Fukushima is an unexpectedly fun prefecture! Here are five spots I particularly enjoyed. I planned my trip to Fukushima with the main goal of visiting British Hills, which was used as a filming location for my favorite drama, 'Hana Yori Dango.' 🏰 Seeing the filming locations of a beloved drama is something that excites everyone, right? It was amazing to think, 'This is where that scene was shot!' 😍 Fukushima is also full of other attractions like Ouchi-juku and Tsuruga Castle! The blue hues of Goshikinuma (Five Colored Lakes) were so stunning that they are etched in my memory. 🌿 Be sure to visit! 🤍

The other day, I went to British Hills in Fukushima Prefecture⛪️✨. This place really doesn't seem like Japan, and you can feel like you're in England! The Manor House in the center of the site is particularly impressive, and it was actually dismantled and transported from England, and faithfully reproduced🏰. Just looking at it moved me with its majestic atmosphere and attention to detail. This time, I stayed at a lodging facility, and this building was also very nice and British✨. There were lots of antique furniture in the room, including a classic wooden desk, a fluffy sofa, and even a claw-foot bathtub🛁! In addition, the door lock was made of cowhide, and its texture made it even more special🗝. During my stay, I drank British beer and enjoyed afternoon tea at the pub on the premises☕🍰. The tea and scones were authentic, and I was able to spend an elegant time as if I was in the real England. The full course dinner and breakfast the next morning were both authentic and very satisfying! We also took part in a free tour of the park📖. We had fun learning about British culture while listening to explanations about the manor house and the facilities! We also tried making muffins! The freshly baked muffins were so delicious that they blew away all our fatigue🍪💕. British Hills is a great place to stay, and can be enjoyed on a day trip as well. Here are some spots in Fukushima that you definitely want to visit! They'll make you feel like you're overseas✍🏻 (All photos are from May 2023) _________________ This is "British Hills" in Fukushima Prefecture This place, "British Hills", has a wonderful townscape that seems to recreate medieval England✨ It's also famous for being the location for the famous "Boys Over Flowers"🌹 A snap of a magnificent building that looks like a castle📸 ________________ This place seems to be a facility that also serves as a language training facility, and you can learn English while you're staying (There's even a hotel where you can stay!) And the most commonly used language is English😳!! ! ! I was a little worried, but the foreign staff spoke slowly and with a smile, so I was able to understand them easily, so I didn't have to worry 🌼 ________________ 1. The corridor in front of the reception after entering the building is also beautiful 📸 It's like a castle 🏰 (3rd photo) You can check in at the reception and explore the inside of the building for 200 yen ✨ The admission ticket can also be used as a coupon for 200 yen off at facilities on the premises 🗣️ (What, it's practically free...!?) And if you have time, I recommend you join the "Manor House Tour", which allows you to take a guided tour of the inside of the manor house 🗣️It seems that you can only see the second floor on this tour...! British Hills in Fukushima "A Britain without a passport" This is actually where the filming of Domyoji Tsukasa's house in Boys Over Flowers was done! It is based on the image of the Middle Ages, the period when Britain was at its most prosperous and had the greatest influence on the world. It is a place where you can experience studying abroad while still in Japan. I'm not that good at English, but I was able to give it a try, albeit with a bit of broken English!

𓂃⋆　꙳ A UK where you don't need a passport🇬🇧𓈒𓏸𓐍 The 𝔹𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕤𝕙 ℍ𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕤 in Fukushima was just like Harry Potter and it was the best🐖❤️ ✔︎The official language is English I was surprised that everything from check-in was in English!! I completely forgot I was in Japan, and it was fun✨ Of course, there are Japanese🇯🇵 staff, so you can speak Japanese◎🤣 The location is in a forest 1,000m above sea level. British Hills is surrounded by forests, and there is a lot of fog in the mornings and evenings🥺✨✨✨ It was just like the world of Harry Potter🇬🇧 There are sports such as tennis🎾 and badminton, and the sport snooker, which originated in the UK. ✔︎Calligraphy ✔︎Scone-making classes, etc. You can take lessons to learn about British culture in English🥳 I made scones, and it felt like I was taking an English class for the first time in a while, so it was fun✨lol #photogenicspot #luxuryhotel

