Alona Beach
No. 1 of Best Things to Do in Philippines

Alona Beach

6.5
4.3/5
306 reviews
Alona Beach is located on a small island in the southwest corner of Bohol. This white sand beach is formed by sandy coral reefs and is a great place to relax. There are no noisy paragliders, jet skis and other marine recreational activities here, all you can do is diving and resting. Alona Beach is less than 500 meters long. There are hotels, diving shops and restaurants along the beach. Tourists come from all over the world, mainly European and American tourists. It is lazy during the day. There are twos and threes on the beach, or enjoying the coconut oil body massage of the Filipino sister-in-law, or lying on the beach chair and sunbathing. Not only the people are lazy, but even the dogs are lying motionless on the beach to sleep, and the whole beach seems to be asleep. The sky was getting dark, tables were set up on the beach, candles were lit, and the seafood barbecue grill was fragrant, and the whole beach began to be a little lively. Under the cool evening breeze, eating seafood barbecue, listening to LIVEMUSIC, watching the bright moon rising from the sea in the distance, the feeling of relaxation and comfort is fascinated.Bohol Island · 49.6 km from downtown
Chocolate Hills

Chocolate Hills

4.6/5
516 reviews
Located near Carmen in central Bohol, Chocolate Hills is an iconic natural wonder on the island that cannot be missed. The scene where the protagonist rode a broom over the top of the mountain in the movie "Harry Potter" was shot here. The origin of the name Chocolate Hill consists of 1,268 small hills with almost the same shape and a height of 40-120 meters. The reason why it is called "Chocolate Hill" is that the lawn on the mountain will dry up and turn brown every time in the dry season. It is a piece of chocolate, very beautiful. Viewing time If you want to see a piece of "chocolate", you should go during the dry season from February to May, which is especially wonderful in the early morning mist or the light of the sunset. In other seasons, it is a refreshing green, although it is also very beautiful, it is just a little less magical. Climbing Chocolate Hill is actually climbing a viewing platform to look at the hills in the distance. However, due to the earthquake in 2013, the main viewing platform of Chocolate Hills was severely damaged and has not been repaired. Now tourists can only go to another viewing platform to see Chocolate Hills, and the viewing effect is also less. At the foot of the Chocolate Mountain, you can find a motorcycle to take you up the mountain. Of course, you can also walk up the mountain by yourself. The bright flowers and green plants along the way will make you feel comfortable. You can walk to the top viewing platform in about 20-30 minutes. . There is a place to play aerial bicycles at a high place near the viewing platform. If you are brave enough, you can experience a flying bicycle on a high-altitude wire rope, and the cost is about RMB 50.Bohol Island · 4.4 km from downtown

Balicasag Island

248 reviews
Balicasag Island is an equatorial coral island, located in the middle of the sea, about a 45-minute flight from Bohol. Balicasa Island is home to the world-famous Balicasa fault, which is said to have a seafloor drop of 1,000 meters and is listed as a marine protected area with a magnificent landscape. Balicasa Island is also a gathering place for many diving enthusiasts. One of its major features is that you can float in the water and overlook the Balicasa fault. From the underwater point of view, the entire coral island looks like a pillar more than a thousand meters high standing on the bottom of the sea, and the part exposed to the sea is Balicasa Island. Diving here you can see precious and rare black coral reefs, which grow around the fault, and the coral is rose-shaped, extra large and gorgeous. You can also see beautiful marine life such as groups of tropical fish and funny clown fish on the bottom of the sea. There are also colorful corals, various schools of fish, etc., which are dizzying and unforgettable.Bohol Island · 60 km from downtown

Bohol is one of the best diving spots among the 7,000 islands in the Philippines, with crystal-clear waters and a colorful seabed. There are many diving schools on the island offering various diving packages, with prices ranging from a few thousand to over 10,000 pesos, depending on the length of your stay and the number of dives. In addition, you can also watch dolphins at Bohol, but you need to take a boat out early in the morning. Chocolate Hills are a famous attraction on Bohol and one of the filming locations for the movie "Harry Potter." They consist of 1,268 nearly identical hills ranging from 40–120m in height. During the dry season from February to May, the grass-covered hills turn brown, making them look just like chocolate candies, especially at sunset when the colors are truly enchanting. Pungtud Island
No. 2 of Best Things to Do in Panglao Island

