Guojijulebu (zhongcanting)

Hidden deep in an alley, the courtyard was bathed in the slanting evening sunlight streaming through the wooden lattice windows, illuminating the old elm wood table. I ordered a pot of the shop's homemade plum wine; it was warm, and a sip instantly relaxed me. At the next table, local aunties chatted in their soft dialect, their voices low, like white noise in the background. Lost in this leisurely atmosphere, I sat there until dusk had completely fallen.

The waiters at this restaurant are extremely familiar with the menu and can quickly offer recommendations when you order. Last time I asked about the ingredients and preparation of a signature dish, the waiter explained it very clearly. The pace of serving the food is also just right; they don't rush you or make you wait too long.

The waitress was incredibly thoughtful; seeing I had a child with me, she proactively brought a high chair and bib. When ordering, she even reminded me that the signature braised pork was on the sweeter side, worried my child might not like it. These small details really made a difference.
