As I write this Autumn is fast approaching, so why not get out your walking boots and smell the fresh air! Kinver Edge Forest is a ridge and hill fort overlooking red sandstone rock houses. Within Kinver Edge there is a pocket of wilderness that buzzes with life. From the sound of the trees whistling in the wind, to the bats flying about at night - it all comes alive! What’s more, there is ample green space and benches to sit around and soak up this natural wonder. Many people like to bring a picnic, walk their dog and generally walk the different trails of Kinver Edge. If you get chance, check out the Holy Austin Rock Houses whilst you’re there! 📍Kinver Edge, West Midlands 💰It’s free! Just get yourself there - note there is no public transport to this. 🍔 There is a small cafe onsite located at the south of the forest park as well as other local eateries and pubs nearby. #passionpassport #nationaltrust #nature #traveltheotherside #travelwithme #theotherside #kinver #westmidlands #england

When you think of the Cotswolds, the towns that likely come to mind first are Bourton-on-the-Water and perhaps Bibury. Because tour groups and some independent travel routes often connect Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, with Oxford, visiting these two is more convenient—not to mention that Bourton-on-the-Water is already famous. As for Broadway and Chipping Campden, they are tucked away on the northwestern and northern edges of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and lack rail connections, making them naturally harder to reach. However, the "relative obscurity" of Broadway and Chipping Campden not only means you don't have to rack your brain to find a photo spot amidst the crowds, but it also means the essence of these pastoral towns is much purer. 1. Travel highlights Chipping Campden has a market hall built in the first half of the 17th century. The building materials are the honey-colored stone characteristic of the Cotswolds, and the roof is supported by wooden herringbone trusses, rather than the arched wooden trusses common in large-span European architecture. The High Street in Chipping Campden retains its medieval-style architecture, and it is said that this landscape has not changed significantly since the 14th century. However, the street itself is still paved with standard asphalt. The town hall in Chipping Campden is next to the market, very small but charming. There is a library opposite the town hall, and free public restrooms nearby, which is very friendly for tourists. To visit the town's church, you need to leave the High Street and go via Church Street. This church, named "St. James," also has a honey-colored exterior, while the interior decoration is quite simple. The church has excellent lighting, making it feel bright and airy. Near the church, there is also a barn museum and some very "Cotswold" thatched cottages. The core landscape of Broadway still unfolds along the High Street. Unlike some other Cotswold towns, Broadway's High Street is relatively wide, lined with horse chestnut trees dotted with red flower towers, and the honey-colored buildings are shaded by the street trees. If you happen to be there in early May, you can experience the dreamy atmosphere created by wisteria in Broadway. Against the backdrop of sturdy vines and purple flower clusters hanging like grapes, the honey-colored buildings seem to hide their doors and windows, becoming dwellings for elves. Of course, there is also some wisteria in Chipping Campden. Broadway Tower is located on the outskirts of the town. You need to hike up the mountain or drive along a fairly long mountain road. The hiking route passes many pastures, where you can kindly greet Mr. and Mrs. Sheep who are "tasting dishes" or enjoying a feast. 2. Transportation Driving yourself might be a more suitable choice, but taking the bus is also feasible. Starting from or heading to Stratford-upon-Avon, you can take a Stagecoach bus to travel between Stratford-upon-Avon, Chipping Campden, and Broadway. You can download the bus company's mobile app in advance and choose a day pass like the "Day Rider." Although it's not cheap, the good thing is that you can hop on and off unlimited times. Theoretically, the day pass can be used until 4:00 AM the next day, but in reality, there is almost no chance to use it after the last bus of the day finishes operating. The Cotswolds span across counties like Gloucestershire, Somerset, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, and Oxfordshire. It covers a vast area, making it difficult to explore everything in one go. Therefore, it is important to choose Cotswold towns that suit your interests and itinerary. Chipping Campden and Broadway are relatively close to Stratford-upon-Avon, so you might consider visiting them together. In addition, the swans in Stratford are quite interesting. When someone is feeding them, they compete fiercely for food; when they see someone standing by the water, they will swim over elegantly to beg for food; if no one is feeding them, they will leave dejectedly. Of course, it is recommended not to feed outdoor animals when traveling abroad. In Stratford-upon-Avon, you can also look for the rare golden postbox and admire the literary giant and the characters he created.