Let me introduce you to some absolutely stunning spots with completely different vibes I came across in the Aizu area of Fukushima Prefecture 📸💕 First up is Ouchi-juku, a beautifully preserved post town straight out of the Edo period 🍡🍵 The streets lined with thatched-roof houses create a deeply nostalgic vibe that is picture-perfect from every angle 🌿🏘️ With Ramune soda chilling in crystal-clear streams and the mouthwatering aroma of char being slow-grilled over an open hearth, the whole place feels incredibly evocative 🐟🔥 Their famous "Negi Soba" is eaten using a massive green onion instead of chopsticks! It was as fun and impactful as it was delicious 😋🥢 I struggled a bit at first, but you definitely get the hang of it ⭐️ 　 Next, we totally switched gears and headed to British Hills, a slice of the UK where you don't even need a passport 🇬🇧🏰 Fun fact: This is actually the filming location for Tsukasa Domyoji's sprawling estate in the iconic drama "Boys Over Flowers" 📷🌸🍡👑 With its stately manor and grand halls illuminated by sparkling chandeliers, it feels like stepping right into a movie scene... Even the furnishings are wonderfully authentic, letting you fully soak up that overseas vacation vibe without ever leaving Japan 🌹✨ For the night, we checked into the Ashinomaki Grand Hotel to unwind in their famous hot springs ♨️ We treated ourselves to an extravagant Kaiseki dinner spread featuring top-tier beef, fresh sashimi, and abalone. It was the ultimate pampering experience 🦀🥢 Highly recommend trying out their sake tasting flight, too 🍶 Each of these spots is genuinely spectacular, so definitely keep them in mind for your next trip to Fukushima 😉🌟

I recently enjoyed an authentic British afternoon tea at the Ascot Tea Room, located within British Hills in Tenei Village, Fukushima Prefecture. The tea room's name, "Ascot," is derived from the royal-owned [Ascot Racecourse]. On the first floor of the tea room, you can always enjoy 23 varieties of black tea, seasonal blends, and traditional British cakes, while in the evening, classic British home-style cooking is served. Additionally, craft lessons conducted in English are held in the craft room on the second floor. During my visit, I had the Afternoon Tea Set (3,200 yen at the time). The three-tier stand features traditional chicken, egg, and cucumber sandwiches, homemade Quiche Lorraine, carrot cake, and an array of seasonal sweets. The homemade scones are particularly popular. A great perk is being able to choose two of your favorite flavors from a selection that includes plain. Crispy on the outside and wonderfully moist on the inside, these freshly baked scones were an absolutely perfect match for the tea. During lunchtime (11:00 AM – 2:00 PM), you can also savor "Pasties," a regional specialty from Cornwall in southwestern England. The Meat Pasty and Vegetable Pasty (1,900 yen each) are beloved traditional British pastries featuring savory fillings wrapped in a flaky, crisp crust. Historically, they were created as a convenient, portable meal for coal miners and farmers. Since very few places in Japan serve them, it's definitely a must-try dish! I went to England, a place you can visit on a day trip from the city center! British Hills is a language school and hotel in Fukushima Prefecture (a section of the town modeled after a British town, run by the language school). As I drove along the mountain roads, a cluster of British-style buildings came into view. I spoke to the staff, including the Japanese, in English! Even purchasing a ticket (hotel guests don't need to purchase one; this was a day trip) was exciting! It got my international travel bug going. By the way, this ticket can be used as a voucher at the shop, so admission is essentially free. I was surprised when I went inside; it was much more British than I expected! The dining room inside the manor house is reminiscent of Harry Potter, and the pub and buildings were so beautiful I almost thought I was walking through the Cotswolds. There are a variety of walking routes, and there was an event going on, so I was able to hear a live bagpipe performance. This place is sure to be great for cosplay fans and others. I visited in the summer, and perhaps because it's on top of a mountain, it was very cool, which is another characteristic of Britishness. I recommend it as a summer getaway! It might be cold in the winter, though... It's interesting that they use their own currency, the British Hills Pound, but you can still pay with Japanese yen, with 4 British Hills pounds being 400 yen. I had the opportunity to stay overnight at British Hills, a facility where you can experience "Passport-Free Britain"! Located in Ten'ei Village, Iwase District, Fukushima Prefecture, British Hills is a British cultural experience accommodation facility situated at an altitude of 1,000 meters in the Hatoriko Highlands. Spanning over 70,000 tsubo (approximately 23 hectares), the grounds are filled with buildings that faithfully recreate medieval British architecture. From manor houses and guesthouses to cobblestone streets and streetlights, the atmosphere makes you feel as though you've stepped into Britain itself. Access is convenient, with a reserved shuttle bus taking about 40 minutes from Shin-Shirakawa Station. It's also just about two and a half hours from central Tokyo by train and car, making it an accessible getaway to enjoy an extraordinary experience in a nature-rich environment. Check-in is at 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 10:00 AM. Within the facility, there are restaurants, tea rooms, and pubs where you can savor British cuisine. Additionally, there are various activities such as manor house tours, language training, and craft workshops, allowing guests to learn about British culture during their stay.
