Rundāle Palace Museum
Rundāle Palace Museum is a typical example of Baroque and Rococo architecture in Latvia, and its nearby French Rococo-style garden is a relatively large and magnificent garden in the Baltic region. The palace was built from 1736–1768 under the guidance of Italian architect Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli. Rastrelli was also the designer of the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg (now theHermitage Museum). Rundāle Palace Museum is a typical Baroque building known as the "Little Versailles" and "Little Winter Palace." It was originally a summer villa for the royal palace and is now a museum. The interior displays paintings, sculptures, furniture, tapestries, porcelain, glassware, and silverware.
