Funes Valley
#hellohalloween
The Funes Valley (Val di Funes) in the Dolomites of northern Italy is becoming increasingly popular.
1. Breathtaking Scenery: The valley is renowned for its stunning landscapes, with the Odle/Geisler Group in the background — a jagged mountain range that looks almost otherworldly. The combination of lush green meadows, towering peaks, and charming wooden farmhouses creates a perfect postcard scene. It’s one of the most photographed areas in the Dolomites.
2. Hiking & Outdoor Activities: Funes Valley offers numerous hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty, so it's ideal for both casual walkers and serious hikers. The area is also great for mountain biking, and in winter, it attracts people for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

You flight to Batumi or Tbilisi and from tbilisi
The journey is approximately 208 km (129 miles) and takes around 3.5 to 4 hours by car, not including the time spent at the border.
The Border Crossing: Sarpi
The most important part of your journey is crossing the Georgia-Turkey border at the Sarpi checkpoint. The process is generally straightforward, but be prepared for potential queues, especially during peak season.
By Car: You will drive your vehicle through the checkpoint. Ensure you have all your necessary documents, including your passport, car registration, and potentially a visa or e-visa depending on your nationality.
By Foot: It's also possible to take public transport (Bus #16 or a "marshrutka") from Batumi to the Sarpi border, walk across the border, and then take a Turkish minibus (a "dolmuş") from the other side to the town of Hopa.
Places to See on the Turkish Side (after the border)
The route follows the scenic Black Sea coastline, so you'll be treated to beautiful views of the sea on one side and the lush green mountains on the other. Many of the most popular attractions are in the nearby Rize Province.
Near Hopa (just after the border)
Mençuna Waterfall: Located near the town of Arhavi (close to Hopa), this is a stunning natural attraction. It's a bit of a detour but worth it for nature lovers.
Hopa Port: Take a walk along the coast and enjoy the mountain views where they meet the sea.
Çamburnu Nature Reserve Park: A peaceful spot with lush greenery and hiking trails for a brief stop.
Near Rize (the "Tea Capital")
Rize is a major city on the route and is famous for its tea plantations.
Rize Castle: Perched on a hill overlooking the city and the Black Sea, the castle offers panoramic views and a glimpse into the region's history.
Zil Castle: A medieval fortress built on a steep cliff in the Fırtına Valley. It's a popular spot for photographers and offers spectacular views. This is a bit of a detour inland from the coastal road.
Ayder Plateau: A famous highland village known for its stunning alpine scenery, traditional wooden houses, and thermal hot springs. It requires a significant detour inland from the coastal road but is a very popular tourist destination.
Fırtına Valley: Known for rafting and ziplining opportunities on the Fırtına River, it's an exciting stop for adventure seekers.
Detours from the Main Route
Uzungöl: This is a spectacular mountain lake located in a village about 100 km inland from Trabzon. While not directly on the E70 highway, it's one of the most famous tourist attractions in the region and a veryHow to get around:

Trabzon: Where the Black Sea meets the mountains and Sera Lake 😍
Last year I had travelled to the Western and Southern part of Turkey and had such a wonderful time exploring the diversity - but I wanted to see just how much more magical it could get - and wow! Trabzon blew me away! The views, the food, the markets, the hospitality, THE VIEWS!!
It was such a beautiful destination with everything close by! We stayed in the heart of Trabzon near Meydan Park. There were buses and markets within walking distance. That by default made everything closer! It took about 10-15 minutes to get to the airport, about 20 minutes with a minibus to find this magical view close to Sera lake, and pretty much everything else was just a stroll away - including restaurants and cafes offering diverse cuisines, and a vibrant walkway with dinner on a cruise! Absolutely recommend this destination for couples 😜 #couplestrip #turkey #100waysoftravel

Trabzon is the largest and most controversial city on the Black Sea coast. Either love or hate. This is a complicated place because it has both the shackles of a big city and the dilapidated appearance of a port city.
We went with the Taiwanese boys and girls who met each other and climbed to the top of the mountain to watch a sunset. The messy antennas above the building are staggered as if to divide the sky. In some houses, the dilapidated saw blade is the only defense on the top of the earthen wall. The Taiwanese boy who studies art says "very artistic, I like it very much."
In the village, there is a monument-like thing next to the path, with taps on it, which were built before the death of the locals, and when the descendants drank water, they thought of their merits. Really, there are interesting styles everywhere.

