Fort Santiago was built in 1571 by the Spanish as a citadel for Manila. It was badly damaged during World War II. Since 1953 it has been reconstructed, and ongoing work continues. It is within the old historical part of Manila known as the Intramuros.
There is a lot of interest within the fort, both historically, and shops selling all sorts of food and souvenirs. There is an entry charge. When we visited it was 75 pesos for adults, but as seniors (even not locals) we got in for 50 pesos each.

Stay at the Historical Center of Manila
If you want to stay near the cultural district of Metro Manila, book the Rizal Park Hotel. The hotel is located along Manila Bay thus offering pretty views. The hotel’s location is great for sightseeing as it is near tourist spots like Rizal Park, Intramuros, Rizal Monument, Manila Ocean Park, National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of Anthropology, and National Museum of Fine Arts, etc. The hotel is also near important buildings (like the Embassy of US) so staying for business and appointments will also be more worth it. Restaurants will also be only a few minutes’ ride away. Me and my friends decided to stay here as we were planning to go to the museums after talking the whole night.
The hotel is in elegant colonial style. The lobby feels grand, and check-in was easy. The rooms are also decked in the same style featuring white and cream colors. I love the views from our room especially at sunset. The hotel has its own restaurant and has a rooftop pool.
Just be extra careful with your valuables when walking around Manila at night.

A beautiful modern shopping mall in Manila
Today I visited a new mall called Greenbelt in Manila. All I can say is it exceeded my wildest expectations and was utterly fantastic. It is a modern mall and makes for a nicer experience than some of the other older facilities that you usually see in Manila.
Greenbelt mall has lots of shops, mostly high end luxury stores that cater to the middle class. There are also plenty of restaurants to enjoy food and beverages.

The Official Residence of the President🇵🇭
#timetotravel
This is Malacanang Palace where the Philippine President resides since 1935. To be honest I didn't know that we could tour inside the Palace until my sister told me. So I got excited and we headed there while we were in the Philippines. Since this is where the preisdent lives, expect that everything will be in pristine condition, the surrounding area is very clean and you have to follow the dress code too. You can't enter the palace with sleeveless, shorts and slippers. Also, only the library and the museum are open to the public. Enjoy your tour! Museum Entrance Fee: 30 but double check.