Broadway Tower is located at the summit of Broadway Hill in Worcestershire, standing at an elevation of 312 meters. It is the second highest point in the Cotswolds and is known as the "Highest Castle in the Cotswolds" due to its fairy-tale appearance. This unique structure is an 18th-century folly, a tower built purely for decoration and viewing without any actual defensive function, and is now a Grade II listed building in the UK. 📜 A Legendary History A whimsical origin story: The tower was built from a romantic noble whim. Lady Barbara Coventry was curious whether a beacon lit on Broadway Hill could be seen from her home 22 miles (about 35 kilometers) away in Worcester. So the Earl funded the construction of the tower to verify this—and it was indeed clearly visible. The study of a printing magnate: From 1822 to 1862, the tower was used as a private printing press by Sir Thomas Phillips, a famous collector of manuscripts and books. A rural retreat for artists: In the 1870s, William Morris, the founder of the Arts and Crafts Movement, along with his Pre-Raphaelite artist friends Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Edward Burne-Jones, lived here. It is said that the tower’s isolated beauty in the wilderness inspired Morris to later establish the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. From wartime lookout to Cold War bunker: During the two World Wars of the 20th century, the tower’s excellent vantage point made it a lookout post for the Royal Observer Corps to monitor enemy aircraft. During the Cold War, an underground nuclear bunker was built near the tower to monitor nuclear explosion effects. This bunker was decommissioned in 1991 and has since been restored and opened to the public.

Went exploring the history of Worcester with my partner went to see the old jail and where the old city wall once stood. Was very informative and would recommend anyone who's interested in British history to come and have a look for themselves #worcester #Worcesterhistory

Spent a lovely day at Barbourne Park and honestly, it’s one of those underrated spots that deserves more attention 🌿 The peaceful walking paths, open green spaces, and the calm vibe make it perfect for a reset. Whether you’re going for a solo walk, a picnic with friends, or just want to sit back and watch the world slow down, this place really delivers. I especially enjoyed spotting birds and just soaking in the fresh air. Tips if you’re planning a visit: · Go in the morning or around sunset for the best atmosphere · Bring a blanket and snacks, it’s ideal for a chill picnic · If you enjoy photography, there are some great natural backdrops · Perfect spot for a casual stroll or light exercise Simple places like this remind you that you don’t always need something fancy to have a great day. #WorcesterUK #HiddenGems #NatureEscape #ParkLife #WeekendVibes #ExploreMore #PeacefulPlaces #TravelUK #GreenSpaces #ChillSpots

Worcester really surprised me in the best way. It’s one of those places that feels peaceful but still has plenty to explore. The highlight has to be the stunning cathedral sitting right by the River Severn. Walking along the riverside, especially around sunset, is something I’d definitely recommend. It’s calm, scenic, and perfect for clearing your head. If you’re into history, there’s so much to take in, from charming old streets to fascinating museums. And for food, the local cafés and pubs don’t disappoint. Try to explore beyond the main spots, you’ll find some real hidden gems. A few tips: · Wear comfortable shoes, the best way to enjoy Worcester is on foot · Take your time by the river, it’s worth it · Visit early morning or evening for a quieter experience · Don’t rush, it’s a place to slow down and enjoy Worcester might not always be the first place people think of, but that’s exactly what makes it special. #WorcesterUK #HiddenGemsUK #UKTravel #ExploreEngland #RiverSevern #TravelDiaries #CityBreakUK #DiscoverMore #TravelInspo #WeekendGetaway #HistoricEngland #WanderUK #PeacefulPlaces

If you’re looking for a city that feels like a warm hug, Worcester is the place. We spent a beautiful day wandering through its historic streets, and it was the perfect mix of indulgence and culture. 🇬🇧✨ 🥐 The Pastry Stop: We started our morning with a caffeine fix and some serious treats. If you’re a pastry lover, you have to try these: Pistachio Croissant: Nutty, creamy, and perfectly flaky—it’s an absolute dream. 🟢🥨 Cherry Almond Croissant: The tartness of the cherry paired with the sweet almond filling is a 10/10 combination. 🍒🥨 The Cappuccino: Perfectly frothed and the best companion for a slow morning of people-watching. ☕☁️ 🚶♂️ City Center Stroll: After breakfast, we took a stroll through the City Center. The mix of modern shops and stunning timber-framed Tudor buildings (like those on Friar Street) makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It’s incredibly walkable and full of character. 🏰🏘️ ⛪ Worcester Cathedral: The highlight of the walk was, of course, the Worcester Cathedral. Standing tall since 1084, it is an architectural masterpiece. ⛪✨ The Vibe: Even if you just view it from the outside, the Gothic details are breathtaking. Pro Tip: Don't miss the walk along the River Severn right behind the cathedral—it offers the most peaceful views of the water and the building's reflection. 🌊🦢 📍 Location: Worcester, Worcestershire, UK ✨ Best For: A relaxed day trip, history buffs, and foodies looking for the best bakes in the Midlands. #travel2026 #travel #thingstodo #england #unitedkingdom #couplestrip #localfood #dessert #myitinerary #worcester #coffee
