Jeongbangsa Temple with a clear view of Cheongpung Lake.
Jeongbangsa Temple.
Address: 165, Oksunbong-ro 12-gil, Susan-myeon, Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do.
Inquiries: 043 647 7399.
Founded by the monk Uisang during the Silla Dynasty in the year 662 under King Munmu.
There is a wooden statue of Avalokitesvara and behind it, a painting of Buddha is drawn.
Designated as Local Tangible Cultural Property No. 206.
The road to the temple is narrow, prohibiting entry of large vehicles. Access by car is not easy. The view of Cheongpung Lake and the mountains from the temple is magnificent. Although it is a point for sunset viewing, staying late can be a nuisance to the temple and driving can be dangerous after dark, so it is recommended to come down early. Nearby, there is the Oksunbong Suspension Bridge and Cheongpung Land, so planning a day trip might be a good idea.
