Last weekend, we took our little one and escaped Xi'an, venturing into the mountains of Zhenba, a charming town in southern Shaanxi, for a refreshing three-day, two-night getaway. The locations are always great, but this newly opened one is a premium version— nestled right in the Joy Mountain Forest Life Park in Zhenba. The homestay features forest cabins and small courtyards, all incredibly spacious. Our cabin had two rooms plus a large living area, perfect for a family weekend getaway. The homestay is super kid-friendly. Our favorite spot was the stunning infinity pool— it felt like teleporting straight to Ubud’s forests in Bali! The little one could splash around all afternoon, giving mom a break while also providing endless photo ops. The golden holiday is approaching again. If you don't want to see crowds of people and avoid the troubles of highway traffic jams, and just want a peaceful and quiet leisure time, you can arrange a four-day, three-night leisure trip to southern Shaanxi. Departing on October 2nd, we proceed leisurely. The first stop is to view the 'Water Forest,' taste Xixiang hot rice noodles, Zhenba Tujia cuisine, and stay overnight at Zhenba Hotel. On the morning of October 3rd, we head to visit the 'High Mountain Grassland.' Unfortunately, it rains continuously, so we can't enjoy the entertainment activities, but the scenery of the mountain top in the rain has a unique charm, and we admire the spectacular sea of clouds. In the afternoon, we visit the northernmost Miao village 'Leijiazhai Ancient Miao Residence and Shenlong Cave,' and stay overnight at a hotel near the scenic area. Perhaps all the tourists went to other attractions, so we had the place to ourselves . On October 4th, we traverse the winding paths in the Qinling Mountains to explore the Tiankeng group near Shuanghekou Village, which is breathtaking; the natural primitive forest makes one linger. And today, I'm sharing with you the travel destination of Zhenba County, located at the Sichuan-Shaanxi border. Although it's less known, it's worth making a special trip for. Not only does it have beautiful rapeseed flower seas, but also a stunning heart-shaped sinkhole, as well as the northernmost Miao village in China, cave Miao dwellings, rich cuisine, and mountainous scenery, all worth a visit. Zhenba travel check-in route 1️⃣ County Town Zhenba County Town is situated in a mountain valley and is distributed in a long strip. There is a huge folk song square in the town, which is also the liveliest place at night. You can go for a stroll; of course, my favorite is the 'morning market.' Every morning, Xinglong Street is filled with stalls for hundreds of meters, offering various delicious snacks and interesting agricultural products to taste and see, and it's full of the atmosphere of human life. 2️⃣ Miao Altar The Miao Altar is just a 20-minute drive from the county town. It is a huge Miao cultural sacrificial altar with a solemn and majestic overall shape. Exquisite stone pillars stand on the altar, along with various mysterious patterns and reliefs worth exploring. Moreover, the Miao Altar is also a high point around the county town, where you can overlook the town's scenery from the roadside, which is quite a unique experience, especially since Zhenba County Town is indeed very beautiful. 3️⃣ Salt Field Town This is a great place to enjoy rapeseed flowers every spring. Thousands of acres of rapeseed flower seas surround the town, and there is also an old street in the ancient village of Xiangdong. Walking into the village, you can see various old wooden attic buildings, especially a century-old house built in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China and a stone archway that are particularly eye-catching. You can go in and visit, and the landlord is a very kind old lady. These buildings are scattered among the fields, which also grow some vegetables, giving off a strong sense of life. 4️⃣ Litang Village Although the rapeseed flower sea here is not as large as in other towns, it is a great place to check in all year round. The sinkhole group in Sanyuan Town of Zhenba County includes Tianxuan Sinkhole, Daodong, and Quanziya Sinkhole, among many other landscapes. The most shocking is the Tianxuan Sinkhole, also known as the famous heart-shaped sinkhole, with a maximum depth of 183 meters. Inside the sinkhole, there are white ice stalactites, and the view from the bottom of the sinkhole after descending with a drone is extremely shocking. 9️⃣ White River A clear stream quietly flows through the mountains, with a historic bluestone ancient bridge spanning over it.
