Puxuan Food Court in Baihe, Tainan! If you want to eat Chinese food near Baihe, you can definitely come here for a walk and a meal. The quality is pretty good! Especially the homemade dishes, it doesn’t matter what the boss cooks, it’s always amazing!

✨Trip highlights Limited-time autumn chrysanthemum exhibition, 160,000 pots of various autumn chrysanthemums in full bloom, blending Xinye's Three Kingdoms culture. Enjoy flowers by day, take great photos at night, and catch folk performances. A relaxing and pleasant short-trip flower viewing tour around Nanyang. 🚗Getting there Departing from Nanshan Moshe Hotel by car, it takes about 50 minutes to reach the Xinye Baihetan Park chrysanthemum exhibition area. Parking is convenient, and admission to the exhibition is free. 🏨Accommodation | Nanshan Moshe Hotel After enjoying the sea of flowers, this is the perfect place to stay. The environment is quiet and comfortable, and the rooms are clean and fresh. It's a great place to relax after a long day, making your trip stress-free. 🌼About the exhibition This year's chrysanthemum exhibition is themed "Chrysanthemum Charm of the Three Kingdoms · Elegant Baihe". There are hundreds of chrysanthemum varieties, rich in color and diverse in shape, layered to form a sea of flowers. The park has created many creative chrysanthemum sculptures such as peacocks, deer, chrysanthemum balls, and chrysanthemum trees, as well as Three Kingdoms-themed landscapes like "Han Rhyme Lingering". The sea of flowers blends with the ancient city's heritage, creating a full atmosphere. Every photo you take is a stunning autumn shot. Not just flowers, the exhibition area also features opera, intangible cultural heritage monkey performances, and a Guochao (national trend) market. If you are tired of walking, try the authentic Xinye Banmian (noodles). When evening comes, the lights turn on, the sea of flowers is covered in soft light, and the night view has a unique charm. Day and night have two different beauties. If you have enough time, you can also visit the nearby Hansang City Ruins Park, visit the "world's smallest city", and reflect on the Three Kingdoms in the fragrance of flowers. 💡Travel tips 1. The best viewing period is from late October–early November. The exhibition lasts until November 20, and admission is free 2. Remember to prepare sunscreen and drinking water for outdoor flower viewing. Wearing light-colored clothes will make your photos look better 3. The crowd is larger on weekends. It is recommended to set off earlier to avoid peak times for a better experience

I've divided Nanyang summer getaways into long mountain trips (2 days, 1 night) and short city water-based trips (same-day round trip). I've also organized the pros and cons, transportation, dining, accommodation, and tips to avoid tourist traps, so you can just follow this guide. I. Core summer attractions (5 top picks) [Mountain summer getaways | 2-day 1-night top picks] 1. Laojieling Tourist Resort (5A, 22°C natural air conditioning) The average summer temperature is only 22°C, with high forest coverage, an easy cable car ride up the mountain, the north-south boundary line to step across, and evening summer music festivals. Suitable for family vacations and staying in mountain-view cabins. 2. Neixiang Baotianman Ecological Cultural Tourism Zone (primeval forest + stream water play) The only remaining primeval forest in the Central Plains, fully shaded by trees, with cool mountain streams. Hike along the water trails; no need for air conditioning even during the hottest days of summer. Top choice for family water play and getting fresh air. 3. Henan Danjiang Daguan Garden (lake views, boat rides) The source of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. The lake is as vast as the sea. Enjoy boat tours, lakeside strolls, and cool evening breezes. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying a Danjiang fish feast. [City water-based trips | Same-day round trip] 4. Baihe Beach (free family water play) Shallow water + fine sand. The river is very shallow, and the evening breeze by the river is refreshing. A local favorite for summer family outings. Free admission. 5. Nanyang Wolonggang Wuhou Shrine (shaded summer retreat + night shows) Ancient cypress trees provide shade throughout, helping you avoid the midday sun. Night sessions are available in summer with live light shows. It's cooler to enter in the evening. II. Pros and cons of Nanyang summer getaways ✅ Pros 1. Significant temperature difference, great summer experience: The city is muggy, but the Funiu Mountains are 10°C+ cooler. You won't need air conditioning in Laojieling or Baotianman in summer. 2. Diverse activities: Includes mountain rafting, stream water play, lake cruises, and Three Kingdoms historical sites, balancing nature and culture. 3. Affordable prices: Mountain homestays cost just over 100 yuan per person, and city dining is around 60 yuan per person. Better value than Luoyang or Kaifeng. 4. Many accommodation options: Plenty of chain hotels in the city, and mountain cabins or mountain-view courtyards in the deep mountains, suitable for short-term stays. ❌ Cons 1. Long distance to mountains: Laojieling and Baotianman are in the counties, requiring a 2+ hour drive one way. Public transport is infrequent and can be a hassle. 2. Large day-night temperature difference: Short sleeves during the day, but a light jacket is needed at night. Frequent mountain showers, so bring an umbrella. 3. Uneven scenic area facilities: Mountain farmhouses have average hardware, some small shops have high prices, and accommodation prices rise significantly during peak season. 4. Midday sun in the city: 12:00 PM–3:00 PM is not suitable for outdoor sightseeing; plan for indoor activities or return to the hotel to rest. III. Accommodation recommendations (city + mountains) 1. Nanyang City (top choice for visiting Wolonggang and Baihe) · Guoling No. 19 Hotel (Binhe Road Branch) High-end smart hotel with fresh air system and zero-pressure mattresses. Close to Baihe Wetland Park, making evening strolls very convenient. Includes breakfast and late check-out options. Great value. · Wandro Jinshe Hotel (Wancheng Branch) Full-room smart controls and large rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows. Located right above the Wanyue City commercial area, offering one-stop dining and shopping. Suitable for young travelers. · Taifeng Fuju Hotel Affordable and comfortable, with an on-site restaurant and convenient parking. A good choice for families on a budget, costing just over 100 yuan per person. 2. Xixia Laojieling (mountain vacation) - Laojieling Summer Resort Located right at the entrance to the scenic area, with cabin-style rooms and detached courtyards. No need for air conditioning at night. Includes an on-site restaurant and performances, perfect for a one-night family stay. 3. Neixiang Baotianman (top choice for water play and rafting) · Baotianman Shanshui Inn Adjacent to the scenic area gate, with a small stream out front for fishing and water play. Features charging stations, BBQ, and karaoke. Costs around 100 yuan per person. Great value. · Piaoliu Yuexiang Hotel Located just a few hundred meters from the Baotianman rafting pier. Rooms are clean, and there is a viewing deck in the backyard. The owner's earthen pot chicken is highly recommended. Staying here is the most worry-free option for rafting. · Qingya Shanjian Inn Creekside mountain-view rooms with terrace BBQ and smart room features. Suitable for couples and families on short trips. The environment is quiet and serene. IV. Dining and travel tips 🍜 Dining recommendations 1. City dining: Hanfu Xiushui Hotel Authentic Henan cuisine. The Peking roast duck, Hanfu roast chicken, and wild mountain vegetables are all very authentic. No pre-made dishes. Top choice for family gatherings. 2. Mountain farmhouse dishes: Stir-fried yellow beef, scrambled eggs with wild chives, stir-fried bracken, earthen pot chicken, and Danjiang fish. Be cautious with farmhouses at the scenic area entrance; small shops at the village entrance are more affordable. 3. Snacks: Banmian (flat noodles), lamb soup, Zhenping roast chicken, and Nanyang steamed vegetables. 👕 Clothing and gear · City: Short sleeves + sun hat + light long pants; avoid midday sun. · Mountains: Short sleeves during the day, must-have light jacket for morning/evening. Many mountain roads, wear non-slip sneakers. · Carry a raincoat; sudden afternoon showers are common in the mountains. 🚗 Transportation guide 1. City travel: High-speed train to Nanyang East Station, about 20 minutes by taxi to the city. For short distances, ride a shared e-bike. Wolonggang, Baihe, and the Prefecture Office are close together; taxi starting fares are low. 2. To Laojieling: About 2.5 hours by car via expressway; tourist shuttle buses are also available, running daily during summer. 3. To Baotianman: Driving is most convenient. Public transport requires going to Neixiang County first and then transferring to a rural bus, which takes longer. Driving is recommended. ⏰ Itinerary (golden hours for summer getaways) · Morning: 8:00 AM–11:30 AM, enter the mountains to visit attractions. · Noon: 11:30 AM–3:30 PM, return to the homestay to rest and avoid the sun. · Afternoon: After 4:00 PM, go out for water play, explore the ancient city, or see the night views. V. Two ready-made itineraries 1. 2-day 1-night mountain summer getaway (top pick) Day 1: Depart from Nanyang → Baotianman stream water play → Check in at Shanshui Inn, evening BBQ by the river. Day 2: Morning visit to Baotianman Forest → Return trip, stop by Danjiang Daguan Garden for a boat ride and lake breeze. 2. One-day city cool-down itinerary Afternoon visit to the shaded Wolonggang Wuhou Shrine → Evening water play and sand play at Baihe Beach → Nighttime enjoy Banmian and visit the night market. Do you prefer a two-day mountain summer getaway or just one day in the city? I can further refine the itinerary by the hour and help you filter out farmhouses that are tourist traps.

