Visiting the ancient past through the ruins
Visiting Jerash in Jordan is like stepping back in time to the days of the Roman Empire. This ancient city, often referred to as the "Pompeii of the East," boasts remarkably preserved ruins that offer a glimpse into its glorious past. As you wander through the sprawling archaeological site, you'll encounter imposing colonnaded streets, well-preserved theaters, grand temples, and intricate mosaics. The highlight is the Oval Plaza, a vast open space surrounded by towering columns, where chariot races and other events once took place. Jerash's rich history comes alive as you explore its intricate architecture and imagine life in ancient times. Don't miss the opportunity to witness the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. It's a journey through history that will leave you in awe of Jordan's cultural heritage.

2023: a year to remember! What’s netx? 🔜✈️
2023 was a beautiful year! I had the opportunity to visit many new places.
In January I went to Jordan. While I was there, I had the opportunity to visit Petra, one of the seven wonders of the modern world. January being a non-high season period, there were few people and it was beautiful. Petra is definitely a magical place to see at least once in a lifetime.
In April instead I had the opportunity to go to Beijing. Here too I saw another wonder of the modern world, The Great Wall of China. But the thing that left me most shocked was the Terracotta army which is located in the city of Xi'An.
I hope to have other opportunities to travel in 2024 as I had in 2023. The destinations I would like to visit this year are New Zealand and French Polynesia…so Oceania is my next goal 🔜✈️

A visit to Roman theatre is like travelling back to the past, the theatre has a history of over 2000 years! The theatre was built in the style of many Roman theatres meaning it is built upon three levels and each section was divided by class and rule. It is the most well preserved Roman theatre to visit. It is still used currently for theatre events. There is also a small museum where you can see exhibits and learn history about ancient Jordan.

Petra, A True World Wonder
Petra is located in Wadi Musa, Jordan and you’re able to access the archeological site of Petra from Wadi Musa, access to Wadi Musa is via Coach, Driving or Taxi from what I am aware. Entrances fees into Petra can vary depending on how many days you’re planning to visit however I recommend getting ‘The Jordan Pass’ which allows you access into Petra and in my case being from the UK covered Visa costs as well as access to other sites across the country of Jordan for example in Amman.
The entrance to Petra begins with the huge crevasse that is most known in Western Culture from the Indiana Jones movie, this portion of Petra lasts for 20 to 30 minutes and is magically with every bend being as unique as the previous alongside this the pure size of crevasse really has you in awe. Once you reach the end of the crevasse you’re met with The Treasury, Petra’s most famous landmark and most photographed, the huge building carved into the hillside is truly spectacular and makes you consider what is possible and achievable.
Whilst visiting Petra you’re able to travel via Golf Cart, Horse, Donkey or Camel for various prices however in my instance I opted to just walk. You’re able to travel Petra at your own pace and along the way you have plenty of locations offering affordable food, drinks and souvenirs.

Typical Flee Market in Hong Kong
#timetotravel
Temple street can be reached by Jordan MTR station Exit A, just a few blocks away, the tall red entrance gate will be standing on the right, straight into the road where shops and restaurants are, after passing the cross road, arrays of stalls selling all kinds of things there, bargaining is essential, starting from 5:00-6:00 and closing from 10:00 some until midnight.
There are plenty of street food, stores and restaurants around to sit down and sip cold beer and try a few dishes.

Jerash City - a discovery to Roman history
We ended our trip in Egypt and flew right into Amman, and straight off from the plane we were driven to Jerash city, where we had a full on excursion around the ancient city.
We were amazed by how the history of ancient nations intertwined when we saw historical architecture that were similar to the ones we saw in Rome, and how thriving it must have been back in the days dated back to thousands of years ago.
It was a well worthy day trip and we have learned so much, basically a walking history book. If you happen to be in Amman and have some free time, I’d definitely recommend paying this city a visit since it’s only an hour away from the capital. #Jerash #jordan #archaeology #Romanhistory #ancientlandmark #unesco

Jordan, A Must Visit for All
This post breaks-down the cost of my trip to Jordan, the purpose of this post is to provide an insight into what is possible and how you can go on lifetime adventures for less than we’re expected to believe.
Beginning with the main headline overall it cost £275 to take a 5 day trip to Jordan and visit one of the world wonders Petra. This cost includes return flights, hotels, visa and tickets to Petra. Below I am going to break down the costs and the options available to save money and have a fantastic experience rich trip.
Flights cost £75 and were booked around 10 days in Advance at the beginning of January from Liverpool. The flight itinerary involved 3 stops in total, a small layover 2 hour layover in Budapest, 12 hours in Venice and 10 hours in Brussels. The Venice layover in particular I utilised to get a €10 return ticket from the airport to the city centre and explored the beautiful city.
Moving onto Hotels Jordan offers a wide variety of hotels at varying levels like most countries in the world. In my case I opted for budget rooms in the capital city of Amman and one with a nice view in Wadi-Musa the town that is situated next to Petra. For me personally travelling I opt for the cheaper rooms as I have itineraries planned that involve me constantly being on that go resulting in the hotel room just being a quick resting and storage location. In Wadi-Musa I was able to get a room with a beautiful view and private bathroom for 19JOD (Jordanian Dinar) which is around £20-£21. Making the cost of Hotels very affordable compared to Europe and the United Kingdom in particular.
When choosing hotels in Amman my recommendation would be to consider your itinerary first, if you plan to visit a lot of the sites you can find a cheap room located in the old part of Amman for 12-20JOD. I would personally recommend this as the markets and restaurants of a night time in this part of Amman are authentic and special in my opinion. The additional bonus to this is you will be within 20 minutes walk of all major old sites within Amman.
The total cost for Tickets and Visas for my trip to Jordan was 75JOD (£83.90), included in this price is a tourist visa, two day access to Petra as well as access to other sites all over Jordan included Amman. The process is easy and a government run scheme, this gave me confidence that the price was reasonable.
In terms of the visa aspects of the pass you do this process by printing off a ticket with a barcode provided via email and show it at Airport customs. For Petra the process is going to a separate usually shorter ticket line at the entrance and picking up your tickets taking less than two minutes.
To conclude I hope this information has helped show and provide some tips so help anyone visit the majestic country of Jordan, you will not regret it!

