Roadside Market is a food complex that suddenly opened in Saga in September. The concept is to combine the best of roadside stations, markets, and alleys, and you can visit as many of the six restaurants in the building as you like. I personally got so addicted to it that I went twice in September 😂 I went to all of them, and each one has its own merits. Tosu Station This JR Kyushu station is located in Kyomachi, Tosu City, Saga Prefecture, and is one of the oldest stations in Kyushu, having existed since the opening of the first Kyushu Railway. It's already Day 4 of our trip! 😊 The weather was quite chilly. We checked out early in the morning and drove to Donki, the ultimate hit shopping spot for Thais. The branch we visited wasn't far from our stay—Don Quijote Minami-Kumamoto Store. We ended up walking around there for hours! 🌿 🚗 After that, we continued our drive, taking the long expressway toward Fukuoka city. For lunch, we decided to stop at a rest area: Hirokawa SA (Inbound). We ate at the self-service food court—just drop in your coins, press the button for the dish you want, and go pick it up. The best part is the free drinking water dispenser! If anyone's looking to buy souvenirs, they have a massive selection here too. 🛍 🥖 We wrapped up our meal with a Japanese-style matcha latte at Amami no Shizuku (甘味のしずく) (honestly, we think Thailand does it better for this grade of matcha). 🍵 ❤️ Once our stomachs were full, we hit the road again. I decided to book seats online for the 12:01 Yufuin No Mori train from Yufuin to Huis Ten Bosch, with a transfer to the Huis Ten Bosch train at Tosu station. Reserving the tickets online proved to be quite challenging, with each seat costing 1,500 Yen. On the travel day, there was a long queue to board the train, and I noticed very few available empty seats. There was a carriage offering snacks for purchase, though we boarded the train well-prepared with delicious food like Milch Cheese Pudding (absolutely delightful), grilled mushroom with cheese, and fresh strawberries. The entire journey offered breathtaking scenery, and I even caught sight of a stationary Seven Stars train at one station. At Tosu station, our carriage (Carriage 1) was conveniently located near the elevator, making it hassle-free to move from platform 1 to platform 5 for our connecting train.
