The new Yinxu Museum officially opened on February 26, 2024. In terms of architectural design, following a global competition, the design by Academician He Jingtang from South China University of Technology was selected. Inspired by the "Shang Hymns" from the Book of Songs, the design features elements such as green wild grass platforms, a grand earth structure, layered depth, and bronze cladding. It emphasizes a green, low-carbon, and sustainable development model, creating a "model of China, a temple of civilization" with cultural connotations and archaeological significance related to the Yin Ruins. Regarding the exhibition layout, the museum focuses on the theme of "The Great Shang Civilization," featuring three permanent exhibitions, four special exhibitions, and one unique immersive digital exhibition. These exhibitions explore various aspects such as Shang Dynasty history, oracle bone studies, archaeological history, and the global influence of Shang civilization. They comprehensively illustrate the flourishing urban civilization, sophisticated ritual and music culture, advanced bronze civilization, brilliant written language, and superior craftsmanship of the Shang Dynasty, vividly presenting its significant role and impact on Chinese civilization and the development of human civilization. In terms of design style, the museum adheres to a solemn and grand aesthetic, extensively utilizing artificial intelligence, multimedia, and other digital technologies. This approach provides new contemporary expressions for artifacts, documents, and oracle bone inscriptions, enhancing the breadth, depth, and precision of the panoramic presentation of Shang civilization. It creates an interactive space between artifacts, history, and digital virtual environments.Anyang · 28.5 km from Ci County

Black Dragon Cave, also known as the Pearl Spring of the Dragon Cave, is located at the source of the Fuyang River in the Xinshi District of Fengfeng Mining District, Handan City, Hebei Province. With its beautiful mountains and clear waters, it is a scenic and pleasant place, and a major attraction in Handan. Black Dragon Cave features a deep and secluded stone cave. Legend has it that a black dragon hides within, and ancient poems contain the line, "The black dragon leaves the cave, the cave is deep and unfathomable." Above the cave is the Black Dragon Temple, built against the mountain. According to inscriptions, it was first built during the Tang Dynasty, and inside the mountain gate are the main hall and auxiliary rooms. The main hall originally enshrined the Dragon God. Below the cave is a deep pool, dark green in color, where clear springs gush from the rock crevices, earning it the name "Dragon Spring." It converges with the Guangsheng Spring, Fuyang Spring, and Bazijian in Gushan (Drum Mountain) Scenic Area, and is the source of the Fuyang River. Some say the spring water bubbles up from the sand, resembling water boiling in a cauldron, hence the name Fushui. It is also called Fuyang because it is located on the south side of the southern section of Gushan (Drum Mountain) Scenic Area (also known as Fushan). The source of the Fuyang River, with mountains at its back and water in front, boasts beautiful scenery and is one of the famous scenic spots in Handan.Handan · 16.2 km from Ci County

Yin Xu is the ruins of the late Shang Dynasty capital in China, the first historically confirmed capital city, located in Yindu District, Anyang. A large number of cultural relics with precious historical value have been unearthed at Yin Xu, including bronze ware and oracle bone inscriptions. Among them, the 875 kg "Simuwu rectangular ding" is a treasured bronze artifact, while the oracle bone inscriptions represent ancient Chinese writing and the precursor to Chinese characters. Their discovery altered China's archaeological chronology, pushing the credible recorded history of China back to the Shang Dynasty. The Yin Xu royal tomb site within the attraction is academically recognized as the royal burial ground and sacrificial site of the Shang dynasty. The palace area has yielded a large quantity of oracle bones, bronze artifacts, including the famous "Simuwu rectangular ding." Thirteen royal tombs, over 2,000 burial pits, sacrificial pits, and chariot pits have been discovered here. The eastern section of the royal tomb site features numerous sacrificial pits containing human (sacrificial victims) and animal skeletons, serving as a public sacrificial ground for the Shang royal family to honor their ancestors. The Yin Xu palace and temple complex site served as the venue for Shang kings to handle state affairs and reside, representing the most significant ruins and component of Yin Xu, encompassing over 80 architectural foundations including palaces and temples. To the west and south of the palace and temple complex lies a manually excavated defensive moat encircling the structures, functioning similarly to a palace city. The temple complex is also recognized as one of the renowned "classical city-states" among ancient civilizations worldwide. Within the palace and temple ruins area lies the tomb of Fu Hao, the consort of King Wu Ding of the Shang dynasty. This is the only well-preserved tomb of a Shang royal family member discovered to date, and the only one that can be linked to oracle bone inscriptions to confirm its age, owner, and identity. The tomb chamber contained 16 sacrificial victims and yielded over a thousand artifacts, including bone objects, jade pieces, and bronze vessels. In the eastern part of the attraction, there is also an "Oracle bone stele forest" that displays a large number of oracle bone inscriptions in the form of stone carvings. Visitors who are interested can go and take a look.Anyang · 28.6 km from Ci County

