Scansano travel guide and discussion

Step into the timeless charm and slow-living magic of rural Tuscany! 🍇🏰 Get ready for a day weaving through ancient gates, sleepy villages, and postcard-perfect towers—from the medieval streets of Magliano in Toscana to the enchanting corners of Scansano. Start your journey at Porta Di Ponente (SS323, 1, 58051 Scansano GR), an impressive city gate offering dramatic first views of walled Magliano. Continue to Pereta for the Torre dell'Orologio (Via Della Torre, 58051 Pereta): climb the winding stairs for picture-perfect panoramas of hilltop rooftops and rolling countryside—best snapped at golden hour! Just steps away, visit Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista (Via Roma, 46, 58051 Pereta), where the peaceful stone interior feels centuries away from the rush of everyday life. Don’t miss the detail-rich altar for intimate photos. Wander to Torre di Pereta (Piazza Morandini, 9), a striking defensive tower—snap a shot from below with the blue Tuscan sky framing its stone arches. Wrap up your stroll at Le Cascine (Via XX Settembre, 27, 58054 Scansano GR), a tranquil green park ideal for a picnic with fresh bread, pecorino cheese, and local wine. Tips: Most of these villages feel frozen in time—arrive early or late afternoon for serene streets and soft sunlight. Wear comfy shoes (cobblestones abound!) and have cash handy for small-town cafés or gelato. While the towers and churches are generally open, check in advance for mid-day closures. #Tuscany #MaglianoInToscana #Scansano #TravelItaly #HiddenGems#mediterraneanvibes #mediterranean

This opening from the terrace of this Abbey, opens up Florence like a pop up book for adults. You can see tourists to your left and right taking photos in the hope that they can once again revisit this place if not in body, at least in spirit. Now, for those that want a park with a view, be sure to visit Giardino delle rose (The Rose Garden).
