During my trip to Lingbi, I found a stylish light luxury hotel with great ambiance — SMT · Lancheng Scenic View Light Luxury Hotel (Lingbi County People's Hospital Branch). Located in the Wanshicheng commercial area, the hotel is in a very convenient spot. The building has a full range of shops downstairs, making it easy to grab a meal or go shopping. It also has its own parking lot, which is great for self-driving travelers. Guest rooms are on upper floors, and the floor-to-ceiling windows are the biggest highlight. During the day, sunlight fills the room with a soft, airy glow; at night, sit by the window and watch the city lights slowly come to life. The rooms feature a minimalist light luxury style with soft, skin-friendly bedding. A fresh air system keeps the room well-ventilated at all times, and toiletries are fully stocked. Attention to cleanliness is impressive — after a long day of travel, you can truly unwind here. 📌 Quick Lingbi itinerary (relaxed 1–2 day version) ▫️ Qishi Cultural Park: Check out the "No.1 Stone Under Heaven" Lingbi stone. The Huizhou-style gardens are great for photos and quiet stone appreciation. ▫️ Yuji Cultural Park: Explore the story of Farewell My Concubine and soak in the ancient charm of the Chu-Han period. ▫️ Zhongkui Cultural Park: Climb up to see Kuifeng Tower and learn about local folk culture. 🍜 Must-try local food Fengmiao sesame cakes, mutton soup, "Farewell My Concubine" (soft-shell turtle stewed with chicken), and Northern Anhui ground pot chicken. This scenic view hotel offers both convenience and ambiance, making it a great choice for a trip to Lingbi or a short getaway.

· ----- Day 1: Touching the roots of the Grand Canal and exploring ancient Sixian gardens ⏰ Itinerary: Grand Canal Sixian Section Ruins > Canal Folk Scenic Area > Qingshuiwan Park 🍜 Brunch: Start the morning with a bowl of Sixian spicy soup for 8 yuan downstairs at the hotel, paired with a freshly baked horseshoe-shaped sesame flatbread for 2 yuan—crispy, fragrant, and filling. For lunch, head to a local farmhouse restaurant near the ruins for a 12-yuan bowl of banmian (hand-pulled noodles) with a braised egg and dried tofu sheets; it will leave you feeling warm and satisfied. ✨ Highlights: Spend the morning walking through the Grand Canal Sixian Section Ruins. This is one of the best-preserved sections of the Sui and Tang Grand Canal. Walking along the levee, you can see the outline of the ancient canal. Reeds sway in the wind along the banks, and you might even find old pottery shards with patterns. Standing by the river, imagining the canal boats coming and going a thousand years ago, you can really feel the weight of history. In the afternoon, explore the Canal Folk Scenic Area. The entire park is built around a lake, featuring Hui-style bridges and flowing water, root carvings, and walls of ancient stone plaques. You don't need to go to the Jiangnan region to see elegant garden scenery. Stroll slowly for over 2 hours to discover many stone carving details hidden in the corners—the cultural atmosphere is incredible. In the evening, head to Qingshuiwan Park. Pavilions and waterside structures based on Sui and Tang architecture are built along the water. Take a walk along the banks of the Shiliang River, where the evening breeze carries the moisture of the water. The Qingshuiwan archway, inscribed by Han Meilin, looks particularly charming under the lights. When you're tired of walking, sit down and watch the water curtain performance—it's a great way to de-stress. 