Mercato by JG is one of my favorite Western restaurants in Shanghai. I have to say that in addition to the great view, the dishes are also stable and excellent.
The difficulty of booking a New Year's Eve dinner in Shanghai is beyond my imagination. It is almost impossible to book any Chinese restaurant a month in advance, so I can only switch to Western restaurants. Fortunately, my parents are reasonable and agree to this New Year's Eve dinner that "elderly and children" cannot participate in.
My old father arrived at the store at 5 o'clock and got a window view seat. Thank him for letting the fancy advertisement of Citigroup Tower accompany us for dinner.
There are not many restaurants that can use the Dianping set meal on New Year's Eve, and this is one of them. A two-person meal is too little for three people, and a four-person meal is too much for three people. In line with the "big New Year" purpose of "abundance every year", we ordered a 2k luxury four-person meal, so that I was full before the steak was served, and finally realized the theme of "abundance every year" with two takeaway boxes.
🌆Environment:
One of the best view restaurants in Shanghai, you can see the three-piece set and countdown lights throughout the meal.
💁Service:
The service fee is included in the set meal, which is considerate. The speed of serving the dishes is faster than expected (it is so fast that I am full immediately).
In terms of dishes, there are no disappointments as always.
🍕Signature Black Truffle Pizza (228r) is a must for every table. You can only taste the aroma of truffles when you eat it while it is hot.
🥩Grilled Angus Ribeye Steak and Stir-fried Vegetables (968r) is medium rare. Whether it is paired with vanilla sauce or pepper & salt, the meat is delicious. The portion is really large and you can't finish it.
🍣Porcini Salmon (258r) is medium rare and tastes just right. This way of eating is quite special for people who like sashimi.
🦞Italian lobster ravioli (228r) is much inferior to the other two main dishes, so there is no need to order them separately.
🥑Warm seafood salad with avocado, homemade ricotta cheese with cranberries, emperor fish sashimi with Italian chopped olives and dill, spicy tuna tartare with black olives, every appetizer was a plate, and the seasoning and ingredient quality control were very good.
🍮For desserts, tiramisu and Alfado coffee ice cream are ordinary in appearance, but generally not sweet and still edible. The three-layer tiramisu looks a bit fake.
🍹Mojito (group purchase 28r) Although the taste is nothing special, it is so pleasant to drink a cup with the beautiful scenery.
In general, if you want to find a western restaurant with a good environment and good taste, you can choose this one.Excellent

This weather is perfect for a late-night snack in the yard with the autumn breeze. As soon as the Scottish razor clam king arrived, I couldn't wait to get off work and rode my bike to eat it. The salt-baked one was perfect, firm and juice-locking. I also had an off-menu deep-fried artichoke with 5J ham and potato foam~ Great! ▹Ham cream balls Better than anything I've ever had before. The filling is not very creamy, and it melts in your mouth with a fresh taste. ▹Spanish baked rice cakes It's really not worth it to pay 159. You can also bake Manchego cheese yourself. Just drizzle some almond honey. It's salty and fragrant. I feel a little sick of eating one piece. ▹Coffee chocolate whiskey ice cream tart Put Movenpick ice cream (chocolate & coffee) on a flat cone waffle and drizzle whiskey on the surface and grill it. The wine taste is quite strong, and the collision of hot and cold, but the taste is a sticky mess (not much technical content
The restaurant is quite big, with a first-line view of the Bund! The appetizer is a squid that is quite tender and refreshing, and of course the most amazing is the black truffle pizza! The service is very good, often coming up to pour water, full marks!
Restaurant Week is held twice a year. The Bund has always been a hot spot, especially JG's mercato. Everyone is sharing the 2020 Spring Restaurant Week. I will write about the 2019 Fall Restaurant Week. I found that this year's spring menu is exactly the same as last year's fall menu. The restaurant's seats are still arranged super compactly, which feels a bit crowded. We, 5 adults and 3 children, ordered 3 double sets and selected all the optional combinations in the set. The most impressive one is the "Black Truffle Pizza". The sunny-side-up egg is paired with the unique aroma of truffles, and the taste is very good. "Porcini Salmon" is fried almost 5 minutes, and the fish inside is very tender. "Homemade Cream Cheese with Strawberry Jam" The unique cheese is paired with strawberry jam, which is very unique when spread on bread sticks. "Crispy Beef Ribs" is different from the traditional steak, and the taste is quite unique, but the photos are really a bit ugly. Restaurant Week almost lists all the signature dishes, full of sincerity. I think the service is OK, and it is well arranged if there are many guests. If you want to see the scenery of Lujiazui, there should not be too many people, otherwise you will definitely not be able to sit by the window.
During this special period, we can only walk around and eat in Shanghai. Still on the Bund, Mercato by Jean-Georges is on the 6th floor of No. 3 Bund. It does not have the large terrace of POP restaurant on the 7th floor. However, the environment inside the restaurant is very large and I like it very much. The service here is the most recommended among all the restaurants I have visited so far, and it is also the one I am most willing to pay when paying the 10% service charge. The restaurant's signature dishes: black truffle pizza, crispy beef ribs are indeed well-deserved, and I will go again.