“This land is full of heroes, and Wancheng carries a thousand years of history.” Located on the banks of the Baihe River, the Nanyang Museum is a newly designated national first-grade museum and a cultural landmark in southwestern Henan, housing a 5,000-year scroll of Nanyang civilization. The main exhibition hall, “Civilization in Wan,” takes you on a journey through time. The Neolithic Dushan jade shovel, warm and primitive, bears witness to the long history of Dushan jade mining; the Western Zhou dynasty tripod of the Lady of Marquis E fully displays the ritual and music system of the Zhou dynasty; the Eastern Han dynasty gilded bronze vessel with bear-shaped feet is the most captivating, with three adorable bears supporting the wine vessel, its gilded patterns shimmering with light, fully showcasing the elegance of the Han dynasty. The most interesting part is the “Pottery Casting Han Might” exhibition hall, where hundreds of Han dynasty pottery dogs with different expressions are lively and vivid, recreating the bustling daily life of Nanyang as the “Southern Capital and Imperial Hometown.” Bronze ware, ancient jade, and Han steles are displayed in sequence, where the styles of Chu and Han blend together, allowing you to understand this fertile land where Zhang Heng and Zhang Zhongjing once farmed. The museum building is grand and simple, with the Baihe River flowing leisurely outside the window. Stroll through it, touch the cultural pulse of the Wan region, and understand the profound history of this land in the southwest of the Central Plains. ✨Travel Tips 📍Address: No. 369 Dingsheng Avenue, Wancheng District, Nanyang 🎫Free, requires advance online reservation ⏰Recommended visit duration: 2.5 hours, very suitable for local educational tours in Nanyang

Nanyang, formerly known as "Wan," is an ancient capital with a history spanning thousands of years, nestled in southwestern Henan. It's the place where Zhuge Liang farmed, the hometown of Zhang Zhongjing, and the birthplace of Zhang Heng, where the ancient charm of the Han Dynasty and the scenic beauty of the Funiu Mountains converge. Even better, the city's affordability is surprisingly down-to-earth—you can eat your fill at the night market for just 50 yuan per person, and a bowl of Fangcheng braised noodles costs less than 15 yuan. Nanyang isn't for a whirlwind tour; it's best enjoyed at a slower pace, taking three days to savor its history and everyday life. Must-see attractions: From the "Eight Old Scenic Spots" to the Funiu Mountains Nanyang has long been known for its "Eight Old Scenic Spots"—the Hidden Traces of Wolong, the Fragrant Deeds of the Medical Sage, the Han Dynasty Charm of Lingshi, the High Tomb of Hengxing, the Ancient Attire of the Prefectural Government, the Solitary Peak, the Flowing Water of Yuping Lake, and the Dawn Moon over Fushan. These names evoke vivid images; let's explore a few of the most worthwhile ones. Wolonggang Wuhou Temple (entrance fee approximately 50-60 yuan), also known as "Wolong Yinji" (Hidden Site of Wolong) among the "Eight Old Scenic Spots," is where Zhuge Liang lived in seclusion. The temple grounds are filled with ancient trees and weathered red walls. Originally built during the Wei and Jin Dynasties, it is over 1800 years old and was designated by the Ming Dynasty court as a place for worshipping Zhuge Liang. Stepping inside creates a unique sense of time travel—the bluestone slabs beneath your feet may be older than the history of most countries. A guided tour is highly recommended, otherwise it's easy to rush through; Three Kingdoms enthusiasts will likely find themselves captivated. Nanyang Prefectural Government Office (entrance fee approximately 30-40 yuan), also known as "Ancient Prefectural Government Office," is one of the best-preserved prefectural-level government offices in China. Built during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, its rigorous layout and grand scale have earned it the nickname "a miniature of the Forbidden City in Beijing." In the main hall, you can experience "beating the drum to appeal for justice," and taking photos in traditional Hanfu on the bluestone slabs is incredibly photogenic. At night, the red lanterns illuminate the area, creating a truly immersive atmosphere. The Temple of the Medical Sage (entrance fee approximately 25 yuan), also known as "The Fragrance of the Medical Sage," is located on the banks of the Wenliang River. It is the ancestral temple and memorial site of Zhang Zhongjing, the "Medical Sage," and a medical and cultural site integrating cultural relic protection, collection of traditional Chinese medicine literature, and sacrificial commemoration. Inside, the temple features blue bricks and gray tiles, ancient cypress trees, and displays ancient books, documents, and medicinal specimens. If you are interested in traditional Chinese medicine culture, this place is worth exploring at a leisurely pace. The Nanyang Han Dynasty Stone Carving Museum (free admission), also known as "Lingshi Hanyun," is China's first art museum dedicated to the collection, display, and research of Han Dynasty stone carvings. It is situated north of Wolonggang and south of the Baihe River. The stone carvings depict chariots and horses, banquets and dances, and mythological stories, all vividly portrayed—a scene of life in Nanyang two thousand years ago, frozen in stone. A guided tour is recommended to gain a deeper understanding of the details. The Xixia Dinosaur Relics Park (entrance fee 75 yuan) is a national 5A-level scenic spot, hailed as the "Ninth Wonder of the World." This is the world's largest dinosaur egg fossil site, and the Dinosaur Egg Site Museum is the "TOP 1" must-see. Mostly indoor exhibits, it's unaffected by rain or heat, making it perfect for educational trips with children. From Nanyang, you can take a bus to Xixia Old Bus Station, then transfer to a direct bus to the scenic area; the journey takes about 30 minutes. Laojieling Tourist Resort (entrance fee 60 yuan, package ticket 180 yuan including scenic area shuttle and cable car), the core of the Funiu Mountain World Geopark, is also the dividing line between the northern and southern climates of China. The average summer temperature is only around 18℃, making it a popular summer resort in Central China. Must-see attractions include the watershed and the glass suspension bridge; the peak season for sea of clouds is from June to October. It takes about 2 hours to drive there from the city, or you can take a bus to Xixia and then transfer to the scenic area shuttle. Neixiang County Government Office (entrance fee 75 yuan), built in the eighth year of the Dade reign of the Yuan Dynasty, is the first government office museum in China. Unlike the Nanyang Prefectural Government Office, the Neixiang County Government Office is more "down-to-earth," offering an immersive understanding of the ancient grassroots judicial system. The recommended tour route is: View the auspicious beast against greed at the screen wall → Beat the grievance drum at the main gate → Ceremonial Gate → Watch the court hearing performance in the main hall → Second Hall → Three Provinces Hall → Six Offices Area → Former Prison Site → Back Garden. The back garden offers excellent views in Hanfu (traditional Han clothing). It's about 60 kilometers from Nanyang city center, and driving is the most convenient option. Food: Nanyang's stomach is bigger than you imagine. Nanyang cuisine blends the richness of Central Plains noodles, the spiciness of Han River flavors, and the simplicity of mountain steamed vegetables, emphasizing a "simple yet addictive" style. Breakfast: A basket of shumai and a bowl of soup. Nanyang people's mornings begin at "Xin Yichu Handmade Shaomai and Freshly Poached Meatball Soup" on Jianshe East Road. This shop is a Wancheng District intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship inheritance store, where the traditional techniques of shumai making and freshly poached meatball soup preparation have been passed down through generations. The shumai (steamed dumplings) are made with fresh beef and mutton filling, rolled, wrapped, and steamed to order. The dough is thin, chewy, and translucent, while the filling is plump and juicy. The meatball soup is made entirely by hand, kneading the meatballs until firm, and then poaching them in boiling water. The meatballs are firm and bouncy, and the soup is clear, rich, and flavorful without being greasy. A basket of shumai paired with a bowl of meatball soup is a breakfast staple ingrained in the hearts of Nanyang locals. It costs around 20 yuan per person. It's recommended to go before 11 am, as they may close after noon. Three must-try noodle dishes: stewed noodles, flat noodles, and minced meat sauce. Fangcheng stewed noodles are the top choice for Nanyang noodles. There's a 30-year-old shop on the main road in Fangcheng's old town. The storefront is unassuming, and the decor is still in the style of over a decade ago, but the tables are always full from morning till night. The secret lies in the mutton soup pot that's been simmering for decades—every day at 3 am, the owner puts fresh lamb bones into the pot and simmers it for six hours, the aroma of which can be smelled throughout the entire street. The