🥘 Dinner: Return to the city center for a 20-yuan bowl of Sixian mutton soup. The hot soup, sprinkled with plenty of pepper and served with crispy sanzi (fried dough twists), warms you right to the stomach. Daily cost: Transportation 17 yuan + food 42 yuan + accommodation 100 yuan = 159 yuan. Day 2: Diving into pristine wetlands and encountering Northern Anhui's wild charm ⏰ Itinerary: Shilong Lake National Wetland Park 🍜 Breakfast: Buy a crispy sesame flatbread for 6 yuan and pair it with 5 yuan of savory tofu pudding. Dip the flatbread into the tofu pudding for a perfect combination of soft, crispy, and fragrant textures. ✨ Highlights: No need to rush between multiple attractions today; just take your time soaking in the Shilong Lake National Wetland Park. Walk deep along the wooden boardwalks by the lake, where vast stretches of reeds and calamus reach to the horizon. Water birds fly low over the lake surface, and if you're lucky, you might see egrets perched on the shallows catching fish. In autumn, the entire lake surface is dyed a creamy white by the reed catkins, and when the wind blows, it looks like layers of snow waves. Every photo you take here is a healing masterpiece. If you don't want to walk, rent a tandem sightseeing bike for 25 yuan per hour to leisurely explore every corner of the wetland. For lunch, have a 35-yuan local "pot chicken" (diguo ji) at a farmhouse restaurant near the wetland park. The flatbreads pressed against the side of the pot soak up the rich broth. Pair it with 10 yuan of cold-dressed wetland lotus root sprouts—crispy, tender, and sweet, a fresh taste you can't find in the city. In the afternoon, find a lakeside pavilion to sit in, bring some snacks, and watch the clouds drift over the lake. This sense of relaxation, without having to rush, is something big-city attractions simply cannot offer. 🥘 Dinner: Return to the city center for 22 yuan of beef potstickers. The freshly pan-fried potstickers are crispy on the bottom and burst with juice when you bite into them. A bowl of free egg soup is the perfect way to finish the meal. Daily cost: Transportation 20 yuan + food 98 yuan + accommodation 100 yuan = 218 yuan. · ----- Day 3: Mountain climbing for views and filling up on Sixian's local flavor before heading home ⏰ Itinerary: Panlong Mountain Cultural Park > Shopping in Sixian Old Town > Departure 🍜 Breakfast: Go to a time-honored stall on the old street for a 6-yuan bowl of egg-drop sa soup, paired with a 3-yuan sugar cake. The freshly fried sugar cake is crispy on the outside and sweet on the inside, with a molten center. ✨ Highlights: Spend the morning climbing Panlong Mountain Cultural Park, the highest point in Sixian. Slowly hike up the mountain trails, where you can see many stone carvings depicting the history of Sizhou along the way. From the observation deck at the summit, you can see the entire cityscape of Sixian and the farmland in the distance. Standing there for a while in the mountain breeze, all the fatigue of the journey fades away. After descending, take a slow stroll through the old town of Sixian. At roadside shops, you can buy a large bag of freshly fried sanzi for 10 yuan, or handmade sweet potato dried strips for 15 yuan per jin—sweet, chewy, and delicious. There are also small cultural and creative ornaments printed with Sizhou opera patterns. Pick up a few as gifts for family and friends; they are small souvenirs filled with the warmth of Sixian. Head back to the hotel around 10:00 AM to pack up. A 20-minute taxi ride will get you to the high-speed railway station, just in time for the return train at noon. Daily cost: Transportation 15 yuan + food 9 yuan + souvenirs 67 yuan + accommodation 100 yuan + round-trip high-speed rail 800 yuan = 991 yuan. · ----- Travel tips 2. Some areas of the Grand Canal Sixian Section Ruins are currently under maintenance. Check the scenic area announcement before visiting to avoid a wasted trip. 3. There are many mosquitoes in Shilong Lake Wetland Park. Remember to bring mosquito repellent, try to wear long sleeves and pants, and avoid getting bitten. 4. Some trails on Panlong Mountain are quite steep. Wear comfortable sports shoes and avoid wearing high heels for the climb. 5. Sixian's horseshoe-shaped sesame flatbreads are best when freshly baked. They lose their crispness when cold, so it is recommended to buy and eat them immediately. Sixian may not have trendy, crowded photo spots, but it hides the most authentic canal culture and the ecological scenery of Northern Anhui. Slow down for 3 days, and you will be able to feel the historical pulse of ancient Sizhou and catch the most vivid natural breath of the wetlands.

Without the disturbance of too many tourists, you can quietly step into the lives of locals, see historic architecture, taste local specialties, and feel the warmth of this small city in northern Anhui✨. 💰Actual expenses | 3 days, 2 nights, relaxed version 🏨Accommodation: Economy: Chain hotels and business hotels in the city center are about CNY 120–220/night. Suitable for those who enjoy rural scenery and slow-paced travel. ⚠️Travel tips (avoiding pitfalls) | Personal experience ❌ Itinerary too packed Suzhou is meant for slow exploration, not for cramming too many places into one day. ❌ Only visiting popular attractions The charm of small-city travel comes more from the streets and local life. ❌ Ignoring weather changes There's a significant temperature difference between morning and evening in October; bring a jacket if visiting mountain areas. ❌ Booking accommodation last minute There are many accommodation options in the city, but it's recommended to book in advance during peak times. ❌ Only taking photos, not trying the food Many of Suzhou's memorable moments come from street snacks. 🗺️Perfect 3-day itinerary | Slow travel version 🌿Day 1: Arrive in Suzhou > Suzhou Museum > Sanjiaozhou Ecological Park Arrive in Suzhou in the morning and check into your hotel. Near attractions: Suitable for tourists who want to explore early or late. Near the high-speed rail station: Suitable for short stays. 🌅Avoid crowds: The air is best in the forest scenic area in the morning. The light in the park is better for photos in the evening. 🏡Accommodation suggestions 🌱Economy: City hotels, good value for money. 🌿Comfort: Boutique hotels in the city center, convenient for travel. ✨High-end: Boutique hotels, suitable for leisure vacations. 📸Recommended photo spots 📍Huangcangyu Forest: Autumn leaves, mountain roads, and forest paths are perfect for autumn photos. 📍Sanjiaozhou Ecological Park: The combination of lake reflections and sunset creates a great atmosphere. 📍Suzhou Old Town: Streets, alleys, and cultural architecture are suitable for lifestyle photos. 📍Lingbi Strange Stone Park: The unique landscape is very recognizable. 📍Hidden spots: Country roads, field paths, and the entrance to local breakfast shops are easier for capturing the authentic vibe of Suzhou life than popular attractions. 🌈October trivia | Who is this for? Is it worth visiting? 💚Suitable for: People who love autumn, forests, history, culture, and slow-paced small-city travel. 👣My honest thoughts: The biggest charm of Suzhou isn't how dense the attractions are, but that it retains a sense of relaxation unique to a small city. If you like bustling cities and dense sightseeing, you might find Suzhou's pace a bit slow; but if you want to find a place to see autumn scenery, eat local specialties, and slow down, Suzhou is really worth visiting. Next time I come, I want to choose a more leisurely time, spend a day walking in Huangcangyu, have breakfast on the street, and slowly feel the autumn of this small city in northern Anhui🍂✨.

If you know, you know! Hidden in Lingbi, Suzhou, is the final resting place of Consort Yu. Step inside and immerse yourself in the timeless, poignant Chu-Han tale of the Farewell My Concubine. ⚔️ 📍Lingbi, Suzhou | Yuji Cultural Park (Yuji Tomb) 🎫Tickets available on-site Upon entering the park, the Han-style gate is solemn and rustic, instantly pulling you back to the era of the Chu-Han Contention. The park is lush and quiet, with ancient trees and gnarled branches, and red ribbons hanging from the branches, hiding the myriad emotions of visitors. The Hebi Pavilion stele stands quietly, and stone mythical beasts guard this pure land. Walking inside is the tomb of Consort Yu, covered with green grass, with a stele inscribed as a provincial cultural heritage site. The white marble statue of Consort Yu is gentle and quiet, standing while playing the zither, freezing the tenderness and determination of a thousand years ago. The large-scale Han-style architectural complex is magnificent, with high-platform squares, palaces and pavilions, and stone arch bridges spanning the clear water. The bronze statue of Xiang Yu on horseback is majestic, wearing armor, fully displaying the heroic spirit of the Overlord of Western Chu. The sculpture of the Overlord and Consort Yu riding together recreates the scene of the two accompanying each other in battle. The park also displays a huge Bawang cauldron, with rustic and imposing bronze patterns. On the city wall stand sculptures of Qin and Han soldiers in armor, and indoor wax figures recreate the image of Xiang Yu. Strolling through the park, surrounded by ancient cypresses and free from noisy crowds, you can quietly read the stele inscriptions. The lament of Gaixia seems to echo in your ears, allowing you to feel the tragic story that spans a thousand years. 🍃

Ancient charm hidden in the landscape, where stone meets a thousand years of history🌿. Tucked away in northern Anhui, the treasure of a small city, Lingbi, is famous for three things: exotic stones, Lady Yu, and Zhong Kui paintings. Come for a slow-paced trip to understand the legends of Chu and Han and the unique local culture. 📅 Itinerary Day 1 | First impressions of Lingbi: exotic stones and museums🪨 Arrive in Lingbi in the morning and head to the China Lingbi Exotic Stone Culture Park. Stroll through the Hui-style gardens and admire the diverse Lingbi stones. The Lingbi County Museum is also located inside, offering an immersive look at local history and culture. The pavilions and lakes reflect each other, making it a great spot for a walk and photos. For lunch, find a bite in the city center and try local northern Anhui specialties like mutton soup, oil pancakes, and black tofu—all worth a taste. In the afternoon, visit the Zhong Kui Culture Park. The towering Zhong Kui Pagoda is very photogenic. Experience the folk culture of Zhong Kui and learn about the historical significance of Lingbi Zhong Kui paintings. The park is filled with scattered ancient buildings, creating a wonderful atmosphere. In the afternoon, head to the Lingbi Modern Agricultural Expo Park to enjoy the pastoral scenery, perfect for relaxing and unwinding. 💡 Travel tips 🌞 Remember to check the opening hours of each scenic spot before you go; some exhibition halls are closed on Mondays, so plan your itinerary accordingly. 🚗 The distance between attractions in Lingbi is not very short, so a self-driving tour offers the best experience. If using public transport, allow plenty of time for commuting. 🍜 Local food is mainly northern Anhui style; mutton soup, rolled noodles, and black tofu are must-try specialties. 🪨 At the Exotic Stone Culture Park and Qingyun Mountain, pay attention to the stone exhibits to learn more. 📸 The pagoda at Zhong Kui Culture Park and the ancient buildings at Lady Yu Culture Park are great for photos. Wearing simple, elegant outfits is recommended for better results. 🧳 Please protect cultural relics and historical sites within the scenic areas. Do not carve on stones, and be a respectful visitor. 💧 If traveling in summer, remember to protect yourself from the sun and stay hydrated. There are many mosquitoes in the mountainous areas, so bring mosquito repellent.

Suzhou in July is truly underrated 🌧️ Don't mind the weather forecast constantly hitting 34℃; as long as you avoid the midday sun, the forests, museums, and riverside areas are all cool and refreshing. This time, two of us spent three days and two nights, averaging less than CNY 800 per person (excluding airfare and train tickets). We ate well and slept comfortably. My colleagues asked if I had discovered a hidden gem of a city ✨ 🏨 Accommodation (no-fail options) For first-time visitors, directly target the area around Yongqiao District's Bianhe Road—Wanda Plaza—Wuyue Plaza. On Trip.com, hotels like All Seasons, Vienna, and Rezen all have scores above 4.8. Newly opened smart-controlled rooms, including breakfast for two, can be booked for just over CNY 200. Within a 10-minute walk, you'll find museums, Suning Plaza, and snack streets 🛏️ If you want great photos, check out Yin Su Resort Hotel, located right in the Xinbianhe Scenic Area, with water views from the window. If you plan to visit Huangzangyu on the second day, stay at Greentown Junlan Hotel in Xiaoxian the night before, for about CNY 350 per night. You can even rent mountain bikes there, saving an hour of travel time to the mountain the next day 🚗 Guesthouses around Huangzangyu tend to be more like farm stays, with inconsistent hygiene and soundproofing, so avoid them if you mind. 💰 Budget-friendly guide Suzhou's attraction tickets are incredibly reasonable 💸 Suzhou Museum is free (closed Mondays), Triangle Park is free, and Xinbianhe Scenic Area is free. The main expense is Huangzangyu, with an adult ticket at CNY 25 and Tianmen Temple at CNY 14; Lingbi Qishi Cultural Park is CNY 60, and Yu Ji Cultural Park is CNY 30–40. If you visit during the July Fuyang Festival, the main Huangzangyu scenic area is half price, middle and high school students get free admission, and full-time university students get 50% off. Remember to bring your ID 🎫 Food is even cheaper. A vacuum-packed Fuli Chicken starts from CNY 25. Sa soup with flatbread costs about CNY 15 per person for a filling meal. Huangzangyu mushroom chicken is about CNY 50 per person, enough to stuff yourself 🍗 For two people, three days of tickets + food + accommodation combined can cost CNY 600–800 per person for a very enjoyable trip. 🌿 My relaxed itinerary (no rush version) Day 1: Don't rush to attractions on arrival day. Head straight to Suzhou Museum in the afternoon to enjoy the air conditioning and view Chu-Han cultural relics. The architectural lines inside the museum are great for photos 🏛️ Afterward, walk to Triangle Park to see the "Big Water Drop" landmark. In the evening, stroll along the riverbank in the Xinbianhe Scenic Area as the lights come on, creating a wonderful atmosphere 🌉 For dinner, head to Yunjie Commercial Street for sa soup + Fuli Chicken + Xiaoxian cold noodles. About CNY 30 per person will leave you stuffed. Day 2: Huangzangyu is the highlight 🌳 Arrive before 8 AM. The mountain is several degrees cooler than the city, living up to its reputation as a natural oxygen bar. For a relaxed visit, enter through the North Gate → Ruiyun Temple → Huangzang Cave → Bajian Spring. If you want to save your legs, take the sightseeing shuttle for CNY 5 one way. You can easily complete the route in about three hours. At noon, order a pot of Huangzangyu mushroom chicken at a farm restaurant at the foot of the mountain. The slow-cooked broth over a wood fire, dipped with potsticker bread, is so fresh it makes your tongue tingle 🍲 In the afternoon, return to the city for a nap. In the evening, you can visit the 1956 Cultural and Creative Park for tea. It's a converted old machinery factory, featured in CCTV's "Three Meals, Four Seasons." Day 3: Dedicated to the Lingbi route 🪨 In the morning, visit Qishi Cultural Park to see the "No. 1 Stone in the World." The Huizhou-style garden with a lakeside pavilion is perfect for photos in light-colored dresses. For lunch, try the Qingshi black pork at a local farm restaurant. In the afternoon, take a walk around Yu Ji Cultural Park, the birthplace of the "Farewell My Concubine" story. The Chinese-style corridors and sculptures are ideal for photos in new Chinese-style outfits 👗 Before heading back, buy two roasted chickens from a time-honored brand near Fuli Train Station, such as Liu Lao Er or Huixiangyuan. They are vacuum-packed and easy to take on the high-speed train. ☀️ July-exclusive tips Don't forget sunscreen + parasol + sports shoes. Suzhou's UV index in July is not low 🧴 Some sections of the Huangzangyu mountain path are steep, so wear non-slip shoes. Compare prices before buying local specialties in scenic areas; some tourist spots have higher prices. Don't panic if it rains; Suzhou's showers mostly occur in the afternoon, which is a good time to visit a museum or find a sa soup shop to relax. If you want to avoid crowds, try to visit Lingbi and Huangzangyu on weekdays, as there are many locals on weekends 🚶‍♀️ 🍜 More about food For Fuli Chicken, look for local time-honored brands like Liu Lao Er and Huixiangyuan. The meat is tender, falls off the bone, and is so fragrant you'll want to lick your fingers 🍗 Xiaoxian cold noodles are thin, soft, and chewy, with chili oil and cucumber shreds for a spicy and appetizing taste. Sa soup is an intangible cultural heritage named by Emperor Qianlong. It's a rich broth made from old hen and pork bones, mixed with egg. A bowl for breakfast warms you to the stomach. Langan beef, Lingbi mahu, Dangshan crisp pear juice, and Sixian golden silk gourd are all delicious and won't disappoint. The summer coincides with the Xiaoxian Fuyang Festival, from mid-July to early August. Enjoy a whole lamb feast! Dingli lamb soup is milky white and odorless, perfectly paired with flatbread 🫓 The joy of traveling to a small city is not having to rush. See the sights in the morning, nap at noon, take photos in the evening, and explore food and shopping at night. Slowly capture the ancient charm of Chu-Han culture and the vibrant life of northern Anhui in your camera 📸 Next time, I want to try the pear orchards and the old Yellow River course in the Dangshan direction. I hear the crisp pear harvest season in autumn is even more therapeutic.

Friends ask where to go in Suzhou. I just send them this article. These three places are enough for a 2-day trip. 🏯 Yu Ji Cultural Park the soul of Lingbi, Suzhou This park is much bigger than I expected. At the entrance stands a white marble statue of Yu Ji, her flowing robes truly stunning. Inside, you’ll find bas-relief walls depicting the story of the Farewell My Concubine. Each panel tells a story, creating a deeply immersive atmosphere. The most impressive sight is Yu Ji’s tomb. Over 2,000 years of earth rest quietly there, surrounded by pines and cypresses. Standing before the tomb brings a strange heaviness to the heart. The park also has a poetry corridor with verses from poets throughout history carved along the entire walkway. I could spend an entire afternoon reading them slowly. Don’t miss the exhibition hall on the west side. It recreates scenes from the Qin and Han dynasties. The detailed introduction to Yu Ji’s life offers a fresh understanding of that period. Search for Yu Ji Cultural Park in navigation. It’s 7 km east of Lingbi county town. 🎫 Ticket 30 yuan. Half price for students. 🕐 Recommended visit time: 2 hours. Afternoon light is best for photos. 🍜 Afterward, find a small local restaurant in Lingbi county town. You must try Lingbi mahutang soup, especially with a baked flatbread. 🍐 Dangshan pear king scenic area one tree that amazes all spring Honestly, I didn’t expect much from a single pear tree before going. But I was stunned. This pear king is over 300 years old. Its canopy covers nearly half an acre. The branches twist and turn, and when it blooms, the white flowers look like a snowfall. The scenic area isn’t just this tree. The entire pear orchard covers over 10,000 acres. During the spring pear blossom festival, it’s packed with people. But I recommend visiting in autumn when the trees are full of golden Su pears ready for picking. Dangshan Su pears live up to their reputation. One bite and the juice flows, sweet to the core. There’s a viewing platform in the park. Climb up to overlook the whole orchard. The view is wide open and perfect for photos. Take your elders—they’ll love it. Located southwest of Dangshan county town. Navigation will take you straight there. 🎫 Peak season 40 yuan. Off-season 30 yuan. 🕐 Best seasons: early April for blossoms, September–October for pear picking. 🍜 Don’t miss Dangshan barrel chicken. Crispy skin, tender meat. Also, pear syrup candy makes a great gift. ⛩️ Tianmen Temple a thousand-year-old temple hidden in Xiaoxian mountains Few know about this place, but it’s worth the trip. The temple is built halfway up the mountain, requiring a climb up stone steps. Ancient trees tower along the way, birdsong fills the quiet mountains. Even before entering, you feel calm. Tianmen Temple was founded in the Tang dynasty. Most existing buildings were rebuilt during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The main hall is grand and imposing. The Buddha statues inside are solemn and dignified. The incense isn’t heavy, which creates a rare peacefulness. In the back garden stands a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree. In autumn, its golden leaves cover the courtyard, breathtakingly beautiful. From the temple’s front platform, looking down the mountain, endless peaks and swirling clouds make you instantly understand why it’s called Tianmen—like a gate to the heavens. Located in Baitu town, Xiaoxian. Driving is recommended. The mountain road is winding, so drive slowly. 🎫 Free admission Which of these places excites you the most? Grab your friends and head out soon~✨

On the land of Qilu, there once were a group of ancient Dongyi states. These small states and tribal civilizations lasted through the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties, were conquered by Qi and Lu, and then faded into the dust of history. Seeing this historical exhibition at Shandong Museum reveals that the coastal area of Shandong also experienced a process of civilization and cultural integration. Almost every town has its own distant historical traces. ✅ About the ancient Dongyi states Shandong is the birthplace of Dongyi culture. Historically, many ancient Dongyi states existed here. Most of these states were founded by Dongyi tribes (such as descendants of Shaohao and Chiyou). They were active throughout Shandong during the Xia, Shang, and Zhou periods, later mostly annexed by the states of Qi and Lu, and eventually integrated into Huaxia civilization. 📌 State of Ni (Xiao Zhu state) Historical background: Originally the Dongyi "Er state" during the Xia and Shang periods. During the reign of King Xuan of the Western Zhou (798 BC), Zhu Yi’s second son Youfu (Zhu Fei) was enfeoffed in the former territory of the Er state, establishing the Ni state (often mistakenly called "Xiao Zhu state" or "Xiao Zhu Lou" because of its origin from Zhu state). It lasted about 537 years, spanning 15 generations, and was destroyed by the state of Chu in 261 BC. Location: Mainly in present-day Tengzhou, Shandong (early capital near Liangshui east of Tengcheng) and Shanting (mid to late capital at "Dongji"). 📌 State of Ju Historical background: Descended from the Dongyi Shaohao tribe, officially enfeoffed by the Zhou royal family in the early Western Zhou period (1046 BC) with Ziyuqi as ruler of Ju. The initial capital was Ji (now Jiaozhou), later moved to Ju (now Ju County). During the Spring and Autumn period, Ju was a strong eastern state, rivaling Qi and Lu, before being annexed by Qi in 412 BC. Location: Mainly in present-day Ju County, Jiaozhou, and southeastern Shandong. 📌 State of Lai (Donglai) Historical background: Founded by the Dongyi Lai tribe, its center before the Zhou dynasty was around present-day Changle and Linqu in Weifang, extending east to the coastal area of Huang County. Early Zhou period saw Lai competing with the newly enfeoffed Qi state (led by Jiang Taigong) for Yingqiu. Lai was defeated by Qi during the Spring and Autumn period, and the Duke of Lai was forced to move the capital to Huang County (Donglai). Lai was fully annexed by Qi in 567 BC. Location: Mainly in the northern Shandong Peninsula (Weifang, Yantai area). 📌 State of Xu (Xufang/Huaiyi) Historical background: A branch of the Dongyi Huaiyi tribe, existing since the Xia and Shang periods. Enfeoffed in the early Western Zhou, initially with the capital at Tancheng (now Tancheng, Shandong), later moved to Xuzhou and Sixian. Xu was strong during the Spring and Autumn period under King Xu Yan but was eventually destroyed by Chu. Location: Mainly in southern Shandong (Tancheng) and northern Jiangsu and Anhui. 📌 State of Yun Historical background: An ancient Dongyi tribal state from early Zhou times. Its capital was attacked and captured by Lu forces in 542 BC. Location: Mainly around Nanfang Town, Lanshan District, Linyi, Shandong. 📌 Other ancient Dongyi states Zhu state: An ancient Dongyi state, initially with its capital at Qufu, later moved to Zoucheng. It was a vassal of Lu and later divided into Ni, Lan, and other states. Lan state: One of the three states divided from Zhu, with its capital at Yangzhuang Tucheng, Tengzhou. Ji, Pi, Tan, Qi, and others: All ancient Dongyi states that once existed in Shandong, later successively annexed by the major states of Qi, Lu, and Chu. ✅ Check in to the museum’s Dongyi culture 📌 East of Huaxia — Dongyi culture exhibition from the Xia, Shang, and Zhou periods Location: 3rd floor, Exhibition Hall 15-1 Highlights: Over 110 artifacts including pottery, bronze, and bone and horn tools systematically trace the Dongyi culture’s journey from coexistence with Huaxia to integration into Huaxia civilization. Key exhibits: Include ritual vessels from the Yueshi culture shaped like zun, boats, and mushroom-shaped lids, as well as pottery from the Pearl Gate culture of the Shang and Zhou periods, showcasing the fusion of Dongyi and Central Plains cultures. 📌 Ju culture special exhibition Location: 1st floor, Exhibition Hall 3 Highlights: Focuses on the ancient Dongyi state of Ju, displaying over 240 artifacts such as inscribed pottery zun and bronze ritual vessels, illustrating Ju’s interaction with Qi and Lu cultures and the spirit behind "Never forget Ju." 📌 Dialogue with the eggshell black pottery high-stem cup Location: 3rd floor, Exhibition Hall 15-2 Highlights: Centered on the eggshell black pottery high-stem cup, compared with Majiayao painted pottery, demonstrating the peak of Dongyi pottery craftsmanship and revealing the unique aesthetics and technical achievements of Dongyi culture. ✅ Check-in tips 📌 Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, last entry at 4:00 PM. A Matrix of Strange Stones: Natural Sculptures of Leanness, Wrinkle, Permeability, and Transparency Lingbi stones rank first among China's four major ornamental stones, and the nearly one thousand strange stones in the park are the best proof. Highlights include the "Nine Dragons Wall" chime stone and the "Smiling Face" patterned stone. Having weathered for millions of years, they exhibit a unique beauty characterized by "leanness, wrinkles, permeability, transparency, and ugliness." Standing before these natural sculptures, you will marvel at the wonders of nature. 2. Bianyang Tower and the Circular Lake: A Superb Perspective for Panoramic Views At the heart of the park lies a hundred-acre circular lake, beside which stands the Bianyang Tower (also the Lingbi Museum), hailed as the "Number One Tower North of the Yangtze River." From the tower, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Qishi Garden's Hui-style architecture and stone formations. The white walls and black tiles reflected in the water create stunning, ink-wash painting-like images. 3. Sound Like Bronze: A Unique Auditory Experience Lingbi stones, also known as "Eight-Tone Stones," are unique for their "bronze-like sound and jade-like color." In the "Sound of Stones" themed area, don't forget to find a chime stone marked "can be struck." Gently tap it with your knuckles and listen to the clear, melodious, metallic echo—a sensory experience unmatched by other ornamental stones. 