From Riga long-distance bus station, I took a long-distance bus with a large group of locals. After more than an hour, I arrived at Cesis, one of the most beautiful ancient towns in Latvia. It has experienced many destructions and reconstructions. The current Cesis Castle can be traced back to the early 16th century. Cesis Castle was once the strongest fortress of the Livonian Knights. It has withstood the test of all wars. It is now the best-preserved castle ruins in Latvia and the most magnificent castle ruins in the Baltic countries.
Not only is there no tour group here, but there is not even a single Asian tourist. At the ticket office, each person will be given a lantern with a half candle in it, which is a lighting tool. Because there is no light in the castle, you have to carry Aladdin's magic lamp to visit, so you have to hurry out before the candle burns out. The staff at the ticket office can speak English.
This is a medieval military town, and there are still many medieval castles and ancient buildings left in the jungle. The ancient city of Cesis is very small, and you can walk around it. After the visit, wait for the long-distance bus back to Riga. Except in scenic spots, you will hardly meet anyone who can speak English.
