First stop: Xingping Ancient Town, a pearl nestled in the mountains and rivers. The meandering Li River flows through the town, where the iconic Huangbu Reflection is the very spot featured on the 20-yuan RMB note—capturing the classic view of clear water winding around green peaks. Lining the riverbank are well-preserved Ming and Qing-era buildings, their gray bricks and black tiles telling tales of time. Wander the ancient stone-paved lanes, browse the local shops, and hunt for unique handicrafts.
Next, follow your guide to the Grand Banyan Tree Scenic Area to visit the millennium-old banyan tree, which towers like a giant umbrella. Legend has it that it was the romantic rendezvous of the folk song figures Liu Sanjie and Aniu Ge. After the guided tour, you'll enjoy free time at Shili Gallery—a natural landscape of scattered karst peaks, including Camel Crossing the River and Moon Hill. Rent an e-bike at your own expense to cruise the winding paths and soak in the stunning karst scenery.
Then, head to Yulong River for a relaxing bamboo raft ride. Drift along the crystal-clear river as green mountains rise on both sides, the water glistens in the sun, and fish dart around occasionally. A gentle breeze caresses your face, making you feel like you're in a peaceful paradise, with all worries melting away. (Reminder: A supplementary fee of CNY100 applies for guests weighing over 100kg to reserve a single raft.)
After the tour, we'll drop you off back in downtown Guilin, concluding your wonderful day trip.
