And during sunset... if you take the cable car, you MUST include the Twin Towers in your photo! The view will be amazing. After getting lost several times, I finally found Xiamen's "Sunset Express" viewing spot. 📍 How to get there: Search for "Skyless 33" on a map. Then walk up the stone path. Tips for taking photos: • I recommend arriving around 5 PM during winter. This way you'll see the sunset and the Blue Hour after the sun sets. • For photos, I recommend using a 100mm lens. On clear days, you can even see Kinmen clearly. Lying in bed immersed in the sea view—who could say no to that kind of joy! The room is super spacious, starting at 42㎡, with no sense of confinement. The decor is a gentle, upscale light luxury style, maximizing comfort! The bedding is so soft you sink right in and don’t want to get up, sleeping until you wake naturally. Detail lovers will be touched by the dry and wet bathroom separation, extra-large sea view bathtub, and premium toiletries. You can soak in the tub while watching the sea, making the experience feel truly special! Flew back from Xiamen to Singapore on Singapore Airlines SQ869, seated in 48A in Economy Class — an emergency exit row seat. The extra legroom made a noticeable difference, especially on a mid-length regional flight. Being able to stretch out comfortably definitely elevates the economy experience. The meal served was chicken meatballs pasta, and it was surprisingly good for airline food. The pasta was cooked well, the sauce flavorful without being too heavy, and the chicken meatballs were tender. A satisfying hot meal that didn’t feel like an afterthought. In-flight entertainment (IFE) was solid as usual with a good selection of movies and shows to keep the journey enjoyable. Cabin service was warm and professional — consistent with what you’d expect from Singapore Airlines. Once you reach the top, the reward is clear — sweeping views of Gulangyu’s red-roofed buildings, the surrounding sea, and even parts of Xiamen city across the water. On a clear day, the scenery feels expansive and refreshing. The site also carries historical significance, with inscriptions and landmarks that reflect Gulangyu’s cultural past. Flew Singapore Airlines SQ868 from Singapore to Xiamen and, even on this relatively short regional sector, the experience felt refined and comfortable throughout. I pre-ordered my meal via Book the Cook and chose the Creamy Burrata with Prosciutto & Heirloom Tomatoes. It was an excellent choice. The burrata was smooth and rich, paired beautifully with the savory prosciutto and the natural sweetness of the heirloom tomatoes. Light yet indulgent, and surprisingly restaurant-quality for an in-flight starter. It’s always satisfying when airline catering genuinely delivers. I was seated at 12J, enjoying the well-known “bucket seat” on the Boeing 737 MAX 8. The seat felt private and cocoon-like, with good space for a regional flight. While it’s a narrower cabin compared to wide-body aircraft, the design still provides comfort and a premium feel. Service was attentive and polished, exactly what you’d expect from Singapore Airlines.
