Woodland Park Zoo was truly an amazing experience! Not only is the zoo spacious, but it is also thoughtfully designed, making visitors feel as though they have entered the natural habitats of the animals. The zoo features various animal zones, each designed to reflect the ecological environment of the animals, such as the African Savannah Zone and the Tropical Rainforest Zone, which are highly educational. My favorite was the Tropical Rainforest Zone. Walking into it felt like stepping into a tropical jungle, surrounded by lush greenery and fascinating animals, such as brightly colored birds and monkeys. The enormous African elephant exhibit was also incredible. Standing by the fence and seeing the elephants up close was truly awe-inspiring.

Recently, the weather has been clear, and the tulips at Green Lake have started to bloom one after another! Under the sunshine, complemented by the lake water, spring takes shape here. Geographic magazine recommended train route — Coast Starlight ✨ An item on my life bucket list, and I finally completed it! ✔️ 🌈 Los Angeles to Seattle, about 35 hours in total, plus stops and delays, roughly a 37-hour slow journey. This time I booked a Roomette, car 10, left side on the second floor (with a sea view), a very small room with two seats facing each other, surprisingly comfortable to sit in. The seats pull out into a single bed, and another bed can be placed above. The restroom and shower are shared, with free water and coffee. Simple meals are provided on board, which can be delivered to the room or you can go to the dining car and share a table with others. The attendants regularly knock on the door to greet you, and the menu is fixed. 🚂 The train travels from south to north, leaving the city, along the coastline, passing forests, towns, farmland, snow-capped mountains, lakes, and rice fields, finally weaving back into the city. I saw, beaches, cliffs, seabirds, surfers, seaside cottages. From summer seas, autumn red leaves, to winter snow mountains— rich natural scenery and culture, like a movie unfolding before my eyes, as if traveling through the four seasons. ☀️ Although it was shakier than expected, when sunlight poured through the window, my body felt warm, napping when sleepy, then being awakened by the scenery outside. The view was as beautiful as an oil painting, traveling slowly, watching the scenery slowly, letting thoughts settle slowly— and just like that, 37 hours quietly passed.

In the center of the sphere, a banyan tree stretches from the ground floor to the top, accessible up close from all floors; there is also a green plant wall cascading down like a green waterfall, creating a striking visual impact that is unforgettable. The interior design of The Spheres is full of clever ideas, combining a natural immersive experience with office functionality. Among the plants are uniquely shaped work and rest areas, creating a workspace, communication, and relaxation environment that feels like being in nature, where technology and greenery coexist. The Spheres is only open to the public for free on the first and third Saturdays of each month, and reservations must be made 15 days in advance through the official website. We made full preparations in advance and were fortunate to successfully "grab tickets." A detailed reservation guide will be shared in another article~ On the day, many Chinese friends at the site were unable to enter due to not understanding the reservation rules and could only sigh at the entrance while looking at the "sphere." 🇺🇸 Seattle, Washington, USA 💚 L&L Hawaiian Barbecue On the last day of my trip to Seattle, I stopped by L&L Hawaiian Barbecue for a meal before heading to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. It's just a 15-minute walk from the airport, making it a highly recommended spot if you're looking for a good place to eat near the airport. I ordered the BBQ mix and kimchi (Kim chee), and the total came to $18. The BBQ mix includes two scoops of white rice, LA galbi, bulgogi, chicken teriyaki, and macaroni salad. Unlimited refillable drinks are also included. I also ordered kimchi separately for $2.75, but the owner kindly gave it to me as a complimentary service, which I really appreciated. The combination of sweetly sauced beef on white rice topped with tangy kimchi brought a smile to my face. The LA galbi was so tender that I didn’t even need to cut it, and the chicken teriyaki was incredibly juicy. The portions were generous, so I split it into two meals—an early lunch and a late dinner—which worked out perfectly. To have two hearty meals in the U.S. for just $18 is truly a great value. I was so satisfied with L&L Hawaiian Barbecue that I think I’ll make it a regular stop whenever I use Seattle-Tacoma International Airport 🇺🇸💚

