We arrived at the airport early in the morning and the Aman staff were already waiting for us at the check-in counter. We didn't have to worry about anything, as they took care of our luggage and boarding passes. When we arrived in Bhutan, our guide and driver picked us up and took us straight to the Thimphu Lodge. In the car, we found our 7-day itinerary, blankets, snacks, and Wi-Fi. The bonfire performance in the evening was very local and quite nice. The waiter covered us with a blanket and tucked us in. It felt so nice to be taken care of. The day we went to see the Tiger's Nest was really exhausting, even though we rode horses for part of the way. In the end, the guide helped me up the mountain. The staff were all very enthusiastic and they had a cute little fat dog named Lucy.

I started in Paro, home to the iconic Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery). The trek up the cliff to the monastery was challenging but incredibly rewarding — the view of the monastery perched on the cliff against the backdrop of the valley was breathtaking. In Thimphu, the capital, I explored Buddha Dordenma, Tashichho Dzong, and local markets, experiencing the blend of tradition and modernity. The journey through Bhutan is also a feast for the senses. Rolling green valleys, terraced rice fields, and pristine rivers create a serene environment, while local cuisine like ema datshi (chili cheese stew) and freshly baked breads add to the cultural immersion. This is my second trip to Bhutan and it is as incredible as before. Bhutan is more about high value and low volume tourism and it reaps the rewards with clean sites and low tourist numbers that allows you to enjoy the country at your own leisurely pace. Bhutan has a lot of sites and attractions for tourists and very nice facilities that are up to international standards. I will definitely return again.

This place is all about those calm mountain views, peaceful monasteries, and crisp, fresh air that kinda makes you feel like a new person. Everywhere you look, green hills, prayer flags dancing in the wind, and sleepy clouds just floating by. You’ll find a mix of temples, walking trails, and local spots where people are just doing their thing. The giant Buddha Dordenma statue? Insanely epic. It’s perched high up, watching over everything, and the views from there? Chef’s kiss! If you’re into chill walks, light hiking, or just soaking in those slow mountain town feels, Thimphu is totally your scene. The city itself is quiet, no traffic lights, super laid-back, it’s got this calm rhythm you can’t help but vibe with. Honestly, it’s not about ticking boxes here. It’s about slowing down, looking around, and just feeling the peace. Bhutan really hits different.

Bhutan is the happiest country in the world, and it goes without saying that there aren't many people who have been there! ? You can't travel to Bhutan on your own, and you must arrange a guide, hotel, and tour through some agency. You also need to apply for a visa through the agency. But on the other hand, once you've decided on a travel agency, they'll do everything for you, so it's easy lol Your guide and driver will be waiting for you as soon as you enter the country. The official languages are Dzongkha and English, so it's easy to understand the English your guide speaks! If you spend money, you should be able to find a guide who speaks Japanese! The destinations are roughly organized into tours, and you can request the places you want to go! Oh, I took a private tour, but it's more economical to apply with friends or in a group 🉐 The two famous cities of Thimphu and Paro are the ones we visited, and we went around the temples, and I hiked to Taktsang Monastery, and experienced a stone bath during a home visit. Taktsang Monastery is not an easy hike 😂 I recommend bringing comfortable shoes and a backpack... A home visit is unusual for its stone bath...! A bath where hot stones 🪨 are placed in the bathtub to heat it up. Experience this and then have a meal together! It's interesting to see what an ordinary home is like! Bhutan doesn't have anything particularly unusual or eye-catching. But that's why the charm of Bhutan is that you can relax in nature while feeling the teachings of Buddhism! #summervacay Tashichho Dzong, aka Thimphu Dzong, is straight-up regal. Like, you walk up and go, “Okay yep, this is some royal-level architecture right here.” Massive white walls, golden roofs, and super neat courtyards, it’s clean, grand, and just feels important. And it is! It’s where the king works and big national ceremonies go down. The vibe is formal but still really peaceful. If you go in the late afternoon, the whole place glows in the golden light and it looks like a scene out of a fantasy movie. Seriously, the lighting is next level. You can’t explore every nook since it’s an actual working government building, but the open areas and the main temple are beautiful. Monks in red robes, carved woodwork everywhere, and prayer wheels spinning quietly in the background, it’s a vibe. It’s a nice mix of spiritual and official, and definitely worth a stroll if you’re hanging around Thimphu. Fancy but chill, Bhutan style!
