#September Good Places 2025 Sloane is a hidden gem of a secret in the Croatian outback, and you will be melted by the chill here! Its most classic is none other than the old, layered waterwheel village of Rastoke, nestled next to the Slana River, with wooden waterwheel houses and mills built close to the waterfall. The sound of running water and the green shade mix, walking through every path is full of fairy tales, it's really like time has stopped🫶. For a beautiful view of the whole town, be sure to head up to Stari grad Slunj! The fortress is high above, and below is the endless red-tiled houses and the winding river. It's sooo beautiful to take pictures~🤳 The most fascinating thing about Sloane is that it is so natural and real, no special embellishment but definitely surprising, a deep encounter that is relaxing from the inside out💚. Slunj - Croatia. On our drive inland from the coast, we stopped off in a picturesque little town of Slunj, beside the Slunjčica river. (It would be about another hour and a half drive to the capital, Zagreb that’s further north.) We’d passed into Slunj through the village of Rastoke where the Slunjčica river flows into the Korana river. Here, we stopped off on a wooden bridge to take some spectacular views of the rivers in the valley below rushing over rocks with mini waterfalls popping out of the banks, some below small stone houses We decided then to have a Pan beer and coffee at the Italian restaurant Kanoba Kum. Very nice atmosphere and plenty of seating outside. (The locals do prefer Kuna rather than Euros but you can pay in both.) After, we wandered the quiet streets over wooden walkways, stone steps, past old traditional wooden buildings and small ponds, with beautiful bushes of colourful flowers hanging off walls, baskets and window boxes. We went mid October, so the summer heat was gone but still pleasantly warm, and no crowds of tourists which was nice too!
