<h2>Sensoji Temple</h2>An ancient temple with a long history in Tokyo, founded in 628. It is said that fishermen originally salvaged a golden Guanyin statue while fishing and built a pagoda on the spot to worship it, thus becoming Sensoji Temple. In the early Edo years, it was rebuilt on the orders of Tokugawa Ieyasu and expanded to its current size.The mountain gate with a huge lantern is the entrance to Sensoji Temple - Kaminarimon, which is one of the symbols of Asakusa and even Japan. On the left and right sides of the Kaminarimon Gate, there are statues of fierce and majestic gods named Thunder God and Wind God. This is also the origin of the scientific name of the Kaminari Gate "Wind and Thunder God Gate".Passing through the long shopping street, you can see the main hall of Sensoji Temple. Since Tokugawa Ieyasu designated this place as a place of prayer for the shogunate, it gradually prospered and became the cultural center of the Asakusa area. There is a 53-meter-high five-story pagoda in the southwest corner of the temple, which is a nationally protected cultural relic. In the northeast corner is the Asakusa Shrine built in the Heian period, with simple and elegant architectural shapes and exquisite carvings.
