths in the scenic area, a gentle breeze brings a faint elegant floral fragrance, and the eyes are filled with brilliant blossoms.
Currently, the 24th Ruyang Azalea Flower Viewing Festival is underway. The festival features colorful activities: azalea fairies in Hanfu parades and immersive flower experiences, allowing you not only to see the flowers but also to "step into the scene."
Whether traveling with family, friends, or alone for a spring outing, you can immerse yourself in the natural beauty of spring here and fully enjoy the romance and stunning views brought by the sea of azaleas.
Want to see what azaleas blooming in the clouds look like? You must visit Baiyun Mountain.
From 1600 meters to 2200 meters in elevation, different azalea species bloom in succession, weaving an endless brocade.
Standing on Yuhuang Peak, overlooking the entire mountain range, the azalea sea appears and disappears in the mist, sometimes revealing a patch of crimson, sometimes hiding deep in the clouds. The ruggedness and softness perfectly blend at this moment, sketching the unique spring romance of Baiyun Mountain.
Wandering in the secret realm of blooming flowers, intoxicated by boundless spring colors, admiring the azaleas on the mountains while climbing high to enjoy the view, you can take in the extraordinary spring scenery of Baiyun Mountain.
If you're lucky, you might also encounter the spring-exclusive sea of clouds at Baiyun Mountain. Enjoy the spring scenery, smell the flowers, admire the peaks, and watch the sea of clouds as if walking on clouds, refreshing your mind and spirit.
The high-altitude azalea blooming period at Baiyun Mountain will last until around May 20.
At the end of April, the azaleas at Laojun Mountain will bloom one after another. The Taibai azalea has large flowers, pure white like snow; the elegant azalea is brightly colored, adding a touch of warmth to Laojun Mountain. Pink-purple and bright red cover the mountains, contrasting beautifully with the distant green mountains and the golden, resplendent summit.
Riding the cable car slowly upward, surrounded by mist and clouds, with flowers and trees blending beneath your feet, you might truly wonder if you are walking through a dream.
Standing on Mazong Ridge or the Golden Summit, looking at the azaleas covering the mountains, some pink, some white, some intense, some light, the whole mountain seems to come alive with vibrant energy.
Besides viewing the sea of clouds, climbing the summit, and riding the cable car, you can also experience special activities while enjoying the flowers at Laojun Mountain:
"Knowing Laojun Mountain," an immersive performance located at the Tiangong Theater beside the Golden Summit of Laojun Mountain in Henan. This is the nation's first stage art work presenting Laozi's philosophy through audiovisual art language. It combines Laozi's thoughts with artistic expression through beautiful, poetic, and simple language.

If you prefer a quiet and less crowded place, Tianchi Mountain in Song County will definitely surprise you.
Tianchi Mountain is located in the northwest of Song County, covered by 98.57% forest, represented by azaleas, dawn redwoods, and larches.
At the end of April, azaleas bloom, their soft silk-like petals forming clusters that contrast beautifully with the green mountains and forests, becoming the most dazzling presence in the lush mountain scenery.
Walking inside, you can feel the vitality permeating every corner of the mountain, and the "liveliness" of the azaleas seems to be part of it.

This place not only has rich vegetation but also abundant negative oxygen ions, allowing you to breathe the fresh air of this natural oxygen bar freely in the mountains.
Pitch a tent under the canopy for an immersive mountain camping experience, with babbling streams, cool breezes under the trees, morning bird songs, and starry nights.
If you want to experience the local culture and history, you can also visit the scenic spots along the tourist trails such as Feilai Stone, Tianchi, Yunu Creek, and Erlang Gorge.
Baihe Town is located deep in the Funiu Mountains. Currently, the thousand-acre Yingshanhong azalea base in Huangbaishu Village, Baihe Town, Song County, is in full bloom, with azaleas competing in beauty and blooming in succession.
The azaleas here carry a simple beauty. They bloom where the clouds meet the sky, at mountain road corners, and in the cracks by the streams. Just walk slowly along the mountain path, and wherever the flowers bloom, you will see them.
Many visitors come here for spring outings and flower viewing, with crowded mountain trails filled with laughter and joy, creating a lively spring travel atmosphere everywhere.
Besides azaleas, Baihe Town features green mountains and peaks, rivers and streams crisscrossing, ponds and waterfalls, natural scenery like Longchiman and Baihe Source, as well as cultural sites such as the thousand-year-old ginkgo forest and Yunyan Temple, making it perfect for vacation and leisure.
I. Safety Precautions
1. Weather changes frequently, be prepared
Spring has large temperature differences between day and night. Bring windproof jackets and quick-dry clothes to avoid catching a cold.
Check the weather forecast in advance, beware of sudden rain or strong winds, and carry rain gear and emergency thermal blankets.
2. Plan your route and act within your limits
Choose established trails, avoid exploring undeveloped areas alone; mark forks or use navigation apps if encountered.
Plan your time reasonably according to your physical condition to avoid being stranded in the mountains after dark.
3. Pack light and practical
Wear anti-slip hiking shoes, carry trekking poles for assistance; bring enough drinking water, high-calorie snacks, and a simple first aid kit.
Keep your phone fully charged, carry a power bank, and save emergency numbers (such as scenic area management and 110).
II. Forest Fire Prevention
1. Strictly prohibit all fire sources
No lighters or matches allowed in forest areas; smoking, cooking, and burning paper money are forbidden. If you see others violating fire rules, stop them or contact management.
2. Properly handle flammable items
Do not discard self-heating food packs, glass bottles (which may focus sunlight and ignite fires), etc. Use sealed bags to carry them down the mountain. Collect wet wipes, food packaging, and other trash to avoid leaving litter in the forest.
3. Stay calm in case of fire
If you see flames or smoke, move away immediately and call 119 or the scenic area's fire emergency number. Do not attempt to extinguish the fire yourself.
When escaping, move against the wind along existing roads and avoid dense shrub areas.
※ Friendly reminder: The scenic area is crowded, so be sure to call ahead to check reservation status.
Also, due to recent strong winds, please pay attention to safety, take precautions, and plan your trip reasonably.
