🏃♀️ Fairy Lake Island Tour
Fairy Lake is truly the calling card of Xinyu! It’s the birthplace of China’s Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine’s Day), and the legend of the "Sweater Girl Descending to Earth" from the "In Search of the Supernatural" is set here. Tickets including boat rides range from 105 to 160 RMB, with discounts available for online advance booking. The main islands include Love Island, Dragon King Island, Qixi Island, Shengji Temple, and Peach Blossom Island, each with unique features. Dragon King Island requires climbing 777 steps; from the top pavilion, you get a 360-degree panoramic view of the entire lake, offering an especially broad vista. Love Island features a Western-style church, a traditional Chinese bridal sedan chair, love locks, and a matchmaking well—very romantic. Qixi Old Street showcases Hui-style horse-head walls, looking especially beautiful when lanterns are lit, and there are tea-picking operas performed on the stage. The boat route goes from the dock to Shengji Temple, Longfeng Garden, Love Island, Dragon King Island, Peach Blossom Island, and back to the dock, with boats every 20 to 30 minutes, making the schedule very convenient.
🏃♀️ Exploring China’s Cave Capital
China’s Cave Capital is truly amazing! The Cowherd and Weaver Girl Cave and the Cave Dwelling World feature stalactites in countless shapes, looking especially magical under the lighting. It’s very cool inside during summer, a natural air-conditioned space, perfect for kids to escape the heat. The cave explanations are very interesting, combining the legend of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl, which fascinates children. The stalactites take on various shapes—some look like fairies, others like animals—nature’s craftsmanship is truly astonishing. The cave floor can be slippery, so remember to have kids wear non-slip shoes.
🏃♀️ Jinshi Mountain Sightseeing
Jinshi Mountain Mining Park is a wonderful surprise! The former abandoned mine pit has been transformed into an ecological park, and the cliff-top views are breathtaking. Standing on the cliff top overlooking the entire pit, the blend of industry and nature is striking. The park is well landscaped with fresh air, making it very pleasant for a walk. It’s a great educational experience for kids to learn about mining history and see abandoned mining equipment. This transformation from industrial site to ecological park is truly meaningful.
🏃♀️ Cycling along Kongmu River
Kongmu River National Wetland Park is the mother river of Xinyu and is completely free to enter. The riverbank wetland covers over 8,000 acres, with walking and cycling trails perfect for strolls and rides. The best time is spring and summer when lotus flowers bloom spectacularly. At sunset, the river glows golden, creating a stunning scene. Renting a bike to ride along the riverbank with the evening breeze is very comfortable. Kids enjoy collecting stones and watching small fish by the river. The wetland park is home to many bird species, and birdwatching with binoculars is a great activity.
🏃♀️ Strolling through Jieqiao Ancient Village
Jieqiao Ancient Village is the hometown of Yan Song, with well-preserved old houses and ancient camphor trees from the Song and Yuan dynasties, full of historical atmosphere. The village is very quiet, with bluestone paths, old houses, and towering ancient trees, making you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. It’s educational for kids to learn about historical figures and see Ming and Qing dynasty architecture. The ancient camphor trees are hundreds of years old, lush and magnificent.