Pungtud Island

5.2
4.4/5
291 reviews
Pungtud Island is an uninhabited islet with crystal-clear water and distinct color gradients, resembling a fairy-tale world. The beach around the island changes with the tides, appearing above the water for only a brief 4 hours each day. At low tide, the beach extends hundreds of m into the water, forming a beautiful sandbar. However, at high tide, the water level rises, and most of the island submerges—it's truly magical. The first wonder of this island is that because the water near the shore is so shallow, the boat captain must take advantage of the high tide to find a natural channel entrance from the sea, allowing the boat to navigate through a wide channel with sufficient depth to reach the island. Therefore, not everyone can land on the island; it depends on the boat size and tidal conditions. The second wonder of the island is the two sandbars extending from it, like open arms embracing visitors. The sand is white and fine, and the water just covers the sandbars; it is very shallow, reaching only ankle-deep. Walking on the soft, fine sandbars is very comfortable. The seabed outside the sandbars is covered in dense seagrass, and hidden within the seagrass are many landmines—sea urchins. This is exactly why, despite the water being very shallow, people cannot wade to the island.Bohol Island · 53.9 km from downtown

Panglao Island, which is connected to Bohol by a causeway, is small in area, only 80 square kilometers. It is an island in the Philippines. It is located in the Bohol Sea and is part of the Visayas Islands. It is under the jurisdiction of Central Visayas. With an area of 80.5 square kilometers, it is a popular tourist destination. This is a place with pleasant natural scenery on Bohol Island, and most of the tourists from all over the world are concentrated on Alona Beach here. The coastal ecology of the island has never been polluted, and it has the name of "diving holy place". Come here not only to see the scenery, but also to go out to the sea to watch dolphins and go to the sea to see coral reefs.Dauis · 2.8 km from downtown
Loboc River

Loboc River

4.1/5
155 reviews
The green Loboc River flows quietly through Bohol Island, with dense vegetation covering both banks. Deep in the riverside jungles lies the habitat of various mysterious animals. Such pristine tropical scenery inevitably brings the Amazon River to mind, which is perhaps why it has earned the title of the "Amazon of the East." Cruising the river is widely considered the best way to experience the charm of the Loboc River. Drifting along the quiet waters, you can enjoy the tropical rainforest scenery while observing the unique traditional houses on both banks and feeling the authentic local culture. Perhaps as you pass by, beautiful local girls are playing guitars, singing, and dancing on bamboo platforms by the river, while a mischievous child sits in a tall coconut tree on the bank, waving at you. The end of the boat trip is an indigenous village, where you can go ashore to watch performances like archery, jumping through fire hoops, and fire-eating. Most people who come here participate in a Loboc River cruise, which lasts about 1 hour. The boat departs from Loay Bridge in the southwest of Bohol Island and travels upstream to Busay Falls in the center of the island; this sightseeing route is particularly popular with tourists. The boat offers a hearty and authentic Filipino meal, where you can taste local delicacies such as fresh grouper, squid, and shrimp. During the cruise, local singers will play guitars and sing classic English songs on board, which is quite relaxing.Sevilla · 3 km from downtown

Tagbilaran City is a famous port city in the Philippines, and the island's airport is also located here. The name is composed of two words in the Visayan language, meaning "secret sanctuary", which has two meanings: first, Tagbilaran City is located in a calm and secret strait; second, it was once a refuge for locals to escape from Moro attackers. Today, the city is full of noisy three-wheeled taxis, and there is no peace and seclusion. Many of the Philippines' famous cathedrals are also located here. If you are interested in both water and land activities, use this very commercial city as your base camp.Tagbilaran · 2.3 km from downtown

Beautiful island just a boat ride from Bohol. We had a snorkeling trip here and were spoilt with beautiful crystal clear water. We got to see turtles and beautiful marine life. The locals all work together to keep the island clean. Lunch was simple but good and there are ladies selling souvenirs. Overall a beautiful island to visit.Tips: Go early to avoid the crowdsReasons to Recommend: Snorkeling and diving

Loboc River Cruise is the best river cruise in the philippines. It's a complete package of entertainment, live music and dance and unlimited buffet foods to soothe both local and international tongue. 1000/10 although it got a bit pricey nowadays, I'd still recommend!

The dolphin watching was good in the morning. No turtles were seen and the water was very turbid. The coral garden was OK. Lunch was 500 pesos per person, more than 60 RMB, more expensive than the hotel. Changing clothes in the toilet and washing with a scoop was charged another 100 pesos. Considering the three hours round trip, it was not worth it.