Trabzon is the largest city in the eastern Black Sea, the busiest port. Trabzons football team and Bursas football team are the only non-Istanbul teams that have won the Turkish National League, but it seems that they have been more than 20 years since they last won, and everyone here seems to be proud of it.
Trabzon fun place:
1. Trabzon Museum
This is an Italian-style mansion built by a Russian businessman in Turkey.
There is an exhibition hall dedicated to the facilities in the mosque.
There is also a room where Ataturk lived.
2. Boztep Picnic
Google Map Search: Boztepe
A place that is perfect for picnics, keep going up the road in the village.
can see a meadow halfway up the mountain. Take out the bread ham and drink bought on the road, you can have a picnic with your friends.
There are a lot of local people drinking tea in the teahouse next to it. The price is very cheap, and the scenery is beautiful.

Trabzon is the busiest port and largest city in the eastern Black Sea. There is a football team and a Bursa team that is the only non-Istanbul team that has won the Turkish National League. Although they have been winning the championship for the past 20 years, they still have great glory.
This is a friendly city. Of course, every city in Turkey deserves such a description. The specific enthusiasm can be seen from the photo taken by the locals when I go to the fish market~
There is also a Russian here. The Italian-style museum built by the merchants in Turkey is also worth seeing, and there is a very strange kebab, probably only 1TL. I am holding a try and I am going to eat a food that looks like meat. But like rice mixed with ketchup, and a half-mountain picnic place? Yes, there is such a place...

5-Day Trabzon Tour: Sumela Mon
On our second day in Trabzon, we booked a tour to the Sumela Monastery. At 9 a.m., we were picked up in front of the Hanife Hatun Mosque by a very comfortable Mercy Van.
We were the first passengers to board, so we had free choice of seats.
We had three destinations that day: Sumela, Zigana, and Hamsikoy. The tour cost 950 lira per person. It was a great deal for a day trip with three destinations until the afternoon.
Our first stop was the Sumela Monastery. Because there was still a lot of snow, the stairs were very slippery to climb. It was quite a struggle to get to the top. Oh, and from the base, we had to take another dolmus bus, which cost about 70 lira.
To enter the Sumela Monastery, tourists pay 20 euros. But if you have a museum card, it's only 100 lira.
At the top, the view was breathtaking, almost like wallpaper.
Here, I sprained my ankle because I didn't see the stairs while rushing to take a photo. Luckily, there was snow, so I quickly covered it up. But it was incredibly difficult to get down.
After Sumela, we continued on to Zigana, an incredibly beautiful ski resort. Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle and couldn't do anything. Then we continued on to Hamsikoy for lunch with an incredible view. It was absolutely beautiful.
Anyway, if you come here, you'll be treated to a truly stunning view. #snow #sumelamonastery #zigana #skiresort #hamsikoy #trabzon #turkey

SWITZERLAND IN TURKEY - UZUNGÖL LAKE.
When we first visited the Black Sea region, we were amazed by the atmosphere of this area. It is one of the most scenic places we have ever seen in Turkey.
Among green tea plantations and mountains, not far from Trabzon, lies Uzungöl Lake.
⛰️The lake is truly stunning in its beauty. What stood out the most was the view from the observation deck — it is simply breathtaking! Even on the hottest day, it stays quite cool here, which makes this place perfect for отдых.
🧆On the shore of the lake, there are many cafes and souvenir shops where you can try local delicacies and buy something to remember the trip by. In addition, there is a children's playground there, so you can confidently bring kids with you. They will definitely love it.
🛕Also not far from the lake is the Panagia Sumela Monastery, built into the rock, and it is also a must-visit.