noodles are chewy and the broth is rich and flavorful. Add a touch of chili oil, and a bowl of this warms you from stomach to toe. Xinye Banmian, also known as "Zhang Fei Banmian," is a Henan Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage. Legend has it that it originated in the late Eastern Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period, when Zhang Fei, stationed in Xinye, invented this wide and chewy noodle dish. Banmian comes in two varieties: with soup and dry-mixed. The dry-mixed version is even chewier, coated in a thick beef sauce, with each noodle evenly soaked in the gravy, offering a satisfyingly chewy texture. There's a Banmian shop in Xinye that has been passed down for five generations, selling over a thousand bowls a day, yet only charging 9 yuan for a large portion. Xinye Saozi, also known as "Three Kingdoms Saozi," is another iconic traditional snack of Xinye County. In 2026, it was featured as an intangible cultural heritage item at the local "Intangible Cultural Heritage New Year's Shopping Festival." The saozi is stir-fried until dry and fragrant, and it goes perfectly with noodles, steamed buns, or rice. Featured Dishes: Roast Chicken, Yellow Beef Feast, Braised Goose Zhenping Roast Chicken is worth a special trip. In the old town of Zhenping, on the South Gate Old Street, there's a roast chicken shop that's been open for almost eighty years. They use locally raised free-range chickens, over a year old, first coated in honey and deep-fried until golden brown, then slow-cooked in a century-old broth with over twenty kinds of spices for more than ten hours. The finished chicken is so tender that the meat easily separates from the bone with a gentle shake; every strand is infused with the aroma of the braising sauce, even the bones are fragrant. There's also an authentic Zhenping Roast Chicken shop near the Railway Club close to Nanyang Railway Station, open for over twenty years. It's small, but the taste is excellent. Nanyang Yellow Beef Feast and Shiqiao Braised Goose are recommended featured dishes on the Nanyang Rose Tour themed itinerary. Nanyang Yellow Beef is one of the five major breeds of yellow cattle in China, known for its firm meat and rich aroma. A Yellow Beef Feast includes everything from braised beef to beef bone soup. Shiqiao Braised Goose is a traditional local Nanyang dish; the goose meat is braised until flavorful and tender. Night Markets and Snacks Nanyang's nights are more exciting than you imagine. The Fuya Night Market and Shierlihe Snack Street are two treasure troves of culinary delights, offering everything from street food to satisfying main dishes, from youthful flavors to night market revelry – a one-stop shop for Nanyang's gastronomic feast. Grilled gluten skewers are 5 yuan a skewer, sesame jelly is 8 yuan a bowl, and fried skewers and glutinous rice cakes average 5 to 10 yuan. With an average budget of 50 yuan, you can eat until you're stuffed. Cheng Jifu Spicy Soup (Wancheng Old Town Branch) is the benchmark for Nanyang's local spicy soup, having been open for over twenty years. Its flavor is completely different from Zhoukou spicy soup – the broth is slow-cooked with beef bones and over ten kinds of spices, resulting in a bright red color and a spicy, savory aroma. A bowl in the morning will energize you completely. Practical Tips Transportation: High-speed rail directly connects to Nanyang East Station. From Zhengzhou, it takes about 1.5 hours; from Wuhan, about 2 hours; and from Xi'an, about 3 hours. Note that regular trains stop at Nanyang Station, which is not the same as the high-speed rail station. In the city center, public transportation and taxis are readily available to attractions, while rural buses are available for more remote areas. For nearby attractions like Lao Jie Ling and Xixia Dinosaur Park, driving is the most convenient option. Accommodation: I recommend staying near Xinhua Square or the Prefectural Government Office area. Guesthouses cost around 100 yuan per night, and there's a food street right outside, making it very convenient to find food. Pace: Nanyang isn't a place for rushing. You can allocate one and a half to two days for the city's cultural attractions, and another day for the surrounding mountains and rivers. Wear comfortable shoes; walking an average of 20,000 steps a day is no joke. The beauty of Nanyang lies in its unhurried pace. It doesn't compete or vie for attention, quietly displaying its two-thousand-year-old story in its streets, ancestral halls, and dining tables, waiting for you to discover it. Come with an empty stomach, leave with a roast chicken – this is perhaps Nanyang's most genuine way of hospitality.

Visiting Nanyang in September for photos is a pro move📸. At Wolonggang, the red walls and ancient cypresses paired with the thatched cottage look best in the gentle, slanted light at 3:00 PM. Wear a light-colored long dress, but skip the heels—the stone paths will make your feet suffer after a while😅. The blue-tiled courtyards of the Prefecture Office are perfect for Hanfu; focus on details like the screen wall at the entrance and the second gate rather than wide shots for a more sophisticated look. The Temple of the Medical Saint has a quiet, medicinal-scented courtyard with few crowds, and the white walls against green plants create a cool, serene vibe. The Han Picture Gallery is free, but don't use flash; side lighting on the stone carvings creates a super evocative look🨨. Don't miss the sunset along the Baihe River; the water near Yuyang Bridge has a soft reflection, and a low-angle shot with your phone is enough to post on social media. If you catch a sunny day at Laojieling, the cloud sea at Fenshuiling and Riyuetai is stunning, but don't force it on rainy or foggy days—you'll just end up frustrated waiting for something that won't appear☁️. Bring a lightweight tripod for mountain shots; avoid selfie sticks since it's windy, and messy hair actually looks more carefree. Let me be real about avoiding pitfalls🙃. September in Nanyang often has light rain, with temperatures around 19–27°C. It's cool in the morning and evening but muggy at noon; you'll suffer on Laojieling without a light jacket. Tickets for Wolonggang are about 50 on-site, but checking for timed tickets on Trip.com is safer. The Prefecture Office is 39, the Temple of the Medical Saint is 23.8, Neixiang County Office is 75, and Laojieling admission plus sightseeing bus is about 41. Choose cable car packages based on your stamina—don't blindly stock up on bundles🎫. Avoid unlicensed mountain taxis; I'd be so annoyed if I got stuck with a cheap ride-share. Booking through official stations or Trip.com is worry-free. The viral braised noodles at the scenic area entrances are overpriced and bland—don't bother. For Dushan jade and local specialties, the old streets in the city are more reliable than shops at the attractions. Wearing new shoes to walk around Wolonggang and Shedian Ancient Town is a huge mistake—after 20,000 steps, your feet will be swollen and painful👟. Stone paths are slippery when wet, so non-slip soles are more important than style. Here's a lazy-friendly itinerary🗺️. Day 1: City culture. Wolonggang is less crowded in the morning, followed by the Temple of the Medical Saint and the Han Picture Gallery. In the afternoon, listen to a brief guide at the Prefecture Office, then take a walk along the Baihe River in the evening. Day 2: Light cross-county trip. See the official layout at Neixiang County Office, then head to Shedian in Sheqi after lunch. The carvings at the Shan-Shaan Guild Hall are intricate, and the ancient town streets are free to explore—no rush to get back to the city. If you have extra time, Day 3 is for Laojieling in Xixia. Book the sightseeing bus into the mountains on Trip.com, and add the cable car based on your stamina—don't force the hike. If it rains, switch to the city; a slow stroll through the Han Picture Gallery and Prefecture Office is more comfortable🍵. Check tickets and round-trip transportation together on Trip.com so you won't be caught off guard if you need to change plans last minute. For food, here's how to avoid traps🍜. For Fangcheng braised noodles, choose a place with rich lamb bone broth and wide, chewy noodles; pair it with pickled garlic and chili—eating this in the morning will make you sweat, which feels great. For Xinye board noodles, look for hand-pulled ones with red oil sauce and a braised egg; dipping the Bowang guokui (flatbread) in the soup is amazing. At the Prefecture Office snack street, rotate through pan-fried buns, hot and sour soup, Tanghe jelly noodles, and Nanyang steamed vegetables—dip the steamed veggies in garlic sauce to cut the grease. For a drink in the evening, order yellow wine with roast chicken. Don't order large portions at the scenic area entrances; sharing is just right for two🥢. For sweets, choose rose cakes or almond tea to snack on while taking Hanfu photos. Overall, the cost per person isn't crazy; you can eat very well in the city for a few dozen yuan a day. Dining in the mountains is pricier, so bringing your own water and snacks is more relaxed🥤. If you have a sensitive stomach, don't order everything spicy—try the broth with less spice first, or your trip will turn into a struggle.

