What A Gorgeous City 🏙️❤️
There is so much to see and do and we just scratched the surface.
We did a lot of walking but also used taxis and metro and took a trolley tour.
The list is endless that we fitted in to such a short space of time - tour of US Capitol, Washington Monument (buy tickets ahead of time on the National Park's Website), Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, White House, Ford's Theatre (enjoyed A Christmas Carol in this quaint theatre), Union Station, National Cathedral, and endless Museums.
Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this fabulous city for anyone looking for a long weekend or week away - plenty to see, do and just enjoy the whole atmosphere of this capital city.
Having never been to Washington D.C. I did not know what to expect. The City is beautiful, with wonderful architecture, museums and great restaurants. We stayed at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel; centrally located and we could walk to the White House. The hotel was beautiful and the service was great; better than I could have hoped for. Stayed seven nights and still did not see everything. Rode the Metro the whole time were there and it was very simple to figure out. I am proud to call this the capitol of our country.

Coffee Planet Lahore- divine coffee and cakes
Coffee Planet is located at 10-Q College Rd, Block D Block Q Gulberg 2, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.
This is less than a km away from the Ramada for reference.
Unable to find good coffee near my hotel, my husband googled nearby coffee shops and brought me to this wonderful little western style cafe. There was great air conditioning and the employees were kind and respectful. I tried a latte and butterscotch Chocolate cupcake. I didn’t expect much but the coffee was steaming hot, strong and fresh. The cake melted in my mouth, it was so smooth and creamy. I ended up returning for a last coffee on my way to the airport because it was so good. #foodie #coffeelover #coffee #cupcakes #westernfood
Aromas that capture your senses
Wedome Bakery is a small bakery shop in Yanggao Middle Rd, easy to ignore but its aroma will make you come back on your steps to get a bite (even as take out if you’re already full). Hard not to do so, for baguette 🥖 lovers like my friend and I.
In this bakery, you can find cakes 🎂, sandwiches 🥪 , croissants 🥐, any type of bread 🥯, desserts 🧁 , biscuits and cookies 🍪. Although, in this visit most of the products available where salty (even better for me). Wraps looked so good! You can see how good is a particular product when you see how empty is the plate they were in (full of crumbs) ➡️ check the chocolate cake (pic 1) and the tarts (pic 3).
Apparently, you can order (request) them to make you a cake from their selection, and they will deliver it to you. I found appealing to see how their kitchen is under glass, so you can see the bakers preparing the sandwiches or baking in front of you.

Lingang Quest 2: Queen Imagine coffee
Nothing like short summer trips to explore those areas near you you didn’t knew about. Lingang area is located in Southern coast of Shanghai, by end of metro Line 16. Although, feels like a completely different city. Lingang has limited access for vehicles, a bit isolated from the city and public transportation. Yet, there are many places to visit and enjoy, much more affordable than Shanghai downtown.
Queen Image is a small coffee shop with super cute cakes. You can either share it with a coffee or take it home. One of the most popular shops among students. Even myself, not so much of a sweet tooth, couldn’t resist to bring a cupcake home. Rainy season started, not much option to sit down but doesn’t mean cannot be enjoyable later. And it was as delicious as it looks. Probably will visit again soon to try another one of these cuties. Probably the ‘Love’ tiramisu.

Bob The Baker Boy, Sembawang (Singapore)
The first thing I tried was the blueberry cheesecake and cookies-and-cream mini tarts, sprinkled with gold dust and cookie crumbs respectively. I thought they were the perfect size for dessert, like those petite delights from a fancy afternoon tea, with just the right level of sweetness. Each tart had a nice mix of textures: The creaminess of the filling, the crumbly goodness of the tart base and either the freshness of the blueberries or the crunchiness of the cookie crumbs.
Next up was the cookies-and-cream macarons. I have never been a fan of macarons as most of the ones I’ve tried are sickly sweet. These weren’t too bad, but still overwhelmingly saccharine compared to the other items in the box. The shells were done pretty well though, well-risen with a nice glossy sheen.
The cookies-and-cream cupcake as heavenly: The cake itself was moist, light and airy, topped off with deliciously smooth Oreo cream.
I tried the Au Naturel brownie square. According to its description on the website, it should be ‘moist and fudgy’. Moist? Not so much. Fudgy and chewy? Yup, very much so. I would’ve preferred it to be more ‘moist’ than ‘fudgy’, but that aside, it was quite well-balanced in its sweetness.
Lastly, the packet of fleur de sel (ie. salted) molten lava chocolate cookies. There were interesting white concentric circles in the chocolate, apparently called chocolate blooms, that are a result of ambient humidity (safe to eat!). I followed the instructions on the packet and the cookies came out fabulously molten and gooey. Unfortunately, it seemed as if the salt was rather carelessly sprinkled on as it was highly concentrated in certain areas, making those bites extremely salty and unpleasant.
My overall rating of the experience: 3 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
