Minnewater

6.1
4.2/5
95 reviews
Minnewater is situated on the southern edge of the old town of Bruges, a long, narrow lake embraced by the green spaces and tree-lined paths of the old city walls. It is not a natural lake, but was formed around the Middle Ages as a result of building a sluice at the lake's mouth to store water and regulate the water flow into the city. Standing on the stone bridge that spans the lake's mouth, you can see the long, narrow lake, calm as a mirror, with flocks of white swans often swimming on the water. An old tower built in the late Middle Ages stands beside the bridge. The lakeside path connects to the green space beneath the old city walls. Its northern end is adjacent to the convent, allowing you to easily continue your walk into the old town.Bruges · 1.1 km from downtown

Basilica of the Holy Blood is a church in Bruges, Belgium, renowned for a holy relic. It is located on Burg Square, adjacent to the Gothic-style City Hall. It features a two-story double chapel structure. Its golden facade facing the square is adorned with gilded statues, making it stand out among the row of historic buildings. The ground floor is the Romanesque Chapel of St. Basil, built in the 12th century. With its sturdy stone columns and dim lighting, it is one of the best-preserved Romanesque buildings in the Flanders region. Ascend the intricately carved stone staircase to reach the Chapel of the Holy Blood, which was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century and renovated in the Gothic Revival style in the 19th century. The crystal vial containing the Holy Blood is housed in a silver reliquary, next to a white marble altar created by an 18th-century master sculptor. A large mural behind the main altar depicts the scene of the Holy Blood arriving in Bruges from Jerusalem. The small museum inside also displays a gold and silver reliquary stand crafted in the 17th century, which is encrusted with gemstones.Bruges · 186m from downtown

Belfort is located in the Market Square in the historic center of Bruges, Belgium, and is one of the city's iconic landmarks, as well as an important symbol of Bruges' medieval urban landscape. Its main structure is built of brick and stone, with a distinctively layered tower and a spire at the top, reflecting the characteristics of medieval architecture in the Flanders region. Inside, there is a carillon and a timekeeping system consisting of multiple bells, the chimes of which were once an important part of the city's public life. Bruges City Hall

73 reviews
The Bruges City Hall was built in 1376 and is one of the very old buildings in Bruges. The location is very convenient, located on the Castle Square, next to the building is the Chapel of the Holy Blood. The city hall itself is in the late Gothic style. The six pointed dome windows on the front of the building are arranged vertically, with novel shapes and unique characteristics. The outer walls are engraved with complex and exquisite reliefs, which are based on biblical stories and historical figures. Entering the Gothic hall on the first floor, you will be greeted by an exquisite wooden dome ceiling and 12 frescoes that reproduce the historical scenes of Bruges. These frescoes are all from the late 19th century, which are very spectacular and shocking. There is also a multimedia exhibition on the ground floor, which mainly introduces the evolution of the Castle Square. The History Room of the Town Hall has many archives and paintings about the history of Bruges. If you want to have a historical trip to Bruges, the Town Hall is not to be missed!Bruges · 202m from downtown

Now this bridge has become a must-see attraction in Bruges. Under such a beautiful legend, everyone wants to see the real body!Bruges · 495m from downtown

The Cathedral of St. Saviour was built in the 12th century and is the oldest church in Bruges. The Gothic-style building itself also retains some elements of Romanesque architecture (such as the arched structure above the window), which is very elegant. The interior display of the church is very distinctive. There are organ chorus seats built in the 17th century and tapestries in the 18th century, as well as beautiful frescoes everywhere, telling related events related to religion and history. There is also a museum in the church, which displays the works of Flemish painters and furniture and daily necessities. Every Wednesday night in July and August, the church will hold music concerts by young musicians, which are worth looking forward to.Bruges · 471m from downtown

The Beguinage is the largest monastery in Belgium, a continuation of 800 years of simplicity and mystery, and is one of the three world heritage sites in Bruges. Located by the beautiful Lake of Love, the courtyard is lush with luxuriant trees and white walls and red tiles. It is very quiet and suitable for leisurely strolling and thinking. A beguinage is a special religious organization in the Low Countries, similar to a nun's monastery. The difference with other monasteries is that this is a spontaneous organizational activity. Although there are strict living disciplines, each Beguine retains its own private property and living space. Many of them came from wealthy families and never married, and labor, reflection and prayer were the main activities of their lives.Bruges · 900m from downtown

The Lake of Love in Belgium is very romantic. If you come here in spring, when the flowers are blooming, walking on this bridge will be very exciting. The colors of the houses here are also very good, which will make you feel better.

The Church of the Holy Blood is located in Bob Square, next to the city hall building. The church is small but very famous. It is said that the holy blood of Jesus is stored in it. The exterior walls of the building are dark gray, but the figures on the walls are painted gold, creating a strong contrast.

The Belfort is a medieval bell tower in the heart of Bruges, Belgium, located south of the Market Square. Construction began in 1240, with the main structure completed in stages between the 13th and 15th centuries. Standing 83 meters tall, the tower features a chime system of 47 bells that chime every 15 minutes. Historically, it was used to preserve municipal records and detect fires. During sieges, the bells masked the sound of artillery fire. Visitors can ascend to the summit via 366 narrow steps for panoramic views, with access limited to designated hours. The tower served as a filming location for the 2008 film "In Bruges."

The market square is also very interesting. It was placed here a long time ago. You can still see some local things here. You can also see very interesting shops and commercial streets in this square. It is also a good place to buy small items.

It turns out that this station is called Bruges Nord. This is indeed a building in Bruges. Compared with Brussels, Bruges is indeed more worth visiting. Bruges, located in the northwest of Belgium, is the capital of the Belgian West Flanders Province. It is also a famous cultural city and tourist destination in Belgium. "Bruges" means "bridge" in Flemish. It is named after an ancient Roman bridge on the Lei River that flows through the city. It was one of the largest commercial ports in Europe in the 14th century. There are also teams and people named after it.

I don’t know how many people have actually met the person they fell in love with at first sight on this bridge, but in fact, this bridge is really small, and there is nothing to see. It is also not easy to find, so there is no need to look for it deliberately.

Saint-Salvator Cathedral is the cathedral of Bruges, Flanders, in present-day Belgium. Saint-Salvator Cathedral was not originally built to be a cathedral. It was granted status in the 19th century. Since the 10th century, Saint-Salvator was a regular parish church. In 1839, the roof of the cathedral collapsed in a fire. The tall tower was built on the oldest surviving part of the church, which dates from the 12th century. After its completion, a small peak was added to the top of the tower because the original design was considered too flat. The Neo-Romanesque west tower is 99 meters high and is a fortress-like building.

📍The Beguinage on the edge of the Lake of Love Park, through a small door, the monastery is inside the wall. When you enter this area, you can't help but want to lighten your steps and speak softly. The entire monastery area is very, very quiet, you can hear the sound of horse hooves and birds singing. 🌟The Beguinage is the largest monastery in Belgium and one of the three world heritage sites in Bruges. It has white walls and red tiles, lush vegetation, and is very simple and quiet. 🌟Just come to feel the atmosphere, there is no special place to visit, you can stroll around leisurely~

Compared to the busy and dirty capital Brussels, rural towns in Belgium are more worth visiting! This time, we chose Gent as our main destination and visited several cities radially. Most of the train rides take 30-60 minutes. In late June and early June in Western Europe, the sun doesn't set until about 8 or 9 pm, and sometimes it's almost dark at 10 pm. Traveling at this time is very comfortable, and you can avoid the summer vacation crowds and have fun until you go home
