Visiting Du Fu Thatched Cottage in Chengdu is a must to experience the charm of the great poet
After flying from Shanghai to Chengdu in the morning, head straight to the hotel Hello Hotel (Sichuan University Branch on Kehua North Road, Chengdu) for check-in. Since the hotel is not far from Du Fu Thatched Cottage, I rode a shared bike directly there. You can ride the shared bike all the way to the entrance of the scenic area (there are several entrances to the scenic area, so it's recommended to choose one based on your location). I can recommend staying at the Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage Manxin Hotel, which is super close to the hotel, and I ended up staying there.
16:00 Enter the scenic area. The Du Fu Thatched Cottage is quite large, and it took me about half an afternoon to visit the entire area, but the truly worthwhile spots are mainly a few key points of interest.
The cottage itself is very simple and unadorned, with nothing particularly special. A quick look and some photos are all you need. If you feel the need for a guide, you can hire one for an introduction, but I personally don't think it's necessary.
The scenic area also introduces the experiences of Li Bai, as well as the shared experiences of Du Fu and Li Bai, and finally mentions Qu Yuan. These three historical figures had similar aspirations. Therefore, there are statues of all three in the square outside the cottage. Inside the scenic area, there are various statues of Du Fu and other poets, which you can also skip if you prefer.
The scenic area also displays a variety of orchids and plum blossoms, and the landscaping is well done, making it suitable for visiting in spring and summer. The flower paths suitable for photography can get crowded, but around 16:50, there are usually fewer people.
It is not recommended to visit the Tang Dynasty ruins at the northernmost part of the scenic area, as the facilities are old and not well-maintained, resembling an abandoned site.
18:00 Exit the scenic area. There were no shared bikes at the entrance. At this point, it is recommended to walk to Qinghua Road, where you can find bikes. Don't make the same mistake I did by walking south, as that area is Huanhua Creek Park and a villa district, with no shared bikes. Of course, if you're taking a taxi, you can ignore this advice.
Du Fu's Cottage is the former residence of Du Fuliu, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty in Chengdu. It is located at No. 37 Qinghua Road, Qingyang District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Du Fu has lived here for nearly four years and created more than 240 poems.
Du Fu Thatched Cottage has several doors, we entered from the middle door, so some attractions are going back and forth. Although there is a map, it is not very clear the route. It would be best if a route could be cleared. The scenery is beautiful, just in time for the orchid exhibition
The scenery is pleasant, the environment is quiet, and you can really listen to music, drink tea, and sit leisurely for an afternoon. Du Fu Thatched Cottage is really a place worth visiting, and the photos are also very good.
People come and go, small scenic spots, you can see, there are not many characteristics, it is the feeling of a small community street garden, there are too many people, the price is expensive, there is nothing to see, it feels OK, not to come, that's it, you can also make do with it, No big problem, about 10,000 square meters, nothing means I feel very amazing
The teacher Huang Siniang is too powerful, the national language teacher level, export into poetry, the series between each scenic spot cultural relics is also natural smooth, poetic and humorous, although self-proclaimed small woman, but serious explanations are all chic and proud, dare to say that with her explanation, The Du Fu Thatched Cottage I saw only lived, and the strong heart and patriotic Du Fu and the place he had lived in later life really lived. Her very rendering explanation made me almost cry twice. There are many children in the same group of tourists. I believe that after this tour, their small chest cavity will always burn a fire, and they will work harder to live and learn. At least, when learning Tang poetry and Song Ci, they will think more carefully about what the poets thought at that time and think, and will understand that good poetry has flesh and blood. Not a general groan.
Du Fu Thatched Cottage is a very worth visiting attraction. A cottage, a Wangtan water, a row of hedge bamboo forests are all dyed 🎋 It is heartbreaking to be quiet 💔 The ramen in the flowering period is the best, blooming in the distance, and it has a special flavor! Along the way, I saw the cottage built by the stream 🌿. There are running water, bamboo forests, flowers and trees, birdsong, although simple but very artistic!
The environment is good, suitable for everyone to play, Du Fu Thatched Cottage, is the former residence of Du Fuliu, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty in Chengdu, located at No. 37 Qinghua Road, Qingyang District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Du Fu has lived here for nearly four years and created more than 240 poems. The late Tang poet Weizhuang found the site of the grass hall, re-constructed the hut, so that it could be preserved, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties have been repaired and expanded
Buy tickets directly to the scattered explanation group, the tour guide service is in place, contact in advance. The on-site explanation is in place, Du Fu's poems come casually, add poetry according to the scene, very suitable for children! The route arrangement is reasonable, some explanations sit and listen, take care of customers! The scenery inside is beautiful, and now the plum blossoms are open, very poetic and picturesque!