Amman, A City Full of the unexpected!
Photos from my recent trip to Amman, Jordan. The city wakes up at night and the old town area near The Citadel and Temple of Hercules, which are both worth the visit especially during sunset and sunrise! During the night you can visit a lot of markets and restaurants that allows you to immerse yourself in Jordanian Culture.
Access to the temple and citadel is simple and there is a variety of ways up by walking however there is also a main entrance where you can park. To access The Amphitheater you have to purchase a ticket for a small price or it is included in The Jordan Pass.
I would advise taking at least a couple days when visiting Jordan to experience Amman, as the capital city it is great location to visit and I hope this post helps convince you!

The Monastery, Petra’s Hiking Beauty Spot
When visiting Petra The Monastery is located at the opposite end of the archaeological site from the entrance and main attraction, to get to the monastery you must walk for around an hour with 30/40 of those minutes being uphill, along the way there is opportunities to stop and upon getting to the top you’re treated to an affordable shop considering the location, seating locations and an option to continue to see a view of the mountain range that is the backdrop to Petra.
One thing you won’t miss when getting to the monastery is the huge sign saying “Best View in Petra” hung across a mountain face that takes you to an view that holds up to the signs claim, at the top their is another shop that closes around sundown. Definitely worth the extra effort and hike to go and see.
In the rest of the photos you can see some of the lesser known gems within the site of Petra which showcases the need to spend at-least a day exploring the entire site, you are able to select various routes and go at your own pace within Petra or there are plenty of guides available.

The perfect place to start your trip to Jordan 👌
Jordan 📍the Citadel
When thinking of where you should start exploring Amman the Citadel is the perfect starting point.
The Citadel Amman 📍
The second time visiting this beautiful country that never ceases to amaze me!
As the highest point in Amman, the Citadel is also the best place to take in sweeping views of the entire city
✨Entrance to the Amman Citadel is 2JD (2.82 USD) or free with the Jordan Pass.
✨It is open from 8 am until 7 pm on Saturdays to Thursdays between April and September and until 4 pm between October and March
✨It is a 20min walk distance from downtown, however, you can take a taxi for $3 dollars
✨ You can go alone or in a group, I felt really safe!
Tip: If you get your Jordan pass remember to keep the QR code for a year as it can grant you access to different attractions where it has not been used ✨👌

my trip to petra was amazing. i was surprised how man in the past, without supportive construction machine or equipment can build such incredible city. I bough a pass, thinking it is enough to see all places easily. but no! it is not enough. there are so many thing to see and explore. i suggest to buy at least 2 days pass and stay overnight in city so you can wander around without rushing.
Hidden gem in Jordan
A fun opportunity to explore the desert in Jordan. You get into a back of the car and explore the desert with a guide.
Later on, you will have a picnic with your guide and you will be given a bag full of food as shown in one of my pictures. You will have the opportunity to take a picture with camels that are wondering around. The car will stop from time to time so you can explore on your own.
We also climbed a mountain of sand. It was very difficult, but the view was insanely gorgeous. After we got down, we went to the campsite in which you have your own little room with as many beds as needed.
In the morning, you can watch the sunrise on the cliff and get breakfast at the main house. There are also bathrooms available.

Martian Landscapes! Wadi Rum was a bucket list destination for me.
Upon arriving, the mountains seemed to spring up from out of nowhere and seeing the sand shanking from golden tones to a deep red was pretty unique!

Ancient city carved into the red rocks
Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled amidst the rugged desert canyons of southern Jordan, is a breathtaking ancient city carved into rose-colored sandstone cliffs. Its most iconic structure, the Treasury (Al-Khazneh), captivates visitors with its intricate facades and mysterious aura. As you navigate through narrow Siq, a winding canyon path, the grandeur of Petra gradually unfolds, revealing tombs, temples, and amphitheaters intricately carved into the rock formations. The juxtaposition of nature and human ingenuity in Petra creates an unforgettable experience, drawing travelers to explore its archaeological wonders and immerse themselves in the rich history of the Nabatean civilization.#Jordan #travel #trip #Petra
The unsinkable Dead Sea
The Dead Sea, nestled between Jordan to the east and Israel to the west, is a mesmerizing body of water renowned for its extreme salinity and buoyancy. Its shimmering surface, one of the lowest points on Earth, is framed by barren, rocky landscapes. The water's high mineral content gives it a unique, therapeutic quality, attracting visitors from around the world to float effortlessly in its buoyant embrace. Despite its name, the Dead Sea teems with life, with mineral-rich mud and brine shrimp thriving in its harsh environment.#trip #travel #deadsea #Jordan
