Qibao, Taikang, and Tianzifang are just some of the destinations on our Shanghai traditional food tour. This will be a true feast for your taste buds!
Shanghai Culinary Tours
When booking, you can choose from the following options. All tours depart from the Riyueguang Center in Dapuqiao and include a Spanish-speaking guide as well as tastings of various traditional dishes.
Below we will detail the differences between each itinerary:
Taikang and Tianzifang Tour (3 hours)
Once we're ready, we'll head to the bustling Taikang Market to begin our Shanghai culinary adventure. Here, we'll sample four different types of dim sum - these delicate steamed dumplings with their unique flavors will pleasantly surprise you. Did you know that "dim sum" literally means "to touch the heart"?
Afterwards, we will head to Tianzifang, where the maze-like alleys preserve the charming ambiance of old Shanghai. Between the brick walls and art studios, we will explore the mysteries of tea culture and savor century-old traditional Chinese desserts.
At the end of the journey, we will visit a ramen restaurant to enjoy a spectacular noodle-pulling performance. We'll witness firsthand how dough is stretched into hair-thin noodles, and of course, we'll also taste freshly made ramen with rich broth.
Finally, after satisfying our taste buds, we will return to the meeting point to conclude this journey. What an unforgettable feast for the senses!
Time: This tour departs at 11:00 AM.
Qibao Tour (3.5 hours)
We will first head to Qibao District, an area where time seems to stand still, preserving the ancient charm of Shanghai.
We will stroll through narrow streets adorned with red lanterns, savor the aroma-filled stalls, and experience authentic local street food. We will carefully select delicious dishes for you based on seasonal ingredients and your preferences.
Next, we will visit a teahouse to witness the essence of Chinese tea ceremony firsthand. We'll learn how water temperature, tea varieties, and brewing methods influence the aroma and flavor of tea. Of course, we'll also get to taste some. What a delightful experience!
The highlight of the itinerary is our visit to a restaurant specializing in Shanghai pan-fried buns. We'll witness the entire preparation process - from filling wrapping and pleating to frying, until the buns achieve a crispy exterior with tender, juicy filling inside. As expected, we'll get to savor these piping hot, melt-in-your-mouth delicacies.
After the experience concludes, we will say goodbye at Qibao Subway Station.
Itinerary Scheduling: This itinerary starts at 2:30 PM.
