It was so relaxing that I didn't want to leave! Near the hotel I stayed at, there's a super convenient Momijidani walking trail. You can take a chill, leisurely stroll to check out the Momiji Waterfall 🍁. The round trip takes about 40 minutes, which is absolutely perfect for anyone looking to quietly soak up some negative ions! The forest here is incredibly pristine; taking a walk completely clears your mind of worries, pumps you full of endorphins, and totally refreshes your body and soul! Quick tip: When hiking in the Japanese countryside, always remember to bring a bear bell! The most memorable moments during my Hokkaido trip were undoubtedly when I pressed the camera shutter. Driving from Sapporo to Biei, I discovered five incredible photo spots that I highly recommend. These places, showcasing the untouched beauty of nature, were so breathtaking that photos alone couldn't capture their full essence. 1. Lone Tree (Seven Stars Tree) 🌳 On a vast hill, there stands a solitary tree. A single photo encapsulates tranquility and solace. Even without a drone, the vibes are immaculate! 2. Blue Pond (Aoiike) 💧 The reflection of the sky on the water and the silhouettes of dried trees create a dreamy atmosphere. This is a sight you must experience in person. 3. Shirahige Waterfall ❄️ A spectacle in both winter and summer. The white, thread-like streams of water connect to the Blue Pond, adding a touch of mystery. 4. Farm Tomita 🌸 If it's summer, this is a must-visit! The colorful fields of lavender and other flowers are perfect for capturing life’s best shots. Although I visited during the transition from winter to spring and missed the flowers, the open space was still beautiful. Plus, the lavender ice cream sold at the shop is delicious! 💕 5. #AdventureTrip I'm not sure if anyone knows Asahidake Mt. in Hokkaido? I'd like to tell you that in Hokkaido, aside from the popular winter skiing/snowboarding season ⛄️🏂, in the summer you can also go trail walking or trekking. 🌳 This is Asahi-dake Mt. in July. From the Asakidake ropeway, take the cable car to Sugatami station on the mountain. Then there will be a trail about 1.7 km or if you can't handle it, you can walk a small loop, Inner trial (I've attached a map at the end of the picture). For those who can handle it and want to continue, there's a mountain trail where you can walk and enjoy the view for a long time. I'd like to say that the view is soooooo beautiful. You can walk and enjoy the view, stop and take pictures, it's so good. The path isn't too difficult, but there are a lot of rocks. Some places are slippery, some places are steep, so you have to look at the path. Don't get too caught up in the view, lol. And don't forget to apply sunscreen and bring a hat/UV-protection shirt. After you've finished walking, Get off the cable car at the ground station. A café that is a 2-3 minute walk from Biei Station☕ It's right from the station, so it's easy to use not only for those traveling by car, but also for those traveling by JR or bus.There are also rental bicycles, so it's recommended for those who want to enjoy cycling in Biei🚲It has a selection of hot or cold drinks and hot soup. We ordered coffee, fruit juice, pasta, waffle and soup. Overall the pasta and drink are yummy. Definitely will come back again next time if drop by Biei.

For example, trains depart from Asahikawa Station at 7:15, 9:15, 12:15, and 14:15, arriving at Asahidake at approximately 9:03, 11:03, 14:03, and 16:03 respectively. · Asahikawa Station → Asahidake: Currently 2,300 yen for adults. ② Asahikawa Airport → Asahidake · Take bus 66 as well. · Airport → Asahidake: Approximately 1 hour 3 minutes · Current fare: 1,650 yen · Airport departures: Approximately 8:00, 10:00, 13:00, 15:00. 🚠 After arriving at Asahidake The bus terminal is near the Asahidake Ropeway foot station. From there, you can walk to the following route: Asahidake Onsen → Asahidake Ropeway → Sugamimi Station The ropeway ascends for approximately 10 minutes, arriving at Sugamimi Station at an altitude of approximately 1,600 meters. From there, you can enjoy the Sugamimi Pond tour route, seeing Asahidake, the volcanic fumaroles, and the autumn colors of the mountains without climbing to the summit.

