The shrine just behind Koshien Stadium ⚾️⛩【Susanoo Shrine】
I went to Koshien Susanoo Shrine⛩, which has been here long before Koshien Stadium was built!
It seems that many people come from all over the country to get baseball ball-shaped or base-shaped charms and votive plaques🤲
There are also nameplates of the Koshien winning schools on display☀️

A Special Cultural Exchange at Gakuyu-kan: The Ochatto Room in Shiso
During my visit to the Shiso City Lifelong Learning Center Gakuyu-kan (宍粟市 生涯学習センター学遊館), I had the pleasure of joining the inaugural Ochatto Room event hosted by the Shiso International Association.
This wonderful gathering brought together people from diverse backgrounds to enjoy engaging conversations, forge new friendships, and share in cultural exchange.
The highlight of the day was an incredible BBQ featuring plenty of meat, including pork and chicken, all while thoughtfully accommodating various dietary needs such as religious preferences and food allergies.
The relaxed, conversational atmosphere made it incredibly easy to connect with both friendly locals and international residents.
Located at 18 Yamasakicho Higashishimono, Shiso, Hyogo 671-2504, Gakuyu-kan is a multipurpose learning hub situated in the northern part of Yamasaki. Easily accessible by car, it makes for a fantastic stop while exploring the Shiso area.
The facility also proudly celebrates its sister-city relationship with Sequim, Washington State, USA, complete with a special anniversary monument on site.
For travelers who love to plan ahead, community events like the Ochatto Room offer a highly unique way to discover the authentic, local side of Japan and experience global friendship far beyond typical sightseeing.

\ Exploring Shiso! An Izumo Mythology Trip /.
Took a weekend drive to Shiso City🚗✨
While hopping between Iwa Shrine, Niwata Shrine, and Mikata Shrine,
I visited spots deeply connected to Izumo mythology☺️
This time, my route was
a three-shrine pilgrimage: "Iwa Shrine → Niwata Shrine → Mikata Shrine"⛩️✨
Tracing the footsteps of Okuninushi no Kami (also known as Oanamuchi no Kami)—the same deity enshrined at Izumo Taisha—
along with his children and other manifestations,
this half-day road trip was themed around myths, forests, and sake🚗🌿
📍Iwa Shrine
A historic shrine known as the highest-ranking shrine (Ichinomiya) in Harima Province⛩️
Stepping through the giant torii gate, I was welcomed by the soothing, sacred air of the surrounding forest🌿
It’s dedicated to Okuninushi no Kami (Oanamuchi no Kami)
and is said to be the place where he rested after completing the creation of Harima Province✨
Right next door is
⚫︎Otome no Izumi (Maiden's Spring)
A spot famous for its pure water!
With stone statues and monuments scattered around,
it has a slightly mystical vibe.
📍Michi-no-Eki Harima Ichinomiya
A quick break during my shrine tour🍦
This roadside station is located right in front of Iwa Shrine!
⚫︎Vanilla & Matcha Soft Serve (400 yen)
The rich matcha and mildly sweet vanilla were a perfect match😍
It tasted even better because it was such a warm day~!
📍Niwata Shrine
A tranquil shrine surrounded by lush trees🌲
Just walking along the approach brought me such a sense of peace✨
The enshrined deity is Kotoshironushi no Mikoto,
the child of Okuninushi no Kami.
It's also known as the birthplace of Japanese sake🍶
The trees on the grounds made me feel like I’d wandered into a Ghibli movie—
it was incredibly magical😮💨
📍Mikata Shrine @mikata_jinja
A shrine where a massive ema (wooden wishing plaque) catches your eye🐎
This year’s giant ema was on display, and it was so impressive!
The enshrined deity is Ashihara-shiko-o no Kami.
Known as another name for Okuninushi no Kami,
this place felt like the grand finale to his nation-building tale✨
Touring these shrines dedicated to Okuninushi no Mikoto, the hero of Izumo mythology,
made for a deeply relaxing day off surrounded by nature☺️🌿
I’d love to come back and visit in a different season~✨

Hara Fudo Falls in Shiso City, Hyogo Prefecture, is a famous waterfall that has been selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, and the way it flows down in three tiers is very beautiful💧
It is surrounded by virgin forests of beech and fir, and it feels like you've wandered into a secret place in the forest🌳
When I actually visited, I was surrounded by the sound of the waterfall and the clear air, and my heart felt lighter🍃
The promenade is well maintained, so even beginners can walk there with peace of mind.
The view of the waterfall from the suspension bridge is spectacular and makes for great photos📸
🚗Access:
