▲ "Mist Rising Over the East River" – Here, the mist dances like a delicate veil, with clouds glowing in the sunset, resembling a white jade ribbon fluttering through the canyon. Drifting on a boat feels like soaring through the clouds, creating a spectacle hailed as a wonder of China and a marvel of the universe.
▲ The steep and rugged Danxia landform scenic area remains largely undeveloped. We simply followed the bus and walked a short distance along the "Beautiful Canyon Highway" in the gorge. Our eyes were immediately drawn to the towering cliffs on either side of the highway, with their smooth, slippery Danxia rock formations that left us utterly amazed.
▲ Dominating by mountains and forests with pleasant scenery, this untouched Danxia landform boasts a 95% forest coverage rate. ·A distinctive feature is the beautiful water pools dotting the Danxia landscape, where red cliffs meet emerald waters, creating breathtaking views of steep peaks and winding streams. ·The area is characterized by mesa mountains with sheer cliffs on all sides, showcasing iconic Danxia formations like red-rock peaks, flat caves, and canyon walls—making it one of Chenzhou's most remarkable Danxia representatives.
▲ The vast lake area features crystal-blue waters dotted with small islands, surrounded by a picturesque lakeside road and flower-lined trails. If you're lucky, you might witness mist rising over the lake like a floating veil, creating a dreamlike scene that has earned it the nickname "Little Erhai."