Nanyang is best experienced by combining "ancient city culture + suburban landscapes." For first-time visitors, we recommend starting with the city center: explore the Nanyang Prefecture Office to see the ancient architectural layout, then visit the Temple of the Medical Saint to experience Han Dynasty medical culture. If you have extra energy, plan a trip to Dushan Mountain or the banks of the Baihe River to balance your day. 🏮 The ancient city route is best started in the morning. Attractions around the Prefecture Office are concentrated. Focus on the gate towers, courtyards, stone tablets, and intricate decorations, rather than just taking photos at the entrance. Walking and observing is more comfortable than rushing between spots. If you encounter guided tours or exhibits, feel free to linger a bit longer—Nanyang's historical layers deserve some time to be appreciated. The Temple of the Medical Saint is best visited after the ancient city culture as a "thematic deep dive." There is no need to rush through it; focus your attention on the temple grounds, ancient trees, and cultural information. For companions with less interest in history, agreeing on key areas to visit beforehand will make the experience more enjoyable than trying to see everything in detail. If you want to add natural scenery, plan your visit to Dushan Mountain when you have plenty of energy. The key to the landscape section is not to complete every route at once, but to choose a short route or linger longer based on the weather, your footwear, and how you feel that day. Enjoy open views on sunny days and the layers of the mountains on cloudy days. Comfortable walking shoes and water are more important than complex gear. 🌿 The banks of the Baihe River are best scheduled for the evening or at the end of your itinerary, leaving space for a slower pace. The river surface, walking paths, and city lights transform Nanyang from a "historical destination" into a more everyday urban experience. You can take a walk, photograph reflections, or just find a spot with a wide view to sit for a while—there is no need to squeeze in new attractions. In terms of pace, a one-day trip can focus on the "Prefecture Office + Temple of the Medical Saint," with landscapes as a light addition. For a two-day trip, set aside separate time for Dushan Mountain or the Baihe River to reduce back-and-forth travel. When traveling with seniors or children, prioritize areas with flat paths and easily accessible rest stops, making climbing and long-distance walking optional. To save money, confirm the daily scenic area announcements, reservation requirements, and on-site rules before deciding whether to buy a joint ticket or add extra items. Do not estimate prices based on old guides, and avoid frequent transfers just to fill your itinerary. For dining, try local noodles and home-style flavors. When popular restaurants have long lines, nearby small shops are often better for a quick, casual meal. 🍜 For photography, follow the sequence of "architectural details—people walking—riverside finale": photograph eaves and courtyards in the morning, capture your visit in the middle of the day, and save the evening for the water and the city. The fun of Nanyang lies not just in individual landmarks, but in the natural transition between the ancient city, culture, landscapes, and everyday life.

Student-friendly! Xinye Baihe Wetland Park offers free admission, so you can easily enjoy a full day there on a 100-yuan budget. It's a great value! ✨ 🚗 Save on transport: Ride a shared e-bike directly from within the county for just a few yuan; taking the bus from out of town is even cheaper. Carpooling with others is also affordable. Taxis are not recommended as they are more expensive. 🎫 Ticket savings: The park is completely free to enter with no admission fee. You can freely explore most viewing platforms and trails, saving you a significant amount. 🍜 Affordable food recommendations: Stalls at the park entrance offer local snacks like banmian, huoshao, and liangfen, which are great value. You can also bring your own water, bread, and fruit; picnicking is even more budget-friendly. 📸 Free photo spots: The reed marshes along the Baihe River, the wooden boardwalks by the water, viewing platforms, and shaded lawns are all free to visit and perfect for taking fresh, documentary-style photos. 💰 Estimated cost per person: Transport 5 yuan + light meal 30 yuan, with no other expenses. It's about 35 yuan per person, so a 100-yuan budget is more than enough. The park environment is comfortable. It's great for enjoying the river breeze while walking, picnicking, or taking photos. It's an excellent place for students to relax on the weekend. How much are you planning to budget for your trip?

