France's railway network is extensive, connecting every corner of the country. The high-speed TGV trains can reach speeds of 320 km/h, offering fast, safe, and comfortable travel between major French cities and airports. For example, Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport has a train station directly connecting to southern French cities like Avignon and Marseille. The non-high-speed Intercités trains provide convenient access to small towns and remote suburbs across France.

*Please note that seat reservations are mandatory at all times for French high-speed trains and night trains, and the quantity of seats available for Eurail Pass holders is usually limited.
France's TGV high-speed rail, centered in Paris, connects over 230 major cities within France in just a few hours. This includes Paris–Nice, Paris–Lille, Paris–Avignon, Paris–Lyon, Paris–Marseille, Paris–Bordeaux, Paris–Strasbourg, Paris–Rennes, Paris–Nantes, Paris–Dijon, Paris–Tours, Paris–Cannes, Paris–Montpellier, Paris–Toulouse, Marseille–Nice, and Lyon–Nice.


French high-speed train TGV: Offers clean and tidy cabins, spacious and comfortable seats, and high-quality, attentive service. The trains include both single-deck and double-deck options, all of which are non-smoking. Each seat is equipped with a personal reading light, making it convenient for passengers to work, read, or use electronic devices. Spacious luggage storage areas are also within passengers' line of sight, with large luggage stored between carriages or in designated areas between seats, and small luggage placed on overhead racks.

Activation date: refers to the first use date selected when linking the pass to the app.
1. Before the pass is linked and activated in the app:
This pass must be activated within 11 months from the date of issuance (purchase) and will expire if not activated (except for specified promotional products).
For example, if a pass is purchased on January 1 and remains unactivated, its expiration date is calculated as 11 months from January 1. It can be activated on any day within those 11 months.
2. After linking the pass to the app and activating it:
Continuous
The validity period of the pass starts from the first travel date selected when linking the app and must be used consecutively for N days.
For example, if you purchase a 15-day consecutive package on Jan 1 and select Feb 1 as the start date when linking the app, the validity period will run from Feb 1 to Feb 15.
Flexible
Valid for N days within X months from the first travel date selected when linking the pass to the app, calculated based on the pass validity period and number of days.
For example, if you purchase a flexible package for 4 days within 1 month and choose Feb 1 as the start date when linking the app, the validity period will be within 1 month from Feb 1, allowing you to use it on any 4 days during this period.

Each itinerary should have a separate ticket with a QR code. The ticket inspector will scan the QR code to verify if your train itinerary has been added to your ticket. Step 4: Check if seat reservation is required (If not required, save your itinerary in advance and present the QR code when needed; if required, make a separate seat reservation)
Step 5: Reserve seats (use the saved trip QR code in the app along with the reservation confirmation).

Go to "My Pass" in the bottom menu, then tap "Show ticket" under the travel day.

Pass activation period:
Activate your pass within 11 months of purchase by downloading the Eurail/Interrail Rail Planner app. The start date selected when activating your pass in the Rail Planner app will be your pass activation date, with validity beginning from that date.
4. Can multiple passes be linked to one device?
You can add multiple passes to your device as needed. After activating a pass during your trip, you can also transfer it to another device (only one transfer allowed). If you're traveling as a group with multiple passes stored on one device, all members must travel together for all journeys.
Child passes need to be activated just like regular passes and can be stored on a separate device. Child passes should always have their own travel and ticket information for inspection during the train journey.
Children under 4 years old can travel for free, with no need to purchase a separate pass.
[Notes on linking multiple passes to one device]
If multiple people are traveling together, the same mobile phone can activate multiple tickets at the same time. If you have multiple passes on your phone, please note the following:
Each pass requires creating a separate itinerary in the app.
2. If you have already created an itinerary, you can copy an existing one and link the copy to another pass. Please name each itinerary differently to manage all your trips.
3. When checking tickets, each member using the pass must present their ticket. Please select another pass in "My Pass" and tap "Show ticket."
4. The ticket inspector will scan the QR code to verify that the train you're boarding matches the one on your ticket. They will also check your personal information and may ask to see your passport or ID.
Please cancel the activation before the selected activation date (00:00 CET on that day). Can I link the pass again using another device?
The pass can only be linked to another device once.

Taking an overnight train can save travel days. If you stay on the same train overnight without transferring to another train after midnight, it will only count as 1 travel day. Example: For a train departing at 7:10 PM on October 14 and arriving at the destination at 2:30 AM on October 15, simply mark October 14 on your rail pass travel calendar.

What if I miss the train?
If you miss your train due to personal reasons (such as being late), unfortunately you'll need to book a seat on the next available train. If seat reservations aren't mandatory, you can simply board the next scheduled train.
Train delays and cancellations
If your train is delayed or canceled, we recommend contacting railway staff and providing delay confirmation to be accommodated on the next available service. Alternatively, you can modify your booking at the station, though fees may apply. If there are alternative trains that don't require reservations, you can simply board them to reach your final destination. For unused seat reservations due to cancellations or delays, compensation may be available under the carrier's terms with proof of cancellation if rerouting isn't possible.
