Caught stone crabs in Houston with a beginner's fishing guide
It's a benefit period for newbies 😆 The meat from stone crab claws is sweet and fresh! Boiled is delicious, no wonder restaurants charge so much.
🎣 Fishing
I highly recommend beginners like me to go night fishing at Galveston Fishing Pier or Seawolf Park. Although there is a fee, it's easier to catch fish, less likely to get snagged, and there are lights for night fishing.
Popular free fishing spots like Texas City Dike and Surfside Jetty are more likely to have larger fish, but they are not very beginner-friendly.
🦐 I recommend everyone prepare frozen shrimp and live shrimp to reduce empty-handed trips 😬
If you catch small fish, you can also cut them into pieces to use as bait. This time’s 🦀 was also accidentally caught using fish pieces.
📷 Photography
The best spot for photos is Galveston Fishing Pier (photos 9-13). Nearby are Pleasure Pier amusement park (photo 13), graffiti walls near Fort Crockett Park (lower photo 12), colorful lifeguard towers (upper photo 12), and the jetty on the beach (photo 11).
Seawolf Park (photos 15-16) and Texas City Dike (photo 17) offer a different vibe.
☀️ The seaside sunset is very easy to capture relaxed and full-of-life photos 🤣
🚣 Recently, I want to try kayak fishing at Christmas Bay and Galveston Bay since I already love boating 🤣. They rent fishing kayaks there. I’ll try it out and share my experience with everyone later~
Still learning as a newbie, if any pros have hidden fishing spots or tips, feel free to share~
Wonderful Stay at Birds of Paradise
We stayed in a Birds of Paradise upgraded room that featured beautiful wood floors, a steam room, and a small private pool—absolutely delightful. The hotel retains a charming colonial feel, surrounded by a well-maintained private garden and pool. All the hotel staff were extremely accommodating. Additionally, there's an annex offering optional massage services, and the staff there are truly top-notch.
