Shipley travel guide and discussion

Living just 30 minutes away, we decided to visit the old mills where the TV program Sewing Bee is filmed. There’s ample free parking available, which is a plus. The place is quite expansive, with numerous small units in the historic buildings—mostly craft and sewing shops—alongside areas showcasing where the old looms were once used. A free map is highly recommended upon arrival since the layout resembles a rabbit warren, though signs are well-placed throughout the complex. Lifts are also available for those who need them. Scattered across the site are small cafes perfect for grabbing a tea, coffee, or cake. The environment reminded me a bit of Salts Mill, especially in areas with various sellers. We spent three hours exploring and thoroughly enjoyed it. The experience was excellent, and if you’re into sewing or crafts, it’s absolutely worth a visit. Definitely recommend this for a unique outing!

📅 Itinerary Day1:Bradford city centre, City Park & National Science and Media Museum Day2: Saltaire, Salts Mill & beautiful riverside wal Day3: Haworth & Brontë Parsonage, with a peaceful countryside wal 🏨 Accommodation :- A cosy hotel in/near Bradford city centre, close to the main attractions and transport. 🍴 Food Recommendations Bradford-style curry, Pakistani/Indian food, kebabs & a nice dessert/coffee stop. 📌 Tips Wear comfy shoes 👟, keep some time for exploring little streets and local shops, and don’t miss Saltaire and Haworth. Bradford has lots of culture, heritage and beautiful places just a short journey from the city.

Saltaire is an absolute must-visit if you’re all about vibes, history, and cool Instagram spots! Tucked away in West Yorkshire (Victoria Rd, Saltaire, Shipley BD18 3LF), this UNESCO World Heritage village is the definition of timeless charm. Think cobblestone streets, stunning Victorian architecture, and local shops that are sooo kitsch—they basically invented quirky-cute. The social scene here is alive and buzzing, with cute cafés and indie boutiques everywhere you look. If you’re a history buff, you’ll fall in love with how every building has a story. And let's talk about the Saltaire United Reformed Church, which looks straight out of a movie! (Open daily, usually 10:00–16:00, check on trip.com for updates). Bonus point: Make sure to stroll through the old graveyard nearby—it’s got those moody, mysterious vibes perfect for artsy photos 📸. It’s a little spooky but honestly, sooo cool. Whether you’re coming for the scenery or just for the chill atmosphere, Saltaire is serving up major main character energy.

Train to Bingley then walk to Saltaire, explore the mill & train home 😁

The are few holidays more British than taking to a narrowboat and travelling via canals and down locks across the British countryside. The Leeds Liverpool canal that crossed the Pennines in the north of England is one of the perfect sports for this. You will pass through the picturesque towns of Skipton and Saltaire and view famous sights such as Malham cove during your tranquil journey on the water. #chillandthrill

Gorgeous visit to Salts Mill opened in 1853 - now a museum, gallery, bookshop, restaurant and more. Open to the community for free. Lots of stunning original features from its time as one of UK’s largest working mill.

#summerdestinations

In this corner of West Yorkshire the historic mills their houses and the cobbled streets remain in tact The townspeople here work together every Christmas to make a living advent calendar in the windows and the mill is now a space for artists and creatures a like #2024wish My 2024 wish is to travel to Zanzibar, snorkeling and spending time in the sea. I'm hoping to enjoy some winter sun and enjoy the different island offerings.

It’s a nice place to visit.
