The rooms at Holiday Inn Johor Bahru are comfortable and well-maintained. The bed was cozy, and the room was spacious, providing a relaxing atmosphere after a day of exploring the city. The modern decor and cleanliness were commendable, although some minor signs of wear and tear were noticed, which is inevitable. However, the overall accommodation quality was above par.

The hotel boasts a range of amenities that cater to both business and leisure travelers. The fitness center is well-equipped with an awesome view, and the pool area provides a refreshing escape. Additionally, you can order Starbucks without leaving your hotel (For IHG members, you have 20% off).
Location: ★★★★★
Other rain for shine, you are all sheltered. It’s linked from CIQ bridge to the mall lift, and once in the lift, it will bring you up to the hotel lobby. So convenient. What’s more, it’s situated in the heart of Johor Bahru, within proximity to popular attractions, shopping malls, and transportation hubs, ideal for both business and leisure travelers.

The standout feature of my stay was the impeccable service provided by the hotel staff, especially Angelyn.
Breakfast: ★★★☆☆
The breakfast spread offered a variety of options, catering to different tastes.
Conclusion:

So is this hotel worth the 5* rating?

Being a boutique hotel and close to CBD area, the Shophouse room is pretty small. However, it’s elegantly decorated, with a black and white theme. The bed is comfortable and I loved the firmness of the pillows.
Amenities: ★☆☆☆☆
If you are looking for a luxurious amenities, like pool and gym or a rooftop bar, this will not be a hotel you are looking at. So this rating is actually not applicable.
Location: ★★★★★
Situated in the heart of Singapore's historic Tanjong Pagar district, Duxton Reserve boasts an unbeatable location. The hotel is within walking distance of popular attractions, trendy cafes, and cultural sites. The proximity to public transportation makes it easy to explore the city. Whether you're a business traveler or a tourist, the central location of Duxton Reserve adds immense value to your stay.
Service: ★★★★☆
Been a 5* hotel, the service cannot go any wrong. Most staff will go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. From the warm welcome at check-in to a small gesture of a piece of birthday cake, they tried to have every aspect of the service to reflect a commitment to the guest satisfaction.
Breakfast: ★★★☆☆
The breakfast at Duxton Reserve is a pleasant culinary experience. I love the presentation of the food, but to me the breakfast menu is just ok. From a 5* hotel’s standard, I actually would expect a bit more.
Conclusion:
With its central location, this will make it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. However for me, I would prefer others Marriott Bonvoy 5* hotels compared with this.

Breakfast: ★★★☆☆
The breakfast buffet offered a decent spread, with a local and international menu, and 1-2 LIVE cooking stations, ensuring a good start to the day.
