Rasamadu Heritage

Rasamadu Heritage

3.4
Rasamadu Heritage is located in the Colomadu area of Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, Indonesia, near the city of Solo and the famous De Tjolomadoe old sugar factory. The park is set against the backdrop of the local sugar industry and colonial-era architectural style. By restoring old buildings, retaining industrial elements, and adding dining options, cafes, creative shops, leisure squares, and photo installations, it has formed a cultural and recreational area that combines historical atmosphere with modern living vibes. It is particularly suitable for evening walks, tasting local snacks, and taking vintage industrial-style photos.Kartasura · 20 km from Andong
Mount Merapi

Mount Merapi

3.8
Mount Merapi is one of the most active active volcanoes in the world. It towers into the sky at 2,911 meters above sea level and overlooks Yogyakarta, Borobudur and Prambanan. The massive volcano is a huge and disturbing threat to thousands of people nearby. The volcano has erupted dozens of times over the past century, most recently in 2006. The eruption of Mount Merapi brought endless disasters to Yogyakarta. Borobudur and Prambanan were not destroyed by man-made damage or erosion of the years, but were swallowed by the volcano. However, frequent volcanic eruptions did not stop people from continuing to live in the mountains. The population density here is 690 people per square kilometer, and there are hundreds of small towns on Mount Merapi. Among them, the small town of Kaliurang is a settlement close to Mount Merapi. Several hotels in the town organize volcano tours. Some shop owners know the volcano well, and some have terraces with mountain views.Selo · 40 km from Andong
Lapangan Pancasila Simpang Lima Semarang

Lapangan Pancasila Simpang Lima Semarang

4.7
Lapangan Pancasila Simpang Lima Semarang is located in the heart of Semarang and serves as the intersection of five main roads: Pahlawan, Pandanaran, Ahmad Yani, Gajah Mada, and K.H. Ahmad Dahlan. The square was built in 1969 as a proposal by then-President Sukarno to replace the traditional city square in the old Kauman district, aiming to create a more open and representative municipal public space. This is a popular spot for locals in Semarang to gather on weekends and holidays. People often participate in Car Free Day in the early morning, cycling, walking, jogging, exercising, or meeting with family and friends. In the evening and at night, the area around the square is lined with vendors and food carts, and as the lights come on, the city atmosphere comes alive, making it a great place for sightseeing and trying local delicacies. Because of its accessible location, lively atmosphere, and free admission, Lapangan Pancasila Simpang Lima Semarang has become an important window into the local life and cultural pulse of Semarang.South Semarang · 57.3 km from Andong
Plaosan Lor Temple

Plaosan Lor Temple

4.1
Plaosan Lor Temple, like the Prambanan temple complex, was built around the same time by the Rakai Pikatan dynasty. It blends Hindu and Buddhist religious symbolism and carvings. Two massive dwarapala temple guardian statues stand in front of each main temple. Note the main temple's unusual three-part design: a two-story, three-chamber structure with an artificial level above, and a stupa level rising to a larger central top. Each room houses an impressive stone Bodhisattva statue, placed on either side of an empty lotus pedestal, with beautifully carved dragon heads above many of the windows. North Plaosan Temple consists of two restored, identical main temples surrounded by nearly 126 small shrines and solid stupas, though most are now just piles of rubble. South Plaosan Temple features many stupas and the ruins of a temple, but restoration work does not appear to have begun there yet.Prambanan · 49.9 km from Andong

Parangtritis Beach
No. 1 of Best Things to Do in Bantul Regency

Parangtritis Beach

4.2
Parangtritis Beach, located 27 km south of Yogyakarta, is one of the city's most famous beaches. 1. Enjoy the afternoon The afternoon before sunset is a truly enchanting time at this beach. You can climb the Gembirawati Cliff behind the beach, where you can see a panoramic view of Parangtritis Beach and the southern sea stretching to the horizon. To the east of Gembirawati Cliff, you can find several temples. Unlike other temples in the mountains, Gembirawati Temple is only a few hundred meters from the edge of Parangtritis Beach. From this temple, you can hear the sound of waves crashing against the southern coast. 2. Fascinating legends The town of Parangtritis is closely linked to the legend of Ratu Kidul (Queen of the South). Many Javanese believe that Parangtritis is the gateway to the Queen of the South's kingdom, where she rules over the entire South Sea. Hotel Queen of the South is a resort named after this legend. Unfortunately, little remains of the original site, though it once possessed breathtaking beauty. 3. Romantic sunset When the sun shifts to the west and the weather is clear, it's time to have some fun. Although swimming is not permitted at Parangtritis Beach, there are plenty of other recreational activities available. If you are an adventure seeker, you can rent an ATV on the beach. These four-wheeled ATVs can even take you across the sand dunes. If you prefer something less adventurous, you can rent a horse-drawn carriage or a horse. Take a ride in a two-wheeled carriage along the wave-washed sand, basking in the sea breeze and sunshine. The carriage will take you to the eastern end of the coast, where you'll find unique rock formations—a popular spot for couples to take wedding photos. Sunlight shimmering on the water creates a truly romantic atmosphere. 4. Family fun Parangtritis Beach also offers fun family activities. Try flying a kite with your children; the favorable sea breeze makes it easy to get airborne, and even if you've never flown a kite before, it will soar high with the help of the wind. 5. After sunset If you're not ready to leave after sunset, don't worry. Soon, roasted corn vendors will spread out blankets on the beach, where you can continue to enjoy the night view. If you still don't want to leave near midnight, there are over a dozen affordable inns and guesthouses nearby.Kretek · 86.8 km from Andong
Sewu Temple

Sewu Temple

3.4
Saiwu Temple is another important temple besides Shiva Temple, Vishnu Temple and Brahma Temple in the Prambanan temple complex. Also known as "Thousand Temples", its history dates back to 850 years ago. It originally consisted of a large Buddhist temple in the center and 240 smaller "guardian" temples in 4 circles around it. Four temples stand on the periphery of the temple complex, which are located at the four points of the ring, of which the Candi Bubrah Temple is the southernmost one. The interior corridors of the restored main temple contain a circle of intricately carved niches that once housed bronze statues.Prambanan · 51 km from Andong
Kalasan Temple

Kalasan Temple

3.1
The Karasin Temple is the main building in the western Prambanan site group and is considered to be one of the ancient Buddhist temples on the Prambanan Plain, and it is mentioned in the 8th century AD texts. It is close to the village of Karasen and just 50 meters from the main road. The existing buildings of Karaseng Temple were built around its original buildings and parts of the temple were rebuilt after 2000. There are some fine carvings on the south side of the temple, where above the doorway is an ornately decorated, staring head of the god of time, the Gaara. According to records, the inner hall used to enshrine a bronze statue of the female bodhisattva Tara, but it is no longer there.Kalasan · 54.4 km from Andong