Nanyang in September is truly an underrated travel gem🌿! Early September temperatures are around 24–32°C. It's crisp and cool, but the afternoon sun can still hit 32°C⚠️. There was also light rain on the 8th–9th. For those who didn't check the weather beforehand and went out unprepared, it was really a struggle💦. This field-tested guide focuses on a relaxed pace and avoiding unnecessary spending, clearly explaining what I don't recommend and what you should go for without hesitation👇 🏨 Accommodation: A no-brainer guide (no pitfalls) Take my advice: don't follow the crowd and stay in the far suburbs! City attractions are very concentrated. Staying near the Prefecture Office or Minzhu Street is super convenient for walking to meals, visiting night markets, and taking taxis to attractions🚕. Booking on Trip.com offers great value: Comfortable chain hotels in the city: Standard chain hotels in the city are CNY 120–200 per night. They are close to commercial areas/attractions, clean, safe, and super convenient for getting around Near Renmin Road, Wancheng District: The top choice for first-time visitors, within walking distance of the Prefecture Office commercial area🏯 Shedian Ancient Town Ming/Qing-style homestays: CNY 160–290. Choose this if you want to experience an ancient atmosphere Laojieling wellness homestays: CNY 220–380. Only consider these if you're going to Xixia to see the red leaves ⚠️ During National Day and the Chinese rose season, rooms are in high demand and prices rise significantly. Book on Trip.com at least 7 days in advance, or the walk-in prices will be shockingly high🤯 Low-priced 1-day tour groups soliciting at train stations and attraction entrances often hide shopping stops and hidden fees. It's easy to get on but hard to get off🙅‍♀️—if you see them, just walk away! 💰 Popular budget guide (800 yuan per person) 3-day, 2-night popular guide (800 yuan per person, no hidden fees): Accommodation: 2 nights, CNY 300–600 (based on CNY 200–300/night) Food: 3 days, CNY 200 (breakfast CNY 5–15, main meals CNY 20–50, night market CNY 30) Attraction tickets: Wuhou Shrine CNY 50 + Prefecture Office CNY 40 + Medical Saint Shrine CNY 25 = CNY 115 (Han Pictorial Stone Museum is free, Museum is free) Transportation: Taxi + e-bike, CNY 80 is enough for 3 days Total: Approx. CNY 800 per person💸 Laojieling ticket + round-trip sightseeing bus + 1-way cable car up is CNY 101. If you want to reach the summit to see the sea of clouds, add the cable car package for CNY 151🎫. Bring your student ID! All attractions are half-price. You'd be silly not to take advantage of these savings🐑! For food, look for old shops in residential areas: Fangcheng Huimian (braised noodles) is CNY 15–20/bowl—creamy white soup slow-cooked with lamb bones paired with handmade wide noodles; 1 sip of soup and 1 bite of noodles is finger-licking good🍜. Xinye Banmian (board noodles) with beef tallow chili is fragrant but not overpowering. On the west side of the Prefecture Office night market, Xinye handmade fried small fish is CNY 11 per person, and black sesame oil tea is under CNY 14—the king of value🐟. Don't buy Dushan jade at attraction entrances! If you don't know jade, don't buy it blindly. Prioritize regular supermarkets and museum creative gift shops. Go to Dushan Jade Carving Street to buy small pendants at fair prices; you can cut the price in half and get authentic goods💎. 🗺️ My lazy itinerary (relaxed pace) Day 1: Three Kingdoms culture + old city vibes Morning: Head straight to Wolonggang Wuhou Shrine🎫 CNY 50. The place where Zhuge Liang farmed. The red walls and green tiles are super photogenic. It's perfect for taking photos in Hanfu. 2 hours is just right📸. Noon: Old-fashioned lamb soup + flatbread across from Wuhou Shrine—so fresh it's finger-licking good🥣. Afternoon: Nanyang Prefecture Office🎫 CNY 40. The best-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty prefecture office in the country. Visit the city government of ancient times. The red walls are great for photos🏛️. Evening: Feast at the Prefecture Office night market! After eating, stroll along the Baihe River night view; the river breeze is super healing🌃. Day 2: Han culture + wellness experience Morning: Nanyang Han Pictorial Stone Museum (free, reservation required)🆓. Han dynasty stone carvings that look like emojis. Spend 1.5 hours. Noon: Shenghe Zhaosheng Qiang Huimian (braised noodles). Enjoy a bowl of authentic noodles🍜. Afternoon: Medical Saint Shrine🎫 CNY 25. The hometown of Zhang Zhongjing. Visit the herb garden and make mugwort sachets—wellness fans will love it🌿. Evening: Eat and shop at 360 Plaza. The Chuanxi Bazi hot pot is spicy and satisfying🌶️. Day 3: Niche spots + departure Morning: Shedian Ancient Town (free)🆓. A major hub on the Ming and Qing Tea Road. The Shan-Shaan Guild Hall has exquisite carvings. Spend 1 hour. Noon: Ancient town braised dishes + Guokui (flatbread)—authentic farmhouse flavors🥞. Afternoon: Before heading back, visit Dushan Jade Carving Street to buy small pendants as souvenirs—great value✨. 💡 I don't recommend cramming Wolonggang + Medical Saint Shrine + Laojieling into a 1-day trip! The mountain roads in Xixia are winding. Driving there and back takes 4 hours. You'll be exhausted from rushing, and your soul will leave your body🌀. If you want to see the red leaves in Laojieling in September, set aside a whole day. The temperature difference on the mountain is large, so bring a light jacket🧥. 📊 Let's tally it up 3 days, 2 nights, you can do it for about CNY 800 per person👌: Accommodation CNY 300–600 + Food CNY 200 + Tickets CNY 115 + Transport CNY 80. It depends on your spending habits; students with ID can get half-price tickets and lower the cost even further. September in Nanyang is crisp and cool, the best season for travel throughout the region🌅. Your perception of spending will really be shattered—the cost of 1 hot pot meal in a first-tier city can cover 3 days of fun and eating here! Stop blindly squeezing into crowded popular ancient cities. The vibes and cultural heritage of this Chu-Han small city are worth visiting 3 times over✨. Book your hotel and attraction tickets on Trip.com in advance, go on off-peak weekdays, and the experience will be top-notch💯. Just go for it!🎒

July–August is the peak blooming season. Pink and white lotus flowers pair with emerald green leaves. Wooden boardwalks weave through the flowers for close-up viewing and photos. 3. My suitcase was packed with her favorite picture books and a little yellow duck water bottle, and her profile, as she leaned against the car window counting clouds, was reflected in the rearview mirror. After driving 300 kilometers, we headed towards Nanyang—an ancient city surrounded by the Baihe River—with our three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, filling our hearts with spring breezes, seas of flowers, and a bowl of piping hot stewed noodles. 🚗 Travel Diary: Three Days, Two Nights, Every Frame a Story Day 1: First Encounter in the Ancient City, Playful Fun by the River Upon arriving at the Nanyang Prefectural Government Office in the morning, my daughter became fascinated by the stone lions in front of the vermilion gate. I knelt down and told her, "In ancient times, high-ranking officials worked here, and bad guys got spanked," and she immediately covered her little bottom and giggled. Outfit Sharing: The temperature difference in Nanyang in spring is significant, so I dressed my daughter in a pure cotton sweatshirt with a detachable fleece inner layer. It was very convenient to take off the layer if she got hot. There were many thresholds at the Prefectural Government Office, so we held hands the entire time. When the Lao Nanyang braised noodles were served at noon, my daughter exclaimed, "The bowl is bigger than my face!" I used baby food scissors to cut the noodles shorter, reminding her safety: when eating soup noodles with children, always let them cool for three minutes first, and place the bowl out of their reach. The highlight of the afternoon was Baihe Wetland Park. The willow branches were just sprouting new buds, and my daughter squatted by the river, collecting a bagful of small pebbles, saying she wanted to take them home to give to her friends at kindergarten. I accompanied her on her balance bike along the path, the wind carrying her laughter far away. An unexpected incident occurred: she ran too fast and fell. Luckily, I had iodine swabs with me; after treating the wound and putting on a band-aid, she cried a couple of times and then went off to chase butterflies. In the evening, at the Xinhua Road night market, we carried candied hawthorns and grilled gluten through the crowds. It was her first time trying stinky tofu; she wrinkled her little nose and said, "It smells bad, but it tastes good," making the stall owner laugh heartily. Day 2: Learning Herbs, Understanding the Past and Present, A Wonderful Museum Trip In the morning, at the Temple of the Medical Sage, I did my homework beforehand—printing out pictures of several herbs for my daughter to "treasure hunt" in the garden. She jumped up excitedly when she found the