The cemetery, which houses 5,076 soldiers killed in World War II, is now structured and built by two New York-based architects in the 1950s, and over time the original wooden tombstones were replaced with white, majestic Italian marble. Standing in front of the cemetery, I saw rows of white crosses neatly arranged, and sincerely generated admiration and shock for the soldiers who died for world peace!
