Masai Mara | The Best Value Hotel Inside the National Park
🤍Due to work, I've been to Masai Mara many times and stayed in many different hotels. The hotel our team stayed at this Chinese New Year truly surprised me. We stayed at Jirok Lodge, part of MGM. This hotel is basically in the core area of Masai Mara National Park. You can see hippos, elephants, and giraffes leisurely strolling in the National Park without even leaving the hotel. The hotel also has a dedicated bar for viewing hippos and a platform for observing animals, offering an excellent experience.
🤍Every day, there are many Maasai women selling their handicrafts at the hotel, and you can bargain. My guest bought a medium-sized giraffe wood carving for 7 USD, which was quite a good deal. On clear nights, you can look up from your room and see a sky full of romantic stars, accompanied by the sounds of hippos – a truly magical feeling. The hotel's dining is also good, with many dishes suitable for Chinese tastes. The omelet chef even speaks excellent Chinese. The experience was absolutely fantastic.
🤍Usually, hotels in Masai Mara have restrictions on hot water for showering and electricity usage times. However, during the Chinese New Year, this hotel had no time limit for hot water showers. Electricity was only completely off from 1:30 AM to 3:00 AM, which actually didn't affect our electricity use at all. This was great.
▫️Note:
🦛: Hippos may come ashore at night to graze on the hotel lawn, so staff assistance is required to return to your room. Do not open your door and go out by yourself at night.
🐒: There are also many vervet monkeys and baboons in the hotel, which might be jumping around on your roof at night.
☕️: Afternoon tea is served at the hotel from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
🍹: The Hippo View Bar is open daily from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. You can go in and take photos even if you don't buy drinks. The small blackboard at the bar will list which animals have passed by that day.
Sometimes there are Maasai welcome ceremonies in the evening.
🤍In Masai Mara, I currently think the scenery and the stay experience here are the best.