mint, squatting down to smell it repeatedly. Learning method: I called Zhang Zhongjing "the grandfather who treated patients," and she remembered it immediately, even imitating the pulse-taking motion. At noon, at the Zhang Zhongjing Medicinal Cuisine Restaurant, the angelica and mutton soup was light and not gamey; my daughter drank two small bowls. She ate the poria buns like steamed buns, making a mess with her hands. In the afternoon, at the Nanyang Museum, young children have limited attention spans, so I only took her to see two things: dinosaur egg fossils and a Han Dynasty pottery dog. She made up little stories while looking at them, and voluntarily left after fifteen minutes. Time management technique: Limit family visits to 1.5 hours; if she gets tired, carry her out; don't force her to "finish everything." In the evening, we checked into the Nanyang Hotel, having arranged for a crib and a quiet room beforehand. My daughter rolled around in bed after her bath, saying, "This house is so comfortable," and fell asleep within three minutes. Day 3: Hiking to Enjoy Spring, Saying Goodbye to the Sea of Flowers In the morning, we went to Dushan Forest Park. My daughter climbed half a mountain independently for the first time. We walked and stopped, collecting pine cones and watching ants move their nests. Safety tip: The mountain path is rocky, so I made sure my daughter wore non-slip hiking shoes. We kept her water bottle and snacks handy, not rushing. At noon, the farmhouse restaurant at the foot of the mountain served a stewed chicken cooked over a wood fire until tender. We also had blanched wild vegetables with dipping sauce, and she curiously tried a bite of each one. In the afternoon, the rose garden was in full bloom. We spread out a picnic blanket; she blew bubbles, and I lay down and looked at the sky. Our last stop—neither of us rushed the other, letting spring slowly come to an end. 📋 Practical 3-Day Itinerary for Traveling with Kids in Nanyang Itinerary · Day 1: Nanyang Prefectural Government Office → Old Nanyang Stewed Noodles → Baihe Wetland Park → Xinhua Road Night Market · Day 2: Temple of the Medical Sage → Zhang Zhongjing Medicinal Cuisine → Nanyang Museum → Nanyang Hotel · Day 3: Dushan Forest Park → Farmhouse → Rose Garden → Return Trip Accommodation Recommendation: Nanyang Hotel is centrally located and offers reliable service. A crib can be added upon request. For those seeking family-friendly facilities, Jianye Forest Peninsula Holiday Hotel is a good choice, featuring a children's playground. Essential Items · Removable inner jacket, non-slip hiking shoes · Portable first-aid kit (iodine swabs, fever-reducing patches, montmorillonite powder) · Folding potty, disposable placemats · Snack containers (fruit puree, biscuits, fruit) Tickets & Reservations: Reservations for Nanyang Prefectural Government Office, Temple of the Medical Sage, and Museum can be made through their official WeChat accounts. Children under 1.2 meters tall are admitted free. It is recommended to book one day in advance for weekends to avoid the 10 AM peak hours. Study Tour Tips · Government Office: Play "Find the Stone Lions" to encourage children to observe details. · Temple of the Medicine Sage: Herb treasure hunt; reward stickers for identifying three plants. · Museum: Focus on "Three Treasures" to help children remember. In Nanyang's spring, the air is filled with the fragrance of flowers, and the warmth of a bowl of food fills the air. Children run under the sunshine of the ancient city, every step a step of growth. Traveling with children doesn't have to be perfect; those little surprises and unexpected moments will eventually become the softest light in our memories. What's the farthest place you've taken your children? Share in the comments! 🌸

July in Nanyang is perfect for taking it slow 🍃. It’s a bit sunny during the day, but after a rain, the whole city feels fresh. The breeze by the Bai River is soft when you take a walk. During this three-day trip, I stayed comfortably, ate well, and didn’t spend much. Here’s a summary for sisters planning to visit 💕 🌦 Tips for traveling in July The weather in Nanyang in July is like a child’s mood. The forecast shows rain almost every day from the 27th to the 29th, with moderate rain turning heavy on the 28th 🌧️. So don’t forget to pack a sun and rain umbrella, disposable raincoat, and a light jacket. Daytime temperatures in the city range from 32 to 34℃, which isn’t extreme, but the humidity makes it feel stuffy. It’s best to go out between 8 AM and 11 AM or after 4:30 PM. Stay indoors or in the hotel with air conditioning at noon. In the mountains, short showers are common this season. Check weather warnings before you go. If there’s thunder or strong winds, avoid the mountains. Safety always comes first 🍃 🏨 How I chose my accommodation For first-timers, I sincerely recommend staying near the government office or Minzhu Street. You can walk to the snack street, and it’s just over 10 minutes by taxi to Wolonggang, making it great value. I booked a guesthouse in the government office area on Trip.com, about 170 yuan per night for a queen room. It was clean and cozy, with a night market right downstairs—perfect for food lovers ✨. If your budget is tighter, you can find chain hotels near the train station for just over 100 yuan; For more comfort, boutique business hotels near People’s Square cost 250 to 400 yuan, with new facilities and convenient shopping. For quality seekers, high-end hotels by the Bai River start at 500 yuan, with night views right outside the window 🌃. Booking two weeks in advance on Trip.com is safer. Summer price increases in Nanyang aren’t too steep. 🍜 Nanyang flavors you’ll miss Fangcheng huimian (braised noodles) is a must! The white broth made from lamb bones is milky, the noodles are chewy and springy, and with a piece of sweet garlic, it’s unforgettable. The old shop charges 15 yuan and fills you up 🥢. Xinye banmian (board noodles) with spicy red oil and minced meat is addictive, 8 yuan for a big bowl. For breakfast, try hula soup with two types of dough sticks. The oil tea on Minzhu Street is sprinkled with crushed crispy dough, 5 yuan for a happy morning. For lunch, try Zhenping roast chicken. The meat falls off the bone with a shake, great cold with drinks, about 30 yuan per chicken. For dinner, I recommend Nanzhao spicy chicken. Local chicken stir-fried over high heat with pulled noodles to soak up the sauce, about 50 yuan per person. It’s so spicy you’ll keep eating 🌶️. Tanghe liangfen (cold jelly noodles) is a summer must-order. Tossed with garlic water and chili oil, it’s a perfect heat reliever. To avoid bad experiences, search Trip.com for local food rankings and follow where locals gather. 📸 Best way to plan sightseeing Top pick is Nanyang government office 🏛️, right on Minzhu Street. Adult tickets are 39 yuan. It’s the official residence of governors from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The red walls and ancient courtyard are perfect for photos. Wear a plain dress and sit on the main hall’s chair for a full Three Kingdoms vibe. Next door is Wolonggang Wuhou Temple, tickets 46 yuan. Ancient cypress trees and the stele with Yue Fei’s handwritten “Chu Shi Biao” make it special. Go early when it’s less crowded. Wearing Hanfu here feels like traveling back to the Three Kingdoms 🌌. For nature lovers, visit Nanzhao Wuduo Mountain. The scenery is poetic and picturesque, combining southern grace and northern grandeur. Tickets plus round-trip shuttle cost 31 yuan. For the glass walkway experience, the package is 85 yuan. If you want the Ming and Qing ancient town atmosphere, don’t miss Sheqi Shedian Ancient Town’s Shanxi-Shaanxi Guild Hall. Adult tickets are 40 yuan. The glazed screen wall and intricate wood and stone carvings are mesmerizing. When lanterns light up at dusk, it feels like a Ming and Qing drama scene 🏮. In the evening, stroll along the Bai River Wetland Park in the city. Walk the riverside path and enjoy the breeze. It’s free, and the night lighting is soothing. 💡 Things only visitors know Taxi starting fare in the city is 6 to 8 yuan. Bus rides cost 1 yuan. Shared electric scooters are everywhere, so even those who get lost easily can manage 🛵. Nanyang East Station is far from the city. Choose Nanyang Station first or book a pickup on Trip.com in advance. The Funiu Mountains have big temperature swings between day and night. Wear short sleeves during the day and bring a light jacket for the evening. Local food tends to be salty and spicy. If you don’t eat spicy food, tell the restaurant in advance. For popular attractions, buy tickets online ahead to avoid lines. July has frequent showers. Always carry a sun and rain umbrella and waterproof shoe covers. Bring some heat-relief items for the day. Check weather warnings before mountain trips. If there’s thunder, switch to indoor plans without hesitation. Don’t tough it out ⚠️ After three days, the average cost per person wasn’t high. I stayed comfortably and ate well. This slow-paced Chu-Han small city really gets under your skin 💖. July in Nanyang is worth a visit.