The Yecheng Ruins are located in Linzhang County, Handan City, Hebei Province. Historically, the ruins of the capitals of Cao Wei, Hou Zhao, Ran Wei, Qian Yan, Eastern Wei and Northern Qi are composed of two cities, north and south. Yebei City was the capital of the state built by Cao Cao in the ninth year of Jian'an (204). Later Zhao, the Eastern Wei Dynasty, and the Northern Qi Dynasty successively all capitalized on Ye. In the first year of Chengguang (577), the Northern Qi Dynasty fell, and the city declined. Yenan City was built against the southern wall of Yebei City in the first year of Yuanxiang in the Eastern Wei Dynasty (538) and was destroyed in the Sui Dynasty. Yecheng is a city with clear functional divisions and rigorous structure, which embodies the urban construction concept of "planning first, construction later". The unique position of the Yecheng ruins in the history of Chinese urban development has always been one of the concerns of Chinese and foreign historical circles. The ruins of Yecheng are a sample of the construction of ancient capitals in East Asia, and have far-reaching influence on the construction of ancient cities such as Chang'an and Luoyang in China and the construction of ancient capitals in East Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea. In January 2012, the archaeological team of Yecheng discovered a buried pit of Buddha statues near the city wall of Yecheng, Beiwuzhuang, Linzhang County, and unearthed 2,895 stone statues and remnants of the Eastern Wei Dynasty and Northern Qi Dynasty. I enjoyed a fantastic trip on the first day of National Day, off-peak, during the holiday season! It was my first time at a Fantawild theme park, and I expected it to be just like any other domestic park. I was surprised by how captivating and engaging the show was, showcasing the Chinese culture to its fullest! Nuwa mends the sky, The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, The Charm of the Nine Provinces, The Yellow Millet Dream, Meng Jiangnu, and Crazy Idioms—all excellent shows! Highly recommended! Fantawild National Colors Spring and Autumn was a truly worthwhile experience!

It's a bit unbelievable that such a beautiful Jiangnan garden wasn't rated! The actors' performances were very energetic and professional, but their interaction with the audience was lacking; silence would have been more effective! The consideration for the elderly and disabled was not comprehensive enough; these groups could only admire the scenery from afar in most situations. Hopefully, this can be improved!

The scenic area staff will contact you the afternoon beforehand to create a WeChat group. Around 8 PM, they will send out the vehicle license plate and location. The boarding point at the High-Speed Railway East Station is (on your left when facing Handan East Station, on your right when facing away from it). You'll see a police station; walk forward and you'll see a supermarket/fast food/burger shop with a red sign. There are three pick-up points: the High-Speed Railway Station, the Grand Theatre, and the intersection of Renmin Road and Zhonghua Street. The electric shuttle bus costs 20 RMB round trip (no one-way; recommended for those taking the guided tour to save time). After getting off the shuttle bus, you need to walk 200 steps to the entrance (where a second ticket check is required). The hike uphill is estimated to take about 25 minutes. Guided tours of the South Resonant Hall cost 20 RMB per person (minimum 5 people). The North Resonant Hall costs 50 RMB per person (minimum 6 people). After visiting the South Resonant Hall, take a shuttle bus to the restaurant. Those not planning to eat can explore the scenic area on their own; it's about a 10-minute walk. The restaurant offers a buffet with one meat dish, one vegetable dish, and one cold dish for 20 RMB per person. You can also order stir-fries, noodles, dumplings, etc. After visiting the North Echo Hall, if you're not taking the shuttle bus, it's recommended to return via the same route you took uphill, rather than the downhill path (which is quite steep).

The group was formed at the last minute, and we were fortunate to meet Professor Ruan. With his solid foundation in history and literature, he eloquently recounted the stories behind the Shang Dynasty, oracle bone inscriptions, and bronzes, without resorting to rigid scripts. He made complex history vivid and easy to understand. His pacing was perfect, and he patiently answered our questions, bringing warmth to the otherwise cold artifacts. Following his explanations, we were immersed in the charm of the Shang civilization from three thousand years ago. The trip was incredibly rewarding and well worth it. Highly recommended!

Longdong Zhuquan is one of the sources of the Fuyang River. The spring water gushes out from the rock crevices, crystal clear, with koi swimming around it, and shimmers with a blue-green light under the sunlight, earning it the nickname "Jiuzhaigou of Hebei".

The North and South Xiangtang Grottoes are definitely worth a special trip; I'll never forget them after seeing them. Reference visit time: North Xiangtang takes about 2-2.5 hours, allowing for a leisurely ascent and careful exploration of the grottoes; South Xiangtang can be visited in about 1 hour. These are truly national treasure-level grottoes, radiating a profound sense of history. Seeing the stone carvings in person is truly awe-inspiring. Those who appreciate historical sites and grottoes should not miss this opportunity to experience the charm of Northern Qi stone carvings up close.

I bought a package ticket, which includes four parts of the museum: the Yin Ruins Museum, the Yin Ruins Site (including the Tomb of Fu Hao), the Tombs of the Shang Dynasty Emperors, and the Cao Cao Mausoleum. There are shuttle buses between these sites, which are free with the package ticket; otherwise, you need to pay. Since I was driving, I navigated there myself.

The Ye City Ruins, located in Ye Town, Linzhang County, Handan City, Hebei Province, covers a core protected area of 30 square kilometers. It served as the capital of six dynasties: Cao Wei, Later Zhao, Ran Wei, Former Yan, Eastern Wei, and Northern Qi. The Ye City Ruins are rectangular in plan, with an east-west avenue dividing the city into north and south sections. The north section measures approximately 2400 meters east-west and 1700 meters north-south, with seven gates; the south section measures approximately 2800 meters east-west and 3460 meters north-south, with fourteen gates. Ye City, having served as the capital of six dynasties, is the birthplace of ancient Chinese capital city planning and holds significant historical importance in the development of ancient Chinese capital cities, earning it the reputation of being a "model of ancient Chinese capital city architecture." In 1982, the Ye City Ruins were designated as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit by the Hebei Provincial People's Government. In January 1988, the Yecheng Ruins were designated as a third batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