Known for its rolling, gentle hills, it is celebrated as the "Town of Hills." In summer, Biei's farmland and flower fields spread across the hillsides, serving as a postcard of Hokkaido's pastoral scenery. From Asahikawa, you can reach Biei by JR train in about half an hour. From there, you can transfer to the Biei View Bus or rent an electric-assist bicycle to easily explore this pastoral town. Due to the weather—occasional light rain and slippery roads—we didn't rent bicycles and instead stuck to the Biei View Bus route. ✨ Two major sightseeing areas in Biei 1. Patchwork Road + Panorama Road, two classic cycling routes · Patchwork Road: The rolling hills along the route are divided into plots of farmland. Wheat, potatoes, and buckwheat change colors with the seasons, resembling a colorful patchwork quilt from above. Scattered along the way are famous "lone trees": Ken & Mary Tree, Seven Stars Tree, and Parents and Child Tree. There is also Zerubu no Oka, where you can view rainbow flower fields. · Panorama Road: With vast, expansive views, you can take in the entire landscape of rolling hills, fields, and the distant mountain skyline. Stops along the way include: Shikisai-no-oka, Takushinkan, Sanai-no-oka, Shin-ei-no-oka, and Bibaushi Elementary School. 2. Shirogane area Featuring forests, the Blue Pond, and flower fields. Touring via the Biei View Bus is the top choice for independent travelers, as the bus makes scheduled stops with time allotted for photos and sightseeing, eliminating the need to drive or transfer. · Blue Pond: In 2012, a photo of the Blue Pond was selected by Apple for a Mac desktop background, making it famous. Because the water is rich in aluminum ions, it displays a dreamy blue hue, and the water surface changes color depending on the season and weather. Stands of withered larch trees stand quietly in the pond, creating an ethereal reflection on the water's surface. · Shirahige Waterfall: The source of the Blue Pond's blue water. It is a spring-fed waterfall where the cascading streams resemble white whiskers. · Shikisai-no-oka: Known as "God's spilled palette," it sits atop rolling hills. Dozens of flower varieties are planted in horizontal layers, with colorful flower strips extending down the hillside. The distant view features the rolling Tokachi mountain range, offering a vast and grand vista. It also features attractions like an alpaca farm and tractor-pulled sightseeing carts. 📮 Bonus | Shikisai Information Center + Biei Post Office After your tour, return to the Shikisai Information Center. This also serves as the Biei Tourist Information Center, where you can pick up free Biei maps and attraction brochures, and use lockers. It also sells various crafts made by local artists: wooden sand art and memo clips, corn husk dolls, and pastoral-style fabric goods, all of which make great souvenirs. If you like Biei landscape postcards, you can head to the Biei Post Office to get a special Biei postmark stamped on them. Since the matcha is whisked right in front of you, the preparation process itself feels like a special experience ✨ With the first sip, you’re greeted by the rich aroma and the perfect balance of bitterness and clarity. I hiked up from Ginsendai to see the "Zebra Snow Gorge" on Mount Hakuun, a sight I've wanted to see at least once in my life. My route this time started at Ginsendai, passing through Mount Aka and Mount Koizumi before reaching Mount Hakuun. 7:30 Departed from Ginsendai 11. 00 Mount Aka 12. 30 Mount Koizumi 13. 00 Mount Hakuun The view from Mount Hakuun was a spectacular early-summer exclusive, with the white of the lingering snow and the dark mountain surface creating a stunning striped pattern. The weather changed in the blink of an eye—just as a thick wave of fog rolled in, it suddenly cleared up to reveal the Zebra Snow Gorge. I'll never forget the sheer awe I felt the moment it appeared. The official estimated course time from Ginsendai to Mount Hakuun is about 4 hours and 10 minutes for the ascent, and 3 hours for the descent. I highly recommend starting early and building extra time into your itinerary for taking photos and resting. Daisetsuzan is brown bear territory. Please make sure to pack a bear bell, bear spray, a headlamp, rain gear, warm clothing, and plenty of water. Always check the latest updates on weather, trail conditions, and brown bear sightings before hitting the trails.
