Got bombarded with questions! It’s not Xinjiang, not Switzerland, this is the Sangke Grassland in Gannan!
Family, who understands! This summer, I finally went to the Gannan I’ve been longing for! I originally planned to escape the heat, but ended up falling straight into a world from a Hayao Miyazaki manga!🖼️
The average altitude here is 3,000 meters, with none of that Tibet-like altitude sickness headache, but for your eyes, it’s simply heavenly!👀
📍Location: Sangke Grassland, Xiahe County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province
🎫Tickets: Free! Free! Free! (Important things said three times, don’t go to the wrong place and get scammed)
🚗【How to Play】
Don’t just rush into the “Sangke Grassland Visitor Center”! The real beauty is on the road!
Trust me, set your navigation directly to “Gannan Xiahe Airport.” This road crosses the heart of the grassland. When you see the scenery on both sides change from houses to an endless sea of green, with cattle and sheep scattered like pearls on the grass, find a safe spot to pull over! This is the right way to experience Sangke Grassland!
🌸【A Summer That Lasts Forever】
Sangke in July is truly breathtaking!🌱
The green here isn’t just one shade; the meadows look like giant matcha cakes, with large patches of rapeseed flowers planted by locals in the middle, a golden sea that’s super stunning!
The hillsides by the road are covered with wildflowers of various colors (called Gesang flowers by locals). When the wind blows, it’s like they’re nodding at you.
And be sure to look up! Big fluffy clouds like cotton candy hang right overhead, as if you could reach out and pick them. That kind of healing feeling—who gets it!☁️
🐎【Immersive Experience】
1. Horseback Riding: How can you come to the grassland and not ride a horse? Although a horseman will lead you slowly to ensure safety, sitting on the horse and looking at the snowy mountains in the distance and wildflowers nearby, you’ll feel like the most beautiful Tibetan girl on this grassland! Remember to bargain, about 40-50 yuan for a ride around.
2. Climb a Small Hill: If your body allows, definitely climb a small hill by the road! It’s a bit breath-taking to climb up, but when you stand on the top and see a 360-degree panoramic grassland, with the Daxia River like a silver ribbon winding through the grass, that vastness will make you feel it was all worth it.
3. Stay One Night to Watch the Stars: This time we stayed at a Tibetan guesthouse on the grassland (not as comfortable as a hotel, but very characteristic). At night, we joined a bonfire party organized by the owner and danced the Guozhuang with Tibetan friends. The joy was truly infectious! Late at night, the starry sky here is simply amazing because there’s no light pollution, the Milky Way is clearly visible, and it feels like the entire universe is right before your eyes!
📷【Photo Spots Sharing】
· Road Shots: With safety guaranteed, stand in the middle of the asphalt road, with the grassland stretching to the horizon as the background. Every shot looks cinematic.
· Wetland Reflections: At the Sangke Wetland Park section, the water beside the boardwalk is as calm as a mirror, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, and mountains. Silhouettes here are stunning.
· Prayer Flag Hillside: One hour before sunset, find a hillside covered with prayer flags. Shoot against the light, with sunlight filtering through the flags, creating a full atmosphere.
⚠️【Tips to Avoid Pitfalls】
· Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! Important things said a hundred times! The UV rays are insanely strong. If you don’t want to turn into a little black girl, apply sunscreen thoroughly and use physical protection (hat, sun-protective clothing).
· About Clothing: Don’t be fooled by the comfortable 20+ degrees during the day; the temperature difference between day and night is huge! Once the sun sets, you’ll need a down jacket or windbreaker. No exaggeration.
· Respect Customs: Areas fenced with barbed wire are private pastures of herders. Don’t drive in or trample on prayer flags casually.
· About Altitude Sickness: Most people are fine, but don’t get too excited running or jumping when you first arrive. Also, avoid showering on the first day just in case.
Trust me, the Sangke Grassland in summer is a place you must visit at least once in your life!🌿