After visiting the Amazon headquarters Sphere in Seattle, working inside the three glass greenhouse spheres in the bustling city center, I think the person who came up with this idea must be quite sentimental. The temperature and humidity throughout the building are especially comfortable. Every morning, you can freely take bananas from the banana carts. When work gets tiring, you can go see the tropical plants and little frogs. The company also regularly introduces new species, holds various flower exhibitions and other events, and has dedicated staff to explain everything to everyone. However, freshly ground coffee is limited to one cup per person per day, along with some other benefits. Friends from Amazon, please feel free to add more! You can visit on the 1️⃣st and 3️⃣rd Saturdays of each month, but you need to book a spot 15 days in advance. Our trip was too rushed and unplanned; checking just one day before, there were no available spots. I’m grateful to my junior who traveled from Shenyang to Sichuan University to USC to Seattle. Just after posting on Xiaohongshu, I saw her message, and then she took the two of us inside to visit the Sphere we had been longing to see. Located in an alley next to Pike Place Market, this peculiar art installation invites visitors to unleash their creativity 🤣. In stark contrast, Singapore strictly prohibits the sale, import, and manufacture of chewing gum. Travelers are allowed to bring a small amount for personal use but must dispose of it properly. This creates a sharp contrast with Seattle's Gum Wall experience! I mustered up the courage to take a perspective photo with the gum wall—life achievement unlocked ✌️✌️✌️. #2024 Trip Review The University of Washington in Seattle has 15 libraries, among which the Suzzallo Library is famous for its Harry Potter Hogwarts Reading Room. Opened in 1926, the Suzzallo Library remains a central research center, providing a variety of study spaces for students and open to visitors year-round. I drove in from the Bronze W (North) entrance that day. The large W sign at the entrance signaled I was entering the Washington campus! There was a large parking lot on the right, next to the Burke Memorial-Washington State Museum (BRK) (parking fee required). After parking, walk along the main road for about 30 minutes until you'll find the library. In addition to the Suzzallo Library, the campus also boasts numerous historic buildings and other libraries, making it well worth the detour to admire them. I recommend starting from the road leading in from PACCAR Hall (PCAR). Along the way, you'll discover many incredibly beautiful buildings and scenes. My pace slowed down, and I marveled at how well American schools have preserved these buildings. Upon arriving at Kane Hall (KNE), you'll see a large plaza, adjacent to the renowned Suzzallo Library. This magnificent Gothic-style building boasts 18 columns, each adorned with statues of famous figures such as Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci, and Plato. After entering, there are corridors on either side leading to the second floor, where you'll reach your destination. It was afternoon, and the sunlight filtering down the stairwell was breathtaking, attracting many to pause and snap photos. Upstairs, turn left and you'll be greeted by a breathtaking spectacle: colorful glass windows, symmetrical arched stone beams, a massive ceiling chandelier, a suspended antique chandelier, and long, sleek wooden tables and chairs. While photography is permitted, please remember that this is also a student library, so please remain quiet and refrain from lingering for too long. Besides the library, I also recommend visiting the University Bookstore on campus. Besides textbooks, it also sells a wide variety of school merchandise. Don't miss it now that you're here, though the prices are quite high! Also, every American university has its own mascot; the University of Washington's is a husky, which is incredibly adorable. 📅 Itinerary Just a one day stop over in Seattle to catch a flight home. If you’re thinking what to do if you have one day in Seattle, there’s lots you can actually do! Day1：Arrived in Seattle from Boston in late evening. Checked into DoubleTree Hilton Seatac hotel that provided free shuttle service to/from airport. Day2: Walked to Seatac station to take Green Line 1 to Pioneer Square station. Many attractions are located in the vicinity. 1. Waterfall garden park 2. Pioneer Square 3. Underground city 4. Pier 54 and Aquarium 5. Pikes Place Market 6. Took a bus and walked up to Kerry Park. 7. Weather was good. Decided to walk to Space Needle Centre. Of course there’s bus to get there too. 8. Pacific Science Centre 9. Also visited Chinatown 10. Took a Green line 1 from International District back to Seatac station and walked back to hotel.
