Known as the "Autumn City," Zhaotong is truly underestimated by too many people ✨ Wumeng Mountains, alpine meadows, canyon cloud seas, ancient trails, wetland lakes It has both vast highland wilderness and rich cultural history It doesn't have the crowds and noise of Dali or Lijiang, prices are affordable, and the scenery is pristine You'll be deeply moved by this land after visiting once But I'm going to be completely honest with you all ❗ Zhaotong's scenery is stunning, but August–September is not a suitable time for travel It's not that the scenery is bad, but the various frustrating experiences brought by the rainy season can easily ruin your expectations. Those planning a trip must read this! 🌧️ Why should you be cautious about coming to Zhaotong in August–September? Many people come for the reputation of Zhaotong's cool summer, but they overlook that August–September is the local peak flood season, and rainfall is very frequent. 1. Thick fog and rain are frequent visitors, making vast beautiful scenery invisible Dashanbao, Jigongshan Grand Canyon, and Xiaochaoba are all top-tier attractions located in high-altitude mountainous areas. When it rains, the mountains are instantly shrouded in thick fog, leaving everything white. The cloud seas, canyon cliffs, and meadow scenery you traveled thousands of miles to see are all blocked by fog, and the photos you take will all be gray, wasted shots. Weather changes without warning; it can be sunny one moment and pouring rain the next, disrupting your itinerary instantly. 2. Mountain roads are high-risk, and traveling consumes a lot of energy Zhaotong's attractions are scattered across various counties, with long distances between them, mostly requiring mountain driving or chartered cars. Extreme temperature differences, and the damp feeling is very uncomfortable Although the temperature in Zhaotong city is not scorching, the day-night temperature difference on the plateau is extreme.