Here’s a quick travel scoop on Volterra, Tuscany’s ultimate hilltop charmer and the wild, emerald-hued beauty of Ozan Göl Lake in Trabzon! 🌿🏰
Top Spots to Visit:
1. Volterra’s Historic Center: Get lost in winding medieval streets, past ancient walls and artisan shops. Major must? The Roman Theatre (Via dei Sarti, open 10am-6pm) and Piazza dei Priori — total old-world vibes.
2. Volterra Cathedral and Baptistery: Marvel at the impressive architecture (Piazza San Giovanni, 8am-7pm) and snap some moody, dramatic shots if it’s cloudy or rainy, which just adds to the Tuscany mystique.
3. Ozan Göl (Trabzon): This hidden gem lake is surrounded by lush trees and reflections of misty skies on the water. Bring a raincoat—cloudy, drizzly weather makes the experience magical.
My Insider Tips:
- Time your walks around Volterra in the early evening for fewer crowds and the coolest photo light.
- In Trabzon, pack a picnic for Ozan Göl, but beware: lakeside benches get slippery when wet, so sturdy shoes are a must!
- For rainy days, both spots become super atmospheric—don’t let drizzle stop your exploring.
Get Around:
Volterra: Easiest via bus from Pisa or Florence (arrive at Volterra Porta Fiorentina). Inside town, it’s all walkable—just be ready for hilly streets!
Ozan Göl: Car or taxi access from central Trabzon works best.
Foodie Recos:
Volterra: Try wild boar pappardelle and cantucci with dessert wine at a trattoria on Via Porta all’Arco.
Trabzon: Sip hot tea at the lakeside kiosks—classic Black Sea hospitality!
Quick Tips:
- Bring an umbrella and waterproof bag for your camera and snacks.
- No special visa needed for these spots (but always check your nationality requirements).
- Euros for both Italy and Turkey, local ATMs work fine.

Sunkissed Serenity at Hydir Nabi in Trabzon 🌄🌸
Hydir Nabi (also spelled Hıdırnebi) is renowned for its lush green plateaus, enchanting wildflowers, and panoramic mountain views—making it a dreamy escape for nature lovers in Trabzon! The air is crisp, the vibe is tranquil, and the landscape feels straight out of a fairy tale.
Start your day by following the winding drive up from Trabzon city—best explored in the morning when the sunlight bathes the hills in golden hues. Walk the plateau trails and take in the endless vistas; the main viewing point is perfect for those sunny shots with colorful wildflowers in the foreground. Don’t miss snapping a photo with the rolling clouds below, especially if they're drifting through the valleys—this is one of Hydir Nabi’s most ‘insta-worthy’ angles!
Must-do: Stroll around the plateau, picnic on the grass, and enjoy the fresh mountain air. If you’re feeling adventurous, chat with locals for tips about less-traveled paths or pop into a hillside café for homemade pie and Turkish tea.
Visiting tips: Wear sturdy shoes—the terrain can be uneven—and pack layers, as mountain weather shifts quickly. Hydir Nabi is at its best in late spring and summer when flowers bloom and skies are clear. Arrive before noon for fewer crowds and vibrant sunlight (great for photography!).
Precautions: Weather can turn misty and chilly, so carry a raincoat or light jacket. Cell signal may be patchy, so plan your route in advance!

How I spent 1 day in Trabzon Turkey
Trabzon is a hidden gem worth exploring. This city offers something for everyone—from history enthusiasts to nature lovers and foodies.
In the city center, you’ll find the Trabzon Hagia Sophia, a beautiful structure dating back to the 13th century. Unlike its namesake in Istanbul, Trabzon’s Hagia Sophia is smaller but equally impressive, showcasing unique Byzantine frescoes and intricate architecture. Walking through its halls, visitors can truly feel the city’s historical depth.
Beyond history, Trabzon is famous for its breathtaking landscapes. The city is surrounded by lush green hills, rivers, and the Black Sea coastline, offering travelers endless opportunities to enjoy nature.
The Uzungöl Lake, approximately an hour and a half from the city center, is one of the most photographed spots in the region. Surrounded by dense forests and mountains, the lake is perfect for a relaxing stroll, a boat ride, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the area. The small village nearby also gives visitors a taste of traditional Black Sea life.
