Quiberon: the secret beach of Britany
When you look at the map of Britany, you may not even notice the place, a leg of ground in the middle of the ocean, a sub island hidden from the noise of big cities of the country… it is Quiberon. a small quite village full of history.
Informations:
The seaside resort of Quiberon, located at the tip of the peninsula of Quiberon opposite Belle-Ile-sur-Mer, is one of the most popular resorts in the South of Morbihan and Brittany. It is close to the rugged coastline, which makes it a destination where one can alternate the pleasure of walking and sunbathing on the big beaches in Quiberon.
There are several beaches in Quiberon. The busiest and most beautiful is directly located in the city center next to the harbour (Port Maria). It is located south and offers a beautiful stretch of sand where one can swim both at high tide and at low tide. In summer, children will be delighted by the ballet of the boats reaching Belle-Ile-sur-Mer. There are other beaches east worth visiting. Further north, the beaches of Saint-Pierre-Quiberon are also interesting. The ocean beaches are huge and one can even do sand yachting.
The peninsula of Quiberon is very difficult to access in summer. It is not advisable to drive to the beaches of Quiberon for the day (especially on weekends). One should go on the Tire-Bouchon (little train running between Auray and Quiberon).
