Great Potential but Falls Short of True 5-Star Experience
It saddens me not to give this hotel a full 5 stars because it has the potential to be amazing. Starting with the positives, the location is excellent—just a 15–20 minute drive from Palma. We rented a car, so I can’t comment on taxi costs, but there’s plenty of free parking available. The hotel is much nicer in person than in the outdated photos they have online. Our room was lovely, featuring comfortable bedding and good-quality towels. The bathroom was slightly dated, but it didn’t impact our stay.
The gym was another pleasant surprise, much better than the photos suggest. I even had a few personal training sessions with Miguel, who was knowledgeable and motivating—highly recommend booking a session with him. The food exceeded our expectations, except for the pasta dishes. Breakfast was enjoyable, offering a good variety of options. Even when we arrived late during breakfast hours, the food was fully stocked and refreshed—a rarity in many hotels. Special mention to the chef preparing eggs in the mornings; he was always cheerful and friendly, providing a lovely start to the day. The grounds, too, were immaculate and well-maintained.
Unfortunately, a few things prevented this from being a truly outstanding stay. First, the spa massage I received was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. While the reception team handled the matter professionally and provided compensation, it was a dreadful experience. Communication from the hotel could also have been better. During our stay, there was a wedding and bar renovations taking place. While these didn’t ruin our visit, a heads-up prior to arrival would have been appreciated for better expectation setting.
The pool service was the most disappointing part of our experience. While the pool itself is beautiful, with clean and comfortable sunbeds, ordering drinks was frustrating. Staff were hard to locate, and on multiple occasions, my orders were forgotten. There seemed to be only one person managing the entire pool area, which was insufficient. This was unfortunate because I would have gladly spent more on food and drinks with better service. A thoughtful touch, however, was the complimentary snacks like fresh fruit and appetizers brought around during the day.
Additionally, the pool boys were inconsistent—sometimes they brought towels and prepared sunbeds, other times they didn’t. In other high-end hotels, you’re greeted on arrival, your sunbed is prepared, and fresh towels are brought without needing to ask. Here, that level of service was hit or miss. The difference between the attentive breakfast service and the lackluster pool service was stark.
Despite these shortcomings, we had an enjoyable stay and fully intend to return. This hotel has all the makings of a true 5-star destination, and with improved communication, spa services, and poolside hospitality, it could undoubtedly achieve that level of excellence.
