I wanted to buy some Mexican souvenirs to take back as gifts for friends, so I went to the "La Ciudadela" handicraft market. I thought I could finish browsing in a short time, but it turned out to be much bigger than I expected. It's easy to get lost inside, and I ended up spending two or three hours there without realizing it. This place is basically a paradise for Mexican handicrafts. You don't need to rush there on a weekend or come early in the morning; you can stroll around at your own pace. The moment you enter, you're enveloped in Mexican atmosphere. The colors are incredibly vibrant, perfect for taking photos 📸; every corner is photogenic. There's so much to buy: 🪅 Hand-woven dolls 🎨 Pottery, plates, cups 🧲 Fridge magnets, keychains 💀 Skull figurines 👒 Straw hats, traditional clothing 🖼️ Decorative paintings, ornaments And various hand-woven bags, jewelry, and much more—the selection is vast. I think the prices are a bit cheaper than in some tourist areas, but you definitely need to try bargaining! However, I personally felt that the bargaining space here wasn't as large as I had imagined. For example: · A woven figurine was initially priced at 80 pesos. I tried to bargain down to 65 pesos, and after negotiating back and forth for over ten minutes, I could only manage to get it for 70 pesos. · Most fridge magnets and keychains can usually be bargained down by about 5-10 pesos (when buying several and paying in cash). 💵 It's recommended to bring cash! Many vendors are more willing to offer a discount if you say you're paying in cash; if you pay by card, it's usually harder to negotiate the price down further.