"Jiangnan water towns"! I dare say it's the most underestimated travel destination in Henan and even the Central Plains region, bar none! ✨ 🔥 Why Zhuxian Town? Imagine: winding bluestone paths, rows of Ming and Qing dynasty houses, no noisy bars, no generic Yiwu goods. Only old folks fanning themselves, women washing clothes by the river, ducks splashing into the water, and the scent of woodblock New Year prints wafting in the air. 🎨 This isn't Zhouzhuang, nor Wuzhen, but a living fossil of history—the "originator of Chinese woodblock New Year prints" and "ancient battlefield where Yue Fei resisted the Jin army"—Kaifeng, Henan's Zhuxian Town. It has been low-key for a thousand years, yet it holds a stunning historical depth! 📝 Essential Guide 1. 🚗 Transportation Guide 📍Location: Zhuxian Town, Xiangfu District, Kaifeng City, Henan Province (about 22 km from Kaifeng city center) 🚌 Public Transportation: From Kaifeng Railway Station/Bus Station, take the "Kaifeng—Zhuxian Town" urban-rural bus (approx. 1 hour, fare 6 yuan), direct to the entrance of the ancient town. 🚗 Self-driving: Navigate to "Qifeng Guyuan, Zhuxian Town." Approximately 1.5 hours from Zhengzhou, convenient parking (10 yuan/day). 2. 🎫 Tickets and Opening Hours Ancient Town Old Street: Free! Free! Free! Important things said three times! 🆓 Qifeng Guyuan (Scenic Area): Admission approximately 60 yuan ⏰ Recommended visiting time: 1 day (stroll the old street in the morning, visit Qifeng Guyuan in the afternoon, the sunset is absolutely stunning!). 3. 🌟 Top 5 Must-Dos (Missing them ≈ a wasted trip!) ✅ Walk through Yue Fei's ancient battlefield, feel the warmth of history Standing on the General's Reviewing Stand, it's as if you can hear the hoofbeats of the Yue Family Army! Every brick and tile here is a testament to the spirit of the Southern Song Dynasty. 🇨🇳 ✅ Print a woodblock New Year print yourself, become a non-heritage inheritor "Tiancheng Old Shop" is a century-old brand, where old artisans will guide you hand-in-hand to print Door Gods (experience fee 30-50 yuan). A New Year print you make yourself is more meaningful than any souvenir! 🎭 ✅ Eat a bowl of authentic Zhuxian Town Tofu Pudding + Lever Dough Sticks Recommend "Old Teahouse Tofu Pudding" (mid-section of the old street). The tofu pudding is silky smooth, the chili oil is fragrant but not spicy, paired with freshly fried large dough sticks, 5 yuan for a full meal! 😋 ✅ Take a Wupeng boat cruise on the Yunliang River, traveling through the Ming and Qing dynasties The small boat is rowed, the river water is emerald green, and the banks are lined with mottled old walls and green vines. 🚤 ✅ Watch the live performance of "Yue Fei: Zhuxian Town" at Qifeng Guyuan Grand and magnificent, with stunning horse battle special effects! (Performance times adjust seasonally, check official announcements before going). 4. 🍜 Food Red List Breakfast: Tofu Pudding + Dough Sticks (Old Teahouse), Lamb Soup ("Old Brand" at the town entrance). Lunch: Carp Baked Noodles (Kaifeng specialty), Stir-fried Liangfen, Bucket Chicken ("Fengmingzhai" is the most authentic). Snacks: Peanut Cake, Pea Paste, Rock Sugar Pear Water (try any roadside stall). 💡 Foodie tip: Follow the local aunties and uncles in line, you can't go wrong! 💬 Honest Thoughts (Relatable Moment) Many people say, "Aren't all ancient towns the same?" But Zhuxian Town is truly different. It doesn't desperately try to please tourists; instead, it quietly lives at its own pace. Here, I saw "living history"—woodblock New Year print masters printing for a lifetime, teahouse owners smiling and saying they don't care about making money, just about the lively atmosphere. If you also: Want to find a niche place to relax and unwind Want to let your children experience intangible cultural heritage Want to give your parents a nostalgic trip Want to take a unique ancient-style photo shoot Zhuxian Town is prepared for you. 🚨 Avoid Pitfalls (Essential for a worry-free trip) The ancient town's old street has less lighting at night, so it's recommended to return before sunset. For woodblock New Year print experiences, choose established old shops; don't buy cheap printed items from the roadside. Qifeng Guyuan can be crowded on holidays. You can try the reverse approach: visit Qifeng Guyuan in the morning, then stroll the quiet old street in the afternoon. 📌 Itinerary Morning: Arrive → Stroll the old street (watch New Year print making, Yue Fei Temple) → Experience printing New Year prints Noon: Eat Tofu Pudding + specialty dishes at the Old Teahouse Afternoon: Qifeng Guyuan (see architecture, take photos, take a boat) → Watch the live performance Evening: Watch the sunset by the Yunliang River, buy some Peanut Cake as souvenirs → Return Finally, let's end with a line from Yue Fei's "Man Jiang Hong": "Thirty years of fame, dust and earth; eight thousand li of road, clouds and moon." History may be distant, but when we stand on the old streets of Zhuxian Town, that heroic spirit and everyday life are still within reach. ❤️

Take it slow, and you’ll understand why it’s a city “worth visiting three times”~ 📍 Four-day, three-night itinerary: Explore Nanyang through its historical threads Day 1: The rise of the Three Kingdoms, Han dynasty stone carvings hidden for a thousand years · Wolonggang Wuhou Shrine (12 minutes from Nanyang Station) A must-see is the stele of Yue Fei’s handwritten “Chu Shi Biao” with vigorous brushwork, as if you can see Yue Fei’s sincere spirit while writing; the ancient cypress trees in the Three Visits Hall and the recreated thatched cottage instantly transport you to the days when Zhuge Liang “farmed in Nanyang.” It’s recommended to join a guided tour to hear the details of the “Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage” story—it’s ten times more interesting than reading on your own. · Nanyang Han Stone Carving Museum (12-minute walk) Known as the “Han dynasty encyclopedia carved in stone”! The pictorial stones vividly depict chariots, horses, music, and performances as if they are moving, especially the “Chang’e Flying to the Moon” and “Bullfighting” images. The simple yet powerful lines make you finally understand why Han dynasty art is so stunning. · Nanyang Prefecture Government Office (18 minutes by car) Visit in the evening when the sunset casts a golden glow on the flying eaves. This is one of China’s best-preserved prefectural government offices. Seeing the “Bright Mirror Hanging High” plaque in the main hall and the official residence layout in the backyard lets you imagine the working scenes of ancient officials. The atmosphere is even more enchanting when the lights come on at night. Day 2: The Medical Sage’s legacy, where ancient meets modern in the new city · Medical Sage Shrine (12 minutes by car) A must-visit ancestral home of traditional Chinese medicine! At the entrance, see the plaque inscribed by Guo Moruo reading “Medical Sage Shrine.” Inside the hall are the “Three Treasures” — the tombstone of Zhang Zhongjing, the woodblock edition of “Treatise on Cold Damage and Miscellaneous Diseases,” and the statue of the Medical Sage, each embodying the wisdom of Chinese medicine. The stone-carved sheep heads at the four corners of Zhang Zhongjing’s tomb in the backyard symbolize good fortune—touch them to soak up some “health energy.” · Nanyang Science and Technology Museum (15 minutes) A must-go with kids! Interactive exhibits help you intuitively understand the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, like the “meridian sensing” game, which teaches acupoint knowledge through play. Adults will find it fascinating too. · Baihe Wetland Park + Nanyang Museum (visit in the evening) The Baihe sunset is breathtaking, with the sun dyeing the river golden—perfect for a stroll or bike ride. The museum’s landmark building shaped like a Kui dragon-patterned jade pendant houses collections of Han dynasty painted pottery figurines and Chu-style bronzes, showcasing Chu culture and Han elegance. It’s less crowded an hour before closing, ideal for a quiet visit. Day 3: Exploring ancient towns and merchant guilds, discovering exquisite craftsmanship · Sheqi County Shedian Ancient Town (45 minutes by car) This “living ancient town” is not overly commercialized. Early morning is the best time to visit—watch elders drinking tea in teahouses and artisans making wooden combs, as if time has stopped decades ago. · Shan-Shaan Guild Hall + Fire God Temple (2-minute walk) A paradise for architecture lovers! The wood, stone, and brick carvings of the Shan-Shaan Guild Hall are considered the “three wonders,” especially the glazed screen wall that shimmers under sunlight. The dragon and floral patterns are so detailed you can see every scale and leaf. The Fire God Temple’s murals are brightly colored and tell folk legends, worth savoring slowly. Day 4: Market strolls and warm farewells · Zhongjing Market (a local hidden gem) Make your own mugwort sachets and rolled mugwort sticks with patient guidance from intangible cultural heritage masters. The finished sachets smell wonderful hanging in your bag. Herbal teas refresh and cleanse, medicinal soups warm you up, and TCM-themed souvenirs (like acupoint bookmarks) are small, practical, and perfect as gifts. · Local lunch must-tries: Fangcheng stewed noodles with rich white broth to sip first, spicy and flavorful Xinye ban noodles, paired with a bowl of warming spicy pepper soup. The combination of carbs and savory flavors captures the essence of southwestern Henan’s local life in one bite. 