4. Zhang's Garden Pavilion: A Recreation of a Famous Garden Described by Su Shi The Zhang's Garden Pavilion from the Song Dynasty has been reconstructed in the southwest corner of the park. Su Shi once wrote "A Record of the Zhang Family Garden in Lingbi" for this garden. Strolling through it, the pavilions, waterside terraces, and uniquely shaped rocks create a picturesque scene, as if transported back to a gathering of Song Dynasty literati. It's a perfect backdrop for taking Hanfu (traditional Han clothing) or modern Chinese-style portrait photos. 🎭 Unique Experiences and Related Activities · Make a Rubbing: At the Qingshi Crafts Exhibition Hall or Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Area, spend 20-30 yuan to experience making Lingbi stone rubbings. Take home a painting made from the natural texture of the unique stone, adding cultural significance compared to ordinary souvenirs. · Collect the "Three Wonders of Lingbi": Lingbi is famous for its "unique stones, Yu Ji (a legendary concubine), and Zhong Kui (a legendary figure in Chinese mythology)." If time permits, you can combine these activities: visit the unique stone garden in the morning, go to the Yu Ji Cultural Park (about a 15-minute drive away) in the afternoon to experience the tragic love story of Chu and Han, and see Zhong Kui paintings or sample local cuisine in the evening. · Nighttime Light Show: During summer or holidays, the park often hosts light shows or water screen movies. The strange rocks under the lights appear even more mysterious at night. Opening hours are often extended to 9:30 PM. 📝 Useful Information Card Tickets: Approximately 30 RMB/person (discounts available for students and seniors, subject to availability on the day of your visit) Opening Hours: Peak season (May-October): Approximately 6:00-5:30 PM; Off-season: Approximately 8:00-5:00 PM (Nighttime hours subject to announcement) Suggested Duration: 2-3 hours for a comprehensive visit (including climbing the tower, taking photos, and experiencing the attractions) Food Recommendations: Nearby, try Lingbi sesame seed cakes with pork tenderloin or cold noodles, or head to the county town for authentic Lingbi mushroom chicken. 💡 Travel Reflections From Suzhou to Lingbi is not just a short geographical trip, but a pilgrimage to the "art of time." Lingbi Strange Stone Culture Park is free from the hustle and bustle of excessive commercialization, offering only the geological stories accumulated over millions of years amidst its blue bricks and gray tiles. When you gently tap the chime stones, you hear the clear sound that transcends time; when you stroll through Zhang's Garden Pavilion, you feel the elegance described by Su Shi, and you will understand—some beauty is sculpted by time, and it also requires quiet listening. This is a vivid lesson in natural aesthetics, and also a chance for spiritual reflection.

The tomb mound is about 6 meters high, surrounded by cypress trees, creating a solemn and respectful atmosphere. In front of the tomb stand steles from the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, with the most striking being the famous couplet: "Alas, Yu, since ancient times, beauties have often met with ill fate; Where is Ji? Only a green mound remains, facing the twilight." Standing before the tomb, one can almost travel through time and hear the 'Song of Chu' from all sides during the Battle of Gaixia. 2. White Marble Statue and Stele Corridor: A Fusion of Art and History The 3.4-meter-high white marble statue of Yu Ji at the entrance, with her flowing robes and resolute gaze, perfectly embodies the spirit of a "heroine no less capable than a man." The Song Yu Ji Stele Corridor next to it is a paradise for calligraphy lovers, featuring masterpieces by renowned calligraphers such as Feng Xu from the Qing Dynasty and modern masters like Qi Gong and Shu Tong. Each stele is a footnote to history. 3. Chu-Han Culture Exhibition Area: An Immersive History Classroom Through the recreation of the "Song of Chu from all sides" scene and the display of artifacts unearthed from the Gaixia battlefield, this area vividly reconstructs the grand history of the Chu-Han contention. For families traveling with children, this is an excellent study base to gain an intuitive understanding of Xiang Yu's hegemony and Yu Ji's loyalty. 4. Tanghe River Landscape and Poppy Flower Sea Beyond its rich history, the park's natural scenery is equally captivating. The Tanghe River water landscape bridge is an excellent spot for photos, especially in late spring and early summer when large fields of poppies (legend says they bloomed from Yu Ji's blood) burst into bloom, fiery red, complementing the ancient architecture. 🎭 Special Experiences and Nearby Attractions · Watch a Sizu Opera: If you're lucky, you might catch a performance of the intangible cultural heritage Sizu Opera "Farewell My Concubine" in the park.
