Reviews: Bucharest: Salt Mine Day Trip to Slănic

The mines are truly impressive. If you've seen the ones in Krakow (beautiful), you won't risk experiencing de ja vu. These are less complex, but the size of the vaults is astonishing. They're worth a visit.

The salt mine was quite impressive and larger than expected. The history is briefly explained in the mine itself, but it feels more like an "attraction." There's a children's playground and something with VR headsets. We didn't participate, but later found out it's still in operation. Furthermore, there was no information about how deep or how things were actually done. Perhaps you would have received this information with a guide. We also never had to show our paid tickets anywhere. There's no guide in the car/mine, so you'll have to figure it out yourself. Not a problem in itself. Our guide was clear and spoke decent English. It's recommended, but perhaps go on your own.

Andreea was fantastic! Very sweet, helpful, and very kind. She gave us all the necessary information about the places we visited. She also gave us information about Bucharest in general. The places are fantastic: the mine is very evocative and almost feels like being on another planet. Dracula's tomb is very simple; don't expect anything different. It's located in a monastery on an island, full of trees.
Reviews: Dracula's Castle, Peles Castle and Brasov Day Trip from Bucharest

My guide was Otilia. Time planning was great, we had sufficient time at all destinations and attractions on the journey. Otilia was a knowledgeable and passionate guide who really shared a lot of stories about Romanian history which I found very interesting myself. However, we were unable to enter Peles Castle unless we paid extra, close to 30 euros, which is too much.

A wonderful experience. Florin, our guide, spoke three languages, sharing historical and cultural anecdotes along the way. He was very kind, since we couldn't have found tickets for Peles Castle due to the crowds, so he was kind enough to reserve them for us in advance. The heavy snowfall made everything even more fascinating and made the delay worthwhile.
