Sakashimaya, full name Takashimaya Co., Ltd. (たかしまや), is a large high-end Japanese department store chain. It was founded in 1829 as a second-hand clothing and cotton fabric retailer in Kyoto. Its head office is located in Nanhai Namba Station, Central District, Osaka City, Japan, and has more than 20 chain stores in Japan. On June 25, 2019, Takashimaya, a well-known Japanese department store, announced that it would withdraw from the Chinese market. [1] On August 23, 2019, Takashimaya issued an announcement that it would not withdraw from the Chinese market, and would continue to operate normally after August 25, 2019.[2][3]
