A Roadtrip To Sapa(Cat Cat Village)
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam which is also filled with insane amount of traffic. Normally travellers will arrive into Hanoi, roughly a day stay or 2 before they head out, and for us we went towards the village of Sapa where Cat Cat Village is located.
One way to get here is to hire a private tour bus to drive you to sapa as this can be almost a 6 hours drive.
Upon reaching Sapa, you be greeted with views of the mountains areas as Cat Cat Village technically is situated at the base of fansipan and most tourists will stop here for a night or 2 to enjoy the traditional local food and especially to catch the view from afar of Fansipan. Its quite an amazing view from Cat Cat Village alone, so you should definitely stop here before heading up.

Sapa Must Do!!!
Getting There - sleeper bus from hanoi. Got it from klook and it’s not say that decent, given that I asked for a single seat bus but was given double seater bus
Attractions - sapa is beautiful with its rice padi fields and landscapes and terrace farming. FANSIPAN is a must go mountain, the scenery up the cable car and monorail is nice! cat cat village is touristy, but that’s where we enjoyed the little shops that sells fancy handmade souvenirs at a cheap price
Hotels - we stayed at “my gallery boutique” with mountain view
Food & Restaurants - the “good morning cafe” nearby serves really good food! my fav is the egg coffee
Shopping - souvenir stalls around

Beautiful tribal village in Sapa
Getting There - Bus from Sapa town
Attractions - the traditional village of the minority here. There’s a fair bit of steps to go down to the village. Along the way, you can admire the mountain view of Sapa. We came here in the late afternoon and managed to see the sunset. So beautiful.
This used to be a real village but now turned to tourist attraction. Don’t expect to see “real” activities going-on in the village. But you will get a glimpse of their daily life. The water fall at the bottom of the village is beautiful for some photo opportunities.
There’s also a display of how the tribal ladies made the handicraft cloth (thổ cẩm). They used the traditional method of dying and thus their hands are also dyed with blue.

Hiking in Sapa During Winter
As I stepped foot in the enchanting town of Sapa during the tail end of winter season, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by the beauty of the landscape that surrounded me. The rice terraces were blanketed in thick fog, making the area look mystical.
Eager to explore this landscape, my friends and I decided to hire a hiking guide to navigate the trails. Our guide was a local Hmong lady with an infectious passion for the mountains. With her guidance, we embarked on an unforgettable adventure through the slippery rice terraces and valleys.
Every step we took revealed breathtaking vistas of jagged mountains piercing through the clouds. Our guide shared stories of her childhood and job, offering glimpses into the rich cultural heritage of the ethnic minority tribes inhabiting the region. She also had lunch with us, at a restaurant in her village. The food was simple, but delicious.
Hiking in Sapa during winter was a true test of endurance, but the rewards were immeasurable. The solitude and serenity found in nature, combined with the companionship of our guide and fellow trekkers, made this an unforgettable experience.

Winter Chills
#2023travelwish It has been my long time dream to experience winter. The first time I experienced the beauty of winter was this December when my fiancé and I went to Sa pa Vietnam. The place was amazing! It exceeded our expectation. The food were great, the coffee shops were excellent. We loved walking around the place feeling the cold breeze of the winter air. It was just sad that we didn’t get to see snow as they only have it in January until early March. Our travel wish this coming 2023 is to experience winter again, see real snow and visit places that realizes our imagination of a winter wonderland. #donnahtheexplorer #winter #vietnam #coldbreeze

Sa Pa Sisters
Situated at the Northwest of Hanoi is Sa Pa, a popular trekking site which oversees the rice field. You can go on the trek yourself or join a group led by the tribes. We took the SaPa sisters group trek where a portion of the money you paid goes to the SaPa sisters to help with their daily expenses. They really do not earn a lot 🥲 but they lead with such passion. Beautiful scenery as you trek, but be careful what you buy or you would attract a village of kids 🤪
PS. you do need a certain physical level to join the trek as some are quite difficult to get to. For the adventurous, you can choose to join the most difficult level!