🍜 Must-eat delicacies: Nanyang flavors that warm your soul · Fangcheng stewed noodles: Lamb broth is rich and milky, wide noodles soak up the soup, served with lamb slices and greens—one bowl warms you through. · Xinye ban noodles: Chewy noodles topped with spicy minced beef, drizzled with chili oil before eating—so satisfying! · Spicy pepper soup: Nanyang’s version is thick and peppery, perfect with fried dough sticks or pancakes for a comforting breakfast. April is the best time to visit Nanyang! The World Rose Garden’s sea of flowers is stunningly beautiful. The clang of the Three Kingdoms’ battles, the Medical Sage’s benevolence and skill, the great love of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, and the lively market atmosphere... Here, there’s no need to rush your itinerary. Take your time wandering and you’ll understand the city’s depth and warmth. No wonder they say Nanyang is a place “worth visiting three times”~

[Visiting Wanshisan and only taking photos of the ancient street? You're missing out! Seven "living folk customs of Nanyang" are hidden within the blue bricks—steaming and embroidery are the soul of old Nanyang!] Don't just take photos of the lantern wall at Wanshisan! This alley, a "living fossil of Nanyang folk customs," hides a warmth and vibrancy even more comforting than the gray tiles—watch "Da Diao Quzi" (a type of folk opera) in the old teahouse; the stringed instrument plays, and the artist sings "Zhuge Liang Mourns His Wife," the banhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument) mingling with the clinking of teacups; learn to "steam yellow millet cake" with an auntie, the yellow millet pounded into a sticky paste in a stone mortar, sprinkled with osmanthus sugar, she says, "This stickiness is like the way Nanyang people live—sticking together"; you can even squat in the embroidery workshop watching "Tussah silk embroidery," silver needles embroidering rose patterns on homespun cloth, the old woman says, "This craft could be exchanged for a load of rice during the Republic of China era." 📍Must-Visit Folk Customs List of Wanshisan (Reviewed and Tested by Ctrip Users) 1. Interactive Musical Performance (Da Diao Qu) Recommendation Index: ★★★★★ | 1 Hour Duration An elderly artist wearing a melon-shaped hat teaches you how to "play the clapper": "The rhythm must be steady, like the water of the Baihe River flowing slowly." Follow along while playing the clapper and learn to sing "The Young Couple Carrying Water." When you sing "The water of Nanyang is as sweet as honey," everyone in the teahouse joins in. After singing, you can drink a bowl of "Fucha" tea. The tea soup in the rough porcelain bowl has a slightly burnt aroma. The artist says, "This song paired with this tea is more and more delicious the more you savor it." 👉Ctrip Booking Tips: Buy the "Listen to Music + Learn to Sing" package and save 20 yuan. The 3 pm session has a "request song" segment where you can request "Nanyang Pass." The elderly artist sings it with more energy than the recording. 2. Yellow Millet Cake Making Experience Recommendation Index ★★★★☆ | 1.5 hours An auntie wearing a blue apron teaches you how to "pound yellow millet": "You have to hold the mallet high so that it hits hard enough to make the millet stick together." Swinging the mallet to pound the millet in the stone mortar, beads of sweat drip onto the millet, and the auntie laughs, saying, "This is what you call 'sweetness from sweat'." The steamed millet cake is wrapped in reed leaves; one bite and it sticks to your teeth, the fragrance of osmanthus hitting you right in the head. 👉Secret Feature: The stone mortar is an old artifact from the Republic of China era, with "Made in the Guangxu Era" engraved on the bottom. The auntie says, "Millet pounded in this stone mortar is three times more fragrant than machine-pounded millet." 3. First Try of Oak Silk Embroidery Recommendation Index ★★★★☆ | 1 hour An embroiderer wearing reading glasses teaches you "locking stitch embroidery": "The stitches should be like the sand of the Baihe River beach, dense for a strong finish." Using tussah silk, a specialty of Nanyang, a small rose is embroidered on coarse cloth. The silk has a natural pale yellow hue. The embroiderer says, "This silk is made from silkworms fed with tussah leaves; the more you wear it, the softer it becomes." The finished embroidered pieces can be sewn into purses, adding a touch of "old Nanyang flavor" to any bag. ⚠ Avoidance Guide (Lessons learned the hard way by Ctrip users) 1. Don't buy "Nanyang specialties" with fancy packaging! Look for "Grandpa Zhang at the end of the alley" selling handmade sesame candy. It's 15 yuan a bag, the sesame seeds are tightly coated, and it makes a "crunch" sound when you bite into it—10 times more fragrant than the machine-made ones in tourist shops. 2. Don't miss the "free dough figurine making"! Master Li at the street corner can make a "Zhuge Liang" figurine. He can shape the dough in three turns in his hands, and the eyes are vividly made with black sesame seeds. 3. Don't choose "newly built guesthouses" when staying in a guesthouse! "Wancheng Old House" is a courtyard house from the late Qing Dynasty. The rooms have earthen kang beds (heated brick beds), and the landlord makes "sesame leaf pancakes." It has a 4.9 rating on Ctrip, and the main alley of the ancient street is right outside. 🚗Itinerary (Copyright Guide) ▶One-Day Tour (Bust-Out Version) 09:30 Stroll through the ancient street and see the morning market (stalls selling mugwort and mulberry paper) → 10:30 Learn to steam millet cake 12:00 Eat "Nanyang Banmian + Youcha" 14:00 Listen to Da Diao music → 15:30 Try out tussah silk embroidery 17:00 Buy Zhang Daye's sesame candy → 19:00 Take photos of the lantern street at night (red lanterns reflecting on gray tiles, like stepping back into the Republic of China era) 💰Average cost: 230+ RMB (Includes experience + meals) ▶2-Day Tour (In-Depth Version) Day 1: 10:00 Arrive → 11:00 Stay at an old house in Wancheng 12:30 Learn to make "Nanyang Steamed Dishes" with the landlord (celery leaves mixed with flour and steamed) 14:00 Da Diao music interaction → 16:00 Yellow Millet Cake Making 19:00 Watch the "Iron Flower" performance (an old craftsman splashes molten iron to create flowers, more spectacular than fireworks) Day 2: 08:30 Learn about mugwort with a herbalist (Nanyang mugwort is a medicinal herb used to make moxa sticks) 10:30 Advanced Tussah Silk Embroidery (Learn to embroider the "Nanyang Baihe" pattern) 12:00 Enjoy "Spicy Soup + Fried Pancake" (they taste best together) 14:00 Return home with embroidered pouches and sesame candy 💰550+ RMB per person (including accommodation and experience) 🚗Transportation: 20-minute taxi ride from Nanyang East Station. The landlord delivers corn porridge with salted eggs in the morning. You can drink tea under the old jujube tree in the courtyard. It's a 2-minute walk to the embroidery workshop. The average cost is 160 yuan per night. 🍜Must-Try Nanyang Folk Food · Nanyang Banmian (Nanyang Noodles): The signature dish of "Old Street Banmian King," the noodles are so chewy they practically bounce. The topping is beef chunks and chili peppers. 12 yuan per bowl. It's best enjoyed with garlic for the authentic Nanyang flavor. · Oil Tea: Freshly brewed oil tea from a street stall, with sesame seeds and crushed peanuts floating on top. 5 yuan per bowl. A sip warms you right up; it's a staple of the old Nanyang morning market. The soul of Wancheng Old House isn't in its blue bricks and gray tiles, but in the stickiness of its rice cakes and the stitches of its embroidery.
