Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region) A great place for a walk with beautiful views alongside these well preserved city walls. They are part of a historical-artistic complex that includes: 14th-century walls, aqueducts, towers and gates, the entire complex has been declared a cultural heritage site. There is a trail around the wall that crosses it and in the area we pass through Torre del Verdugo, because on one hand it is possible to run parallel to the growth wall and on the other hand to admire beautiful views. Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region) This monument is a must-see photo stop when visiting Segorbe. You can visit three intact arcades with pointed arches with ashlar works, from here you can visit the Archaeological and Ethnological Museum and continue your journey outside the walls around the town before re-entering the old town. The surviving parts of the aqueduct are in very good condition and allow us to really understand the importance of these structures, and the complex plant used in their construction. Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region) The Town Hall is located in the Plaza Agua Médica, in a 16th-century palace of the Dukes of Segorbe, and was built in the first half of the 20th century. Since its acquisition in 1864, it has been used as a town hall and was later restored in the mid-20th century. Next to the facade, we see a descriptive panel with an overview of the property’s history. Inside there are three marble and jasper porticoes from the Royal Cartuja de Valdecristo. It has noteworthy aspects and is worth visiting. The palace’s first floor houses a meeting room decorated with a 16th-century coffered ceiling. It is in Mudejar style, with an octagonal gold star and a four-pointed star. In one of the rooms on the first floor there is also a coffered ceiling with Italian-style coffered ceilings and diamond-pointed stars. Both coffered ceilings are among the most important in the Valencian Community. Admission to the Town Hall is of course free. #February2025 #SpainTravel #Valencia

It was built in the 13th century in conjunction with the defensive wall, but it wasn’t until the 15th century that several different works were completed. The Gothic church has a nave and side chapels. The doorway was built in the 16th and 17th centuries. The choir stalls are Baroque in style and date from the 18th century. The monastery is Gothic, with a 15th-century church in one corner. The Cathedral Museum is located in the upper cloister, accessed via an 18th-century staircase. The Municipal Museum is dedicated to the archaeology and ethnology of the Castellón Alto Palancia region. Archaeological material recovered from various regional sites is displayed in six rooms in chronological order, allowing a global perspective on the development of Upper Palencia during this vast period. The contents are displayed inside the box, with corresponding drawings, photos and explanatory texts arranged inside and outside the box to help understand the contents. The upper floor is dedicated to ethnology, showing typical tools, objects and materials of traditional crafts from Segorbe and the surrounding area. #February2025 #SpainTravel #Valencia

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region) The collection includes works from the cathedral, cloisters and chapels. Besides these there were fragments from the monastery of the Valley of the Crystals, and some objects which the bishop had received from the parish church. Of particular note is the Donatello Room, which houses the Madonna and Child made by the Italian master in Carrara marble, as well as some 16th-century Limousin enamels and other precious metalwork. The largest section is the painting section, which mainly features religious themes. The Old Masters Gallery is particularly important. It has Gothic paintings, including panels and altarpieces such as St. Luke, The Visitation of Mary, Santa Clara and Santa Eulalia, The Last Supper, and works by Jacomar, Rexach, Martín Toner, Pere Serra, Rodrigo de Osona Jr., and others. The panel comes from the cathedral's magnificent main altarpiece (removed in 1791), which was painted between 1525 and 1531 and is considered a towering work. #February2025 #SpainTravel #Valencia

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region) The village of Segobe is situated on a fertile plain washed by the Palancia River. Its medieval layout hides some architectural gems, such as the cathedral and the remains of ancient city walls. The remains of a medieval castle on the nearby hill of La Estrella recall Segorbe’s palatial origins. Named after the abundant springs found in the area, Plaza Agua Limpia is the town's nerve centre. There is the Town Hall, built in the 16th century and formerly the palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli. The Cathedral of Santa Maria was built in Gothic style and was later rebuilt in Neoclassical style. Its interior contains seven chapels and a beautiful cloister, a valuable manuscript preserved in the archives, and a series of paintings in the chapel. Several churches stand out in the medieval layout of the city: the Church of San Pedro, the Church of San Martín, the Church of San Joaquín and the Church of Santa Ana. Due to its past defense, the village still preserves the round tower of Bottessi and the tower of the prison, which were once part of the ancient walls, together with the Veronica Arch. Finally, we can end our tour of the city by visiting the Cathedral Museum, the Archaeological Museum and the Ethnological Museum. The local festival celebrations in Segorbe, which has been declared a tourist attraction, take place at the end of August and include a busy program full of cultural, religious and entertainment activities. #February2025 #SpainTravel #Valencia
