On my fourth trip to Indonesia, I started exploring some lesser-known spots more deeply. I chose Lombok Island, where hiking Mount Rinjani was just one of the main goals. Another key mission was to explore the southern coast of Lombok. · This time, based at the Pullman Lombok hotel, we explored the island’s unique coastal erosion formations, enchanting islands, and distinctive cultural landscapes 🖼️. · Day 1 morning: Watch the sunrise at Merese Hill (photos 1–3) This is a long cape stretching into the sea. When the sun rises over the ocean, its light shines on the rolling terrain and low vegetation, filling the island with a wild beauty that almost overflows. · Day 1 sunset: See the cattle return to the pen at Selong Belanak beach (photos 4–5) About 20 km west of the hotel, this beach features one of Lombok’s most iconic cultural scenes—at sunset, farmers herd their cattle peacefully across the beach back to the pen. This scene is so emblematic that even Lombok airport displays photos of cattle on the beach. Anyone who visits this beach can capture the official shot. Beyond the beach, there’s a huge rock called Rock Krebs (photo 6), which is also worth photographing. · - Day 2 morning: Visit the heart-shaped island on the southeast coast (photos 7–8) On the second morning, we drove to the southeast corner of Lombok, where a small island called Maringkik is hidden. Viewed from a drone, the island is heart-shaped ❤️ and covered with houses. I wonder what life is like living on this island? Further southeast of the island, there are several pink sand beaches. From the lighthouse nearby, you can see Sumbawa Island across the strait (photo 9). · Day 2 sunset: Watch the sunset at Bukit Seger (photos 10–11) Just a 15-minute walk from the hotel, this small hill offers an easy hike to a high vantage point where you can look over the winding coast and enjoy Lombok’s gentle sunset. · Besides exploring the coast and capturing sunrises and sunsets, we spent most of the daytime at the Pullman hotel enjoying the pool, spa, and gym, or trying various water sports, go-karting, and paragliding. The answer is...yes! 🥹🌸 Actually, Indonesia has many Pink Beaches, but the one we visited was on a large island. We just showed the driver a picture, and he immediately knew where we wanted to go! 😆 The pink color of the beach comes from red coral fragments mixed with the white sand, giving it a lovely soft pinkish-peach tone. The color is even more vibrant in the sunlight 💕 The sand here is incredibly soft, and the water is crystal clear. The contrast between the blue and pink sand is stunning, like a painting. It's one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever been to! 🌊✨ We went in August, which is high season. The weather was great, the sky was clear, and the water was beautiful. This however does not put a steady stream of visitors to the beach off, which speaks volumes about how special this place is. There are only a handful of pink beaches around the world with other notable ones in the Bahamas and on Lombok. However neither of these have quite the same degree of pinkness as Komodo Island’s Pink beach. Set in a small, south-facing bay the sand is only a small part of the beach’s appeal. Equally striking is the brilliant blue, crystalline water that laps the shoreline. Although it seems a long way to travel just to kick back in the sun, Pink beach has such a relaxed feel to it you may not be able to resist. If you do feel compelled to do something more active you have a few choices. One is to take a hike up the hill that overlooks the beach ; here you will get the best views and photos of this unique place